Review of Mainely Tubs

I ll start off with the fact that they do sell a quality product. My wife and I bought a 2006 Hot springs Vanguard in 2014. My opinion of them started heading steeply down hill right after the install. I took the salesman s Recommendation and used the electrician they use for installations. They sent two guys for a one man job. After installing two breakers and about 30 feet of conduit and wire. I got a bill just shy of $800. Now to put that into context I had built a 3 stall garage two years prior with wall outlets all around, ceiling outlets breaker panel, meter box for $1300. When I complained to my sales rep I asked for an itemized bill. Didn t get one. I called the sales manager and still never got one. They did however give me a $200 in store credit. Still didn t get a breakdown of what I was charged for. The tub was a trade in when I bought it so there was a 30 day warranty. About two weeks after it was installed we had a light go out, so I figured I d call and have it taken care of under the warranty. I called on a Wednesday and a tech stopped by on Friday to assess the problem. He didn t have the correct parts with him even though they knew two days prior what the issue was. He left saying he d let the service manager know what was needed and schedule a time the following week. Two weeks went by and I heard nothing. I called again and found out the guy that stopped by went on vacation and never mentioned anything to the service manager. A few days later a tech showed up and I watched him working on the light. He told me he had to figure out how to fix it. He didn t have a clue. He was here about two hours. Glad I wasn t paying their $95 an hour labor for someone that didn t have a clue what he was doing. The light lasted about another month. It s been out ever since. This past October 2018 my heater quit working. I called to do some over the phone trouble shooting. What I was told was I was looking at $600-$1200. I decided to drain and winterize the tub until I could afford the repair. I spent time educating myself and discovered the heater was fine and the issue was a heater relay board. With my past experiences with MT I searched elsewhere for the parts. I found the board from Hotsprings supply out of California. Had the part for $150. I replaced it myself and got everything working but still no heat. I called MT to talk with a service tech. The woman on the phone said she would have one call me back. The next day I got a call back from a woman there and I explained again what I had done. When I told her I bought the parts elsewhere because I thought they were too pricey she seemed to be offended and asked why I hadn t called where I bought the part from. I told her I did and that it was just a part supplier for Hotsprings. She kept going on about the filters needing to be changed. I told her multiple times that I hadn t put any filters in yet. I had just filled it and was gonna run spa purge to clean it before I installed clean filters. I needed the temp to be 95 degrees minimum. Then she says that she s not a technician and can t help me and didn t bother to get one on the line with me. Turns out the tub was air bound. After I called another spa technician from a competitor I had the tub up and running properly within a few hours. I will never shop, buy, recommend Mainely tubs to anyone. Worst after the sale service in any industry I ve ever come across.
