To access the top 55th floor where puck is, one has to switch lifts from the ground floor. A minor inconvenience. The other bit of a turn-off depending on your mood, time of day and the crowd present, is one has to pass the breath-taking elevated pool perched atop tower 1/2/3 of marina bay sands hotel. I am not sure how keen one is to have their fine dining experience constantly distracted by peeps showing off (or hiding) their bods in/by the pool. It is also home to a huge (you guessed it) roof top garden terrace, open to public (at a cost), free for hotel guests.

Puck s offerings, the ones we sampled, had asian, spanish, amuricano n italian influences. I am not sophisticated enough to verify authenticities, what i lack thereof, i try to make use of my faculties.

We got: tuna roll 3.25/5, a 180 deg twist (much like the view of spore skyline from here) of what we expected. Instead of seaweed wrapping the roll, the ingredients (google it) were ensconced by caramelized (?) honeycomb of sort. Very creative n worked well indeed.

Chook laksa spring roll 3/5, banish your pre-depositions towards po piah n dig into this. Another twist you might enjoy.

Grilled pork 3.25/5, the most beaut presentation on the day. This is where i must put a disclaimer . I had this when it was turning cold, not the fault of puck (more on this later). To me it was quite dry though i enjoyed the mushrooms tucked underneath. The score here was based on my other 2 dining companions who enjoyed it.

Angus beef burg 3/5, this was a well made burg w the patty done as we wanted it med. The fries which came with the burg actually took the limelight, probably because we expected more (erringly) from a simple burg trying to make it in a fine dining setting.

panna cotta 2.75/5, what fails this pretty looking dessert was not the taste, but texture n the ratio between toppings n the actual blobby gelatin n cream. There was too much toppings to enjoy the smoothness of the blob.

Smokers beware: this is not a smoker friendly outlet as i have had to go all the way to ground floor to tower no 2, find an appropriate spot (which added another 5-10 min walk from the lifts), then transport myself back up to 55th floor. By which time my porky had turned lukewarm.

Puck offers a unique experience for those who may not be familiar with wolfy puck n the location offers a 2X 180 deg uninterrupted view of awesome singapore. Service was un-intimidating, courteous n helpful.
