I ski here a lot. I love this place. It is a local favorite. This place does not have villages of restaurants and expensive shops like Breckenridge or Vail have at the base. This is just a great ski resort. The food is good at a reasonable price. The guests are mostly local Denver families. There is a lot of great terrain for any skill level. They have a great ski school that can teach you something no matter what level you are at. The free snow cat is awesome and it can be used to access very difficult terrain at very high altitude. I estimate that it will take over 200 hours of skiing to fully explore this resort. I love the 4 warming lodges located around the mountain that you can use to stop and rest. These are separate from the main lodge at the bottom. Most have bathrooms and one has food. Some can be reserved for private parties.
I find that I never wait in line at this place to get on a lift. I am not sure how they pull this off. I just love it here. There is a great atmosphere in this place. It is hard to explain. The first time I went here it was nice but it did not seem like much. The more I ski here the more I like it. I continue to discover new places to ski on this mountain that I have not skied yet.
I have no comment about the beginner area (The Valley). The Valley is separate from the main resort although it is close. I have never skied in this area or even walked into the building.
