I initially had no problems with my Lenovo. The Windows 8 took some getting used to, but it was fine. It was about 4 months in that it started having wireless issues. I tried everything from drivers to settings and was unable to fix it. When I contacted Lenovo, a technician (who couldn't even navigate my computer!) messed around for HOURS on my computer eventually told me it was my fault because I didn't know the password for my wireless. Are you KIDDING me? How can 3 roommates' computers all access the wifi, not to mention my smartphone and tablet, when we have the wifi password wrong?! So that was awful, and unhelpful. After this, windows 8.1 came out and I (unfortunately) updated. It sent my computer into a non-functioning mess where I had to restore to get my computer to function. I thought it was odd, but thought my computer may have lost wireless at a crucial moment during the reboot.

I tried to live with the wireless issue, but it kept getting worse. It went from once a week or so to not working at all. Again, I contacted lenovo who went through a whole lot of nonsense (which I had already tried) then told me to send it in to be looked at. I also asked about updating to windows 8.1 and they told me I was better off not since their drivers do not yet support it. (okay fine, but it's now been a year and new drivers have yet to appear on their site...)

I was currently in the UK and they told me it was 'not an issue' and they would look at it over there. After sending it to the UK lenovo (in Germany, which took a week to get there and a week to get back) THREE TIMES!!! (6 weeks without a computer) they eventually told me they don't even look at foreign computers. Every time I had called they told me they hadn't had the part and to send it back in, etc. when they could have just told me the TRUTH.

So I was about to go back to the USA so I waited to send it back when I got home. During this time, my computer's screen also blacked out. Nothing could be done to fix it (found out later it was bad wiring to the screen which they replaced)

In the USA it took only 3 days for my computer to come back, hurray! I immediately had a wireless issue the following day but it only happened once and didn't happen again in the next few weeks so I let it go. I again tried to update to windows 8.1 thinking it might work this time. Again, hours of updating to only get an unusable computer which crashed and glitched. Restore yet again.

About a month later, my computer began crashing when in sleep mode. I would open the case and it would restart. I only caught it once actually crashing. I sent it back in. Yet again a service in good time.

A couple months later (alas) it began losing wireless randomly (not as bad as before) and crashed in sleep mode a few more times stating [Driver Power State Failure]. I have since come to find a few forums DEDICATED to my exact type of computer (Y580). Apparently I'm not the only one who has had an awful experience.

At this stage, Lenovo has graciously allowed me to send it back again even though I am outside my 1 year warranty. I had to argue quite strenuously that this was still the same issue which they have never fixed. I'm hoping this time, I'll get a functional computer back. As of now, even though it has a minimal amount of software on it (Office, chrome, skype...) my computer acts as if it's swimming with a ton of bricks wrapped around it's neck. I can't understand it.
