Mel DeVore Review of Rogers Wildlife Rehabilitation...
Never in my life have I ever visited a 501c3 organ...
Never in my life have I ever visited a 501c3 organization for animals so deserving of not only non profit status, but also every penny anyone could possibly afford to donate. It was so unbelievably evident that there is nothing but passion, commitment, and love of the cause by all involved. The facility was packed with rescues, and yet everything was clean as a whistle, and all the animals were clearly well cared for. They have nothing to hide at this sanctuary. You canwlk the entire grounds 7 days a week. They will even be caring for, and treating animals with loving kindness, as they multitask to answer phone calls, assist walk ins, and drop offs. They were so nice both on the phone, and then in petson. They do not turn animals in need away. I am serious when I say, it's a very special place, and very clear that ALL of their funding goes to provide quality care for the animals. They also are involved in educational visits to schools with some of the animals, but only the ones who seem to enjoy it. :-) It just seemed, even with the large amount of wildlife living there, the staff knew, and cared for each and every one of them. It truly is a first for me to be so utterly impressed with every aspect of my visit. I was saddened to discover the very small amount of money from public donations they work with to keep such an amazing sanctuary so well kept. They do not receive government funding of any kind, its strictly public donations. It's not bells and whistles, because the money is not used for aesthetics to satisfy the public, which I actually appreciated, because it was so apparent that every cent goes into the comfort of their animal residence, and cleanliness of the facility. I just don't know how they pull it off, but I have no doubt it's got to be a constant concern for Kathy, and staff who are so committed to all of their rescues. I thought the facility, the grounds were perfectly beautiful exactly the way they were. I was just astounded at the cleanliness, the knowledge, the kindness, concern by staff, condition, and treatment of all the animals we saw during our visit.
I am going to support this amazing sanctuary, and hope anyone who can afford even the smallest of donations would do the same. I'm just grateful that by chance we gave them a call when we rescued an abandoned duck. I have found someplace that I know when I give, every penny is going directly to the cause, not being misappropriated by anyone, and/or staffed by uninterested lazy folks that do not do their jobs.
It was such a joy to visit such a special kind of place. I only wish I could give more.
