AFC is amazing. I started my PPL 5 weeks ago with Doug Batford and completed my oral and checkride today and became a pilot. I also had the opportunity to fly with a few other instructors and they're all awesome.

The planes and instructors are all the same rate that you'll find at most other clubs around the country. Planes are kept in excellent condition. Booking system is great and reliable. Environment is comfy and friendly. The school has a Redbird simulator which works great. The fleet is one of the largest and most varied around.

They also have a volunteer program for pilots to transport rescue animals around the country.

If you're looking for flight instruction or just to join a really cool club with great, reasonably priced planes, definitely check out Aspen Flying Club.

Also just a side note, KAPA (Centennial airport) is an incredible learning environment. It's Class D airspace with ground control, a tower, three simultaneously operating runways and it underlies DIA's class B airspace. So a great complex environment to get used to controlled airspace.
