Paid $450 for a room as the hotel was the only one next to the Athens airport, arrived around 9pm with 8am flight the next day. Walked out of the terminal into the lobby, bellman took our bags - so far so good. Waited 30min to check into the hotel. There were 4 receptionists checking people in and they spent around 20min per person - not sure what there is to talk about for 20min for a hotel in a parking lot next to the terminal. In between they kept answering phones and making dinner reservations while there was a long line of people with bags trying to check in. I asked to speak with the manager - middle aged blond woman who was actually in the hobby watching the whole painful process the entire time. I explained to her calmly that we had waited 30min to try to check in for our 1 night here with an early morning flight. She got very defensive and told me that its normal to wait and in fact it wasn't 30min but 20min because she was watching me. I told her that if she sees that in most of the world waiting 20-30min for a $450 per night room is actually not normal and since she was standing around observing maybe it would have been more appropriate for her to actually help people with the check in process. She seemed stunned. Went upstairs. Walked past multiple food trays in the hallway in the process. 4 cleaning ladies passed us and the dirty food trays on the floor. I asked the 5th one if she could please get the neighbors tray left in front of our door. She said ok, left without it, 1hr later tray still there.

Got to the room, mediocre tho large by European standards. Bathroom smelled like a public toilet.

Went to the vip lounge , some soft drinks and sandwiches, very bad wine (hard to imagine in greece) and fortunately some hard liquor. VIP room itself looked like a raggedy grandmothers living room. 1 TV, hideous couches, no windows. Decided not to risk dinner given the expedience thus far but did glance at the menu - 22e for moussaka must be some kind of a joke.

This hotel was a total mess. Very poorly managed from top to bottom. I paid $450 per night in the Cyclades with impeccable service, breakfast included, on the beach. Honestly, a night in the airport may have been the better choice. Awful experience.
