I was here from April 24-June 13 of 2017. This place is great at providing recovery services. The counselors and doctors were sweet and the teachers nice.
However.
The staff members?
Some were sweet. Mrs. Iona (GRANDMA!) was amazing, as was Mr. Lucky and a few other names I cannot recall. I have blocked much of those fifty days from my mind. People like Mr. Cooper and some other staff along with some kids are that reason.
I went outside five times in that stay and that was a reward for good behavior. I came out as white as paper. Unhealthy. Some of the staff are racist. The staff is primarily black. I saw two white staff members. That is not a problem but it is a problem when the staff says racist things to you because you are white. My grandmother passed while I was here and I was called out during group and her death was mocked by staff members and residents.
Did i come out a better person? Im not sure. My first fight was in there. I have been in fights since which was never a problem, but i learned great things in there. Idk. It hard to talk about actually.
