Stayed at the Royal Orchid Sheraton last week for a conference. It's a great hotel with nice facilities and good dining options. The room that I stayed in had a lovely view of the Chao Phraya river. It's not particularly near any BTS station, but the free shuttle boat provided by the hotel gets you to Saphan Taksin station within 10 minutes (the boat ride is rather relaxing and they provide you with a cold towel and water if you take the boat back to the hotel from the BTS station) and it's very convenient to take the BTS to the main shopping area from there. There's also a public ferry from the pier right next to the hotel that takes you to main tourist spots such as the Grand Palace as well as Wat Pho.
