My wife and I recently spent a weekend at the Laguna Cliffs Marriott to celebrate our first wedding anniversary, granted we used points to stay here but we did take make mental notes during our stay that led us to consider a future weekend getaway in a couple of months.

First off the staff at the front desk and the concierge are polite, professional, and very friendly. They were aware of our anniversary during our stay and we were treated to a complimentary breakfast. Definitely opt for the buffet breakfast, which is quite a spread.

Though we did have rainy weather during our weekend, we did take advantage of the amenities at this lovely resort. The gym is pretty nice for a hotel and it has a great, open and airy feel. If you need snacks, toiletries or whatnot, there s a gift shop near the front desk area that s stocked with stuff.

The rooms are definitely nicely remodeled with wood floors and nice little decorative touches that let you know you re at the coast. Bathroom is large, though I still don t understand the need for a bathtub-shower combo unless it s for a family.

Once the weather cleared, the view was great from our room. But during the rain, we enjoyed Netflix on the large wall-mounted Flat panel. The internet connection is decent if you re a Marriott Elite member.

The hotel has walkways that lead to the marina at the bottom of the hill. I suggest not going in the rain. True story.

The pool and spa are saltwater and chlorine based and there are towels aplenty for use.

All in all we didn t know what to expect with this hotel atop a hill, but were pleasantly surprised and already planning our next stay.
