Giving this hospital a one star rating is being very generous. This is a prime example of what happens when a system gets too big. My doctor had been prescribing MScontin for pain management of my severely arthritic hip. Before the replacement surgery I made a list of all medications I was taking at home. So far, so good right WRONG. I received none of the prescribed meds my primary M.D. had written. That in itself would have been tolerable except for the MScontin, which is a time released morphine, I had been taking the MScontin for approximately 8 months, so I was dependant. None of the nurses took the time to listen to me as now I'm going into withdrawal. It.was the worst situation EVER. Nausea, vomiting, headache and flu like symptoms occurred. Not to mention I ate nothing for 3days. The nursing staff didn't give a damm, I think they thought I was a druggie looking to get high. They actually told me all my symptoms were because of my surgery, one even told me my home prescriptions were not the problem, that I needed TUMS and anti nausea meds. Let me tell you going through t h e hip surgery was bad enough and now I'm going through withdrawal on top of it. I got to the point of just wanting to die. There was a steady stream of nurses, social workers, and others coming in and out for 3days. I finally had to email my primary doctor to let him know that these people were killing me. Finally a pain management expert came to see me and IMMEDIATELY knew the problem. I told him I had wished he had a come sooner, but this was the first he was told about it. Within a few hours I started started feeling normal again. I WILL NEVER GO BACK TO SFGH FOR ANYTHING EVER,ONLY CLINIC APPOINTMENTS. There are a lot of other hospitals in this city,PLEASE USE THEM STAY AWAY FROM SFGH.NEVER AGAIN,NEVER AGAIN,NEVER AGAIN.
