This place needs a major culture change. As a physician myself, spending the night here as a patient was definitely an eye opening experience. UCSD s med school makes so many claims about how they re changing patient care, but their hospital is an absolute cluster****. Staff is helpful when you approach them, but disengaged otherwise. Basically an over-glorified urgent care that s been prettied up by UCSD s $4.3bil revenue.

Physicians, it starts with us. Your nurses follow and match the care you put into medicine. If red tape from administration is enough to dehumanize you into diagnosing robots, this profession isn t for you. You aren t right for this profession.
