Told to be there at 2. I was there at 1:30. Completed registration on an IPad. Taken back to a room. A nurse attended me, getting IV put in (hit a nerve but worked it in okay.) She was very caring, friendly, professional, and attentive to my needs. The anesthesiologist came in. Told me what was going to happen. Good communication. Another anesthesiologist came in-the other had left for the day. Said it wouldn't be long. The doctor/surgeon came in at 5:15 or so. Said it wouldn't be long. The doctor is wonderful and had taken longer doing a surgery scheduled before me. I am understanding and know that can happen. They took me back at 6:00 and I was in Recovery at 7 p.m. Long day. None of which was the fault of the hospital. The only thing negative is that I can't seem to have a nurse put the IV in without a problem. My arm is bruised and I have a lump where the nerve is that was hit with the needle that is still very sensitive. In 2017, the nurse put the IV in the underside of my hand. I have had pain in that part of my hand ever since. I am hoping that once the bruising is gone, the nerve sensitivity will settle down in my arm as well. I have had quite a few surgeries and IV's put in, but not in the places these nurses put them in. Seems they don't put IV's in the places that I am accustomed to having them placed. I wouldn't care where they put the IV as long as it didn't hurt me, but that's not been the case here at Johnston Willis. Two out of two times is not good! I'm just glad to be okay and trying to recover now from the surgery and the IV.
