I'll give them three stars because *most* of my stuff made it to my new home, and there was minimal damage.
That being said, after the initial booking was made, there was little-to-no follow-up by the office staff before, during, or after the move. The moving crew supervisor informed me while loading the truck that absolutely no liquids were allowed for this long-distance move, and that his notes showed that "client was aware" of the liquid prohibition. No, I wasn't. It is a significant thing that I would've remembered had I been told. As far as I can tell, it is not mentioned anywhere in the contract. Even if I had forgotten (which is a remote possibility), a mention of the liquid prohibition should have been made during a pre-move check-in by the company. Since no such check-in was made, no notice or reminder of the liquid prohibition was made.
At the end of the move, the company attempted to charge the wrong credit card for the remaining payment. Okay, everyone makes mistakes. However, I had been assured that the incorrect credit card information was going to be removed from my account. It was not. If it had been removed, as I had been told, the billing mistake would/could not have been made.
During my move-in in Los Angeles, the crew supervisor informed me that suspicious characters were eyeing the truck, and my belongings. However, he made no effort to secure the truck or protect my belongings. During the unpacking process, I've discovered that at least one large packing box is missing, along with a few other items (such as four fire extinguishers) that I had turned over to the crew supervisor. His casual disregard for the safety and security of my belongings is upsetting.
I've texted the crew supervisor about the missing items, but I have been ignored. (I believe the expression these days is that I'm being "ghosted.")
I contacted the company through their website, and indicated (via drop-down choice menu on the site) that my "preferred method of contact" was via email. A company sales representative promptly(!) telephoned me. While I appreciated the response, it was contrary to my specific request. This contact was on Saturday, and the sales rep assured me that I would be contacted by someone from the operations department the next day (Sunday). It is now Tuesday, and I haven't heard from anyone at Meathead Movers. I am not surprised.
Final note: My moving crew never jogged. Not once. I'm fine with that. Even the moving crew supervisor told me that the crews themselves wished that Meathead Movers would not promote the jogging aspect of their moves because it is wildly impractical, and often impossible.
Edit on October 18, 2021: I'm raising my rating to 4 Stars from 3 Stars because the company dealt with my loss and damage claims professionally and fairly. I can accept that.
