Digital Hassan Review of Google
Google search, Google maps, and YouTube are my fav...
Google search, Google maps, and YouTube are my favorite apps/sites because they provide very useful services both informational and educational. However, Google LLC including its parent Corporation Alphabet Inc., with all of their accumulated wealth and power is just a two star company for me for multiple reasons.
To start, it bows down to dictators in foreign countries and censor its online contents to appease those dictators without adequate legal challenges or protests in my opinion. Also, Google which is an American company relies heavily as it appears on customer service representative in foreign countries to provide support to its home base clients in the US. To me, this is taking important jobs away from our population evidently to save money. Dealing with these representatives I have a mixed feeling. Those that are working to help troubleshooting money making matters for Google such as Google Ads and for paid API keys are will technically well trained but little aggressive as sales persons. Yet they are helpful regardless. Those who work on other issues like Google review complaints or problems with sold items are very unhelpful and unfriendly for the most part.
The system Google provides for reviews of companies is very unfair and unbalanced. Anyone can leave a review almost completely unchecked. There is abundance of information online of people complaining about how fake negative reviews have tarnished their reputations and harmed their businesses. The same people also complain that Google refused to remove those reviews or verify the authenticity of the reviewers grievance with the businesses they are leaving negative reviews for. Google hides behinds some vague policies in its usual refusal to remove such disputed reviews. I had first-hand similar experience with this recently regarding one of my businesses. Also in my opinion, fake positive reviews are also flourishing online using the Google platform. Those fake negative and positive reviews are casting doubt on the quality of the services provided by those business rendering the whole review system ineffective. I have signed up with Google Partners recently as a local guide to try to fix this in my own way of doing things very fairly by providing reviews that are fair and unbiased.
Another issue I have with the Google operation is their failure to deliver on some of their promises. One notable case is the one related to the once very popular software among photographers called Nik Software. Google purchased the software company a few years back while the software was very hot item among serious photographers with the promise to improve and upgrade the software. Google did not deliver on its promise and did not update or improve the software. Not long after it bought the company it stopped providing any customer service support for software support of any kind. Later it offered the software as is for fee with no guarantee that it would work on any platform. Essentially taking the once very popular software to the ground. The company later stopped distributing the software for free and it appears that it sold it to another company where its future is uncertain.
Google that could afford hiring the best computer programmers in the world is not known to have user friendly sites. Just try to place a Google ad, create an embedded map or video, generate an API key, or a Captacha widget, and you would be easily able to verify what I am saying here.
This review contains my opinion on the Google operation. Feel free to fact check what I noted here and let me know what you think. Thank you for reading my review.
