Probably the worst international airport in the world. Essentially when you go there it's a communications black hole. You can't contact anyone and they can't contact you for however many hours you are at this airport. You can't tell your family you arrived safely before boarding your next flight. Your family can't contact you either. There's no obvious free WiFi to connect to and phone roaming is also not guaranteed to work either with their awful provider (if it does work you'll be paying $10 per MB or $8 a minute with roaming). Usually you have to go buy something from Starbucks and they give you a WiFi code for half an hour or 50MB of usage. Completely ridiculous.

The airport should offer an obvious free WiFi hotspot which works across the entire international departure lounge. The name should be something obvious like "SANTIAGO AIRPORT FREE WIFI". You could also have different names in Spanish and Portuguese as they also travel through there. There should not be a stupid sign in process with your browser where the aiport shows ads and other stupid stuff about Chile before you can connect then it disconnects you every 10 minutes. Travellers should be able to just connect to the WiFi and it works. If there's too many travelers using the WiFi, just rate limit everyone to 1MB/s bandwidth. That is plenty for email, calling, WhatsApp etc. If travelers need a faster option, let them purchase a faster speed. However they already paid a fortune in flights and I'm sure the airport is clipping the ticket by charging the airline. It is absolutely pathetic that there's no decent WiFi at the main international airport which is the gateway to South America.

Another stupid thing is that they search all your bags to confiscate water from you just before you board the flight. This is even if you bought the bottled water in the international lounge area. Chile must be really desperate to steal traveler's water because their local water is so bad. Or they are scared of the water bombers. H2O is really dangerous you know.

My final suggestion is to have a quiet area with some couches or reclining seats where people with a long layover can catch a bit of sleep before their next flight.
