Ben Oliver Review of Hotel Derek Destination Hotels...

When checking out the traffic on Google Maps back to the hotel this evening, I was shocked to see this didn t have a much higher rating! Scanning through some of the impactful negative reviews, it didn t seem right not to give my opinion.
I travel globally, and to Houston 2-3 times a year. I ve stayed in 5-6 hotels in the area before discovering Derek. I have since stayed 8 (or so) times.
Character: It has a fun and unique flare. Well considered decor, lighting, music, layout and finishing touches. Far from the dated, boring, stuffy vibes that you get elsewhere.
Staff: Always friendly and approachable. Helpful to each other too - you know when somewhere has a good culture when you see how well they onboard and support new staff (something I witnessed last night).
Food & Drink: Good quality grub, served quickly and with a smile. If you fancy something light, the watermelon and feta salad is great. Interesting and varied beers on tap, and knowledgable bar staff who are keen for you to try something new
Location: Walking distance to so much. Turn left for great restaurants and boutique shopping and turn right for even more at the Galleria Mall, and a CVS over the road for anything you forgot to pack.
Room: Granted, I ve only stayed in a Standard King, but it s great. Good layout & size, eclectic furniture, comfortable bed, cow themed robe, always well serviced. What more could you want.
Price: Compared to what you get for the same price (for much less) elsewhere in the area, it s an absolute no-brainer for me.
Fact: Never had a problem - nothing but good things to say.
Opinion: Book it
