I stayed at the Regent recently for the first time. Not the first time I've been there, I frequent the hotel bar regularly on visits to Singapore, with the walk through the hotel to get to the bar presenting a luxurious five star hotel, which convinced me to stay here.

On arrival this stay, the checkin process was simple and efficient. Going to our rooms involved alighting the glass window elevators that rise up over the lobby and the floors which wrap around you. Impressive in it's own right.

Once in the room, it was quite tasteful in it's simplistic luxury. The view was not interesting, but the little features such as universal adaptors against most power points was appreciated. The bathroom was nice, but it has a pet hate of mine: shower/baths instead of separate showers and baths (I'd be happy with just showers as I don't typically take baths).

Aside from that, the room was pleasant, and definitely worth a stay.

Onto the breakfast buffet: as with most 5 star hotels in Singapore, breakfast buffets are an extravagant affair, it would be hard to be disappointed. The only drawback was when what appeared to be a tour group full of Chinese tourists flooded the breakfast area and took over.

The highight of the hotel, and the main reason I stayed there, was for the hotel bar...the Manhattan Bar. Beautiful dark, gothic New York ambience with some of the best cocktails in the world. This isn't hyperbole, Manhattan Bar at that this hotel is ranked in the top 10 bars in the world, and the top bar in all of Asia.

Overall though, very nice hotel. Definitely recommend, 4.8 stars out of 5 (shower/bath irritates me)
