A quick summary: This is hands-down in my top 5 for the nicest hotels that I've ever stayed in. The unique experience at this hotel cannot be matched anywhere else in Waikiki or on the island for that matter. From the moment you enter the premises, you instantly feel you're taken to another time and place in the best way possible. The character of this hotel has been proudly preserved, which is immediately apparent by the pink facade of the building. We spent an hour each day walking around all parts of this hotel from the lush gardens to the historical exhibits throughout the building. If you want to be fully immersed in the hotel's history, choose a room labeled "Historic." If you want a taste of history with modern amenities in your room, choose a room in the Tower - it was not part of the original building but has been seamlessly incorporated into the overall property. Our full ocean view from the Tower was breathtaking. The shops in the main building are fantastic. You must visit Debbi in the Martin & McArthur art gallery. She has incredible knowledge about the hotel and the local artists showcased in her store. The hotel gives you coupons for daily free drinks/appetizers at the Mai Tai bar, which are a GREAT value. The Mai Tai bar is a fantastic place to grab a drink and snack on a cobb salad or ahi poke while watching the waves roll in. Make sure to reserve a pink umbrella and chairs beachside a day in advance as they get booked quickly - the cost is about $52, which is an incredible deal for a full-day reservation. This hotel seems more suited for couples than families with kids given the pool is very small, but Waikiki beach is steps away so the small pool should not be a dealbreaker. I cannot encourage people enough to choose this hotel - you will be so glad you did! We will never stay anywhere else when we come back to Oahu.
