The last K-mart within reasonable driving distance...

The last K-mart within reasonable driving distance of Illinois. Took the day off and made the 4-hour drive to Marshall. The staff was very nice, which seriously takes some of the bite out of an 8-hour roundtrip.
They don't have an electronics section nor the large clearance section I remember K-mart for. They did have some items I wanted and needed and I happily gave them the cash I would have given Wal-mart, which hasn't displayed any concept of customer service in a decade.
Their jewelry was discounted (some of it 75%) and I got a nice opal necklace.
Wanted to get Little Ceasars but one of their employees wasn't wearing a mask. Their fountain pop machine was empty anyway.
Still, if I can find a way to cut drive down to 2.5 hours one way I'd like come back a couple of times a month. Or they could just bring K-mart back to my hometown... 18 years of enduring Wal-marts progressive decline. Ughh...
