It was a magical place. Beware, lots of walking!!! Lots of history in the castle. Audiobooks made it great to learn even more about the castle. It was snowy when I came and very slippery both indoors and outdoors. It was hard to find the estate of Trianon, but did eventually find it. The gardens were beautiful but very muddy and slippery.

The numbers for the audioguide were wrong on the walls on the first floor. This was frustrating.

My only major complaint was they didnt have an area roped off when they first opened, so that is where I entered. Later, trying to go back to that area, which had an abundance of maps that I needed, I was stopped by a security guard. He didn't understand that that was where I came from and that I just wanted a map. He kept saying no, I didnt come from there, but it definitely was. All I wanted was a map. This guy also was very insistent on going in a certain way. I ended up walking the same part of the castle 3 times. He tried to upsell me to an expensive restaurant rather than a cafe. In the future, have the areas roped off before doors open to avoid situations like this. Also, have enough maps and maintain the areas with maps to ensure it is stocked.
