Review of Academy Ford

I ve been taken my 03 Ford Escape to Academy Ford ...

I ve been taken my 03 Ford Escape to Academy Ford in Laurel for more than 4years. On October 20 2015 the transmission start acting. The car can barely move forward and not in reverse at all. I managed to get the car to the shop. I was told that the problem is related to transmission and the car will need a new transmission. The cost for this is $4607. I later discover that all the Ford Escape have a transmission problem, which certainly is some kind of flaw that Ford don t want to admit for now. Anyway, I told them that I can t spend that much money on this car and that I will be better off getting a new one. The quickly propose me a variety of cars from the lot but I told them I want to rethink this. In reality, I wanted to sold the car to them, continue driving my wife car for now, save money and come back in January to put down a considerable amount for a new car. The sale guy, Van (great guy!) told me that he needed to have his manager appraise the car first. For a week I have been in touch with them and was finally told that with a bad transmission my Escape is only worth $500 minus the $114.78 for the diagnostic fee. I showed up on Saturday October 31st with my 9years daughter and my 7years son to finalize the paperwork and return the tags to MVA. Van told us that he can t do much and that the appraisal for the car is only $500. He then say that he will talk to his manager Scott to see if he can forfeit the $114.78 diagnostic fees. Here comes Scott with his false pride and he arrogantly told us why we are trying to sell them a non-drivable car??? What do you want us to do with it??? I will be losing money , I don t need to buy this car those are few of his words with such arrogance, it makes my stomach turns. I was like sir, I ve been talking to you guys for a week, and you are the one that wanted to buy the car. In fact, you told me to trade-in my Escape for a new Ford, what was that for then???? He quickly took us to the front office to pay the $114.78 and that was it. That day I left that place and Ford altogether. I went straight to a Toyota dealer and got myself their latest 4Runner. The environment there was different. Great service, great price, great people. I was like f*** that this is my money and I want to spend it at a place where I feel respected. I truly feel sorry for people like Derek Watson at service and Van over the sale, very nice people, who have to work hard to get customer in to be turn away by a fool like Scott, bossing around with their manager title. Very sad I will never recommend this place to any of my friends, never!!!
