It took nearly an hour and a half to pick up our cat despite having an appointment and there weren't any other visitors there. Communication between staff and their documentation was awful.
The FIV/FeLV test that we paid for was never completed nor documented that we wanted it. Instead, our cat was microchipped against our wishes, the documentation stating otherwise. I never saw that page of the adoption paperwork, or I wouldn't have signed it without correcting it. I'm not thrilled that our wishes were not listened to and that they were documented incorrectly. I would have been more upset if I was forced to pay for the microchip. Although having a microchip isn't the end of the world, I didn't want one that day. Why couldn't they just respect that.
Overall, the entire adoption process was completely fine except for pick-up day. The staff were nice and fixed our issues we had in the end. Our cat was test for FIV/FeLV before we left and we didn't have to pay for the microchip. Our loving, sweet kitty was 110% worth the wait and hassle!
I'm not sure if I'll ever adopt again from DCHS. I don't get good vibes if they perform procedures without our consent.
