I took my damaged bike to the cycle hub after being hit by a car. The driver immediately claimed responsibility and offered to pay for the damages. The cycle hub carried out the repair but charged the driver a small fraction of the cost, while billing me the rest, claiming that a lot of the work was added by them as standard service work that I had to pay for, even though the bike was in good working order before I took it to them.

It's a shame that a cycle hub like this is not standing on side of cyclists who are braving the roads to support cycling to work. Drivers should be encouraged to treat cyclists with the same vigilance as another vehicle, and should pay the fair price if they injure a cyclist. In this case it was the opposite, not very encouraging.

On the plus side, the workmanship was good, although I had to return the bike a few days later as the chain they replaced mine with was faulty.
