I'm someone who's no stranger to being a hospital ...

I'm someone who's no stranger to being a hospital patient. In addition to that though, I also have numerous traumatic experiences that make my hospital stays incredibly difficult. I'm also hyper-alert and really struggle when I hear the things that other patients are going through. But when I went to Palmdale Regional a few days ago, and for the first time at that, I was surprised to learn that every hospital room of theirs is private. This sort of thing may seem insignificant to many people but to me, it was huge...because I was able to focus on myself and my medical care with minimal distraction from what other patients were going through. I was easily able to focus on my healing because the staff at Palmdale Regional were kind, compassionate and encouraging; they listened to my concerns with open hearts and non-judgmental ears--this particular thing is crucial to mention because I believe that all of these things combined, are what made this hospital the best experience at a hospital I have ever had in my life...and I don't say that lightly. I would absolutely go here again, and would tell others to do so as well!! Compassion and valuing the things patients have to say/constantly remembering their humanity, combined with the understanding that patients have different needs, makes Palmdale Regional exceptional in my book.
