If you don't mind a lot of walking and lines, AND you want to understand visually the grandeur of French royalty, then visit Versailles palace and gardens we took a skip the line tour which was faster, though i can't imagine what it was like to wait to get in without a special pass. Bring your flat walking shoes and be prepared to climb and descend many stairs. 97% of the palace has no place to sit and you have to walk on cobblestones to get to the entry. If you're claustrophobic, you should probably avoid Versailles.
