Let me start off by saying some of the folks that work here are very pleasant, knowledgeable and helpful.
However, there are plenty of reasons why Ponce Denim Co. deserve one star but the main reason is their no refund policy (and the owner Sandy s general rudeness).
I was not told of their no refund policy when I purchased a pair of jeans, then found the same pair online cheaper. I took the jeans back to PDC and was told of their no refund policy. After explaining that I was not aware of this policy, I was directed to my receipt where they indicate this no refund policy (which is weird because if it s on the receipt it s too late because you ve already purchased the item). I was then told the owner would be in the next day and to come back to talk to her.
So the next day I walk in and talk to Sandy, the owner. I calmly explained that I did not know of their policy when I bought the jeans and that I do not expect a refund, and then I asked for some clarity of their policy and why they do not issue refunds. Her reply to anything I said from then on was basically to the line of, It s our policy I don t have to explain anything. (To her credit she does not have to explain).
At one point she asked me if I shop at Gucci or Lous Vuitton, confused, I reply no . Then she asks if I shop at Walmart so I say I guess? . The she made her point of telling me whatever their policy is is their policy, I don t have to explain mine and neither do they.
At this point Sandy started to get a bit heated and interrupted my reply to exclaim that I knew of the policy when I bought the jeans and that it was basically impossible that I didn t because all of their employees say it verbally to every customer, that there is a sign, and that it s on the receipt (I read the sign when I bought the jeans and it s wording is a bit confusing, so I thought it was only referring to sale items).
I told her that the lady who checked me out did not inform me of their policy, to which she replied, oh! Well then i m going to fire her because that s our policy! .... um okay, a bit drastic but you also don t need to make me fee like it s my fault?
Nobody should ever have an experience like this in a retail setting. It was one if not the most unprofessional experiences I have ever had in a shop.
I suggest not shopping here. Again, some of the employees here are fine but the store as a whole needs a lot of work.
If you read more reviews of this place you ll see experiences like this are pretty regular.
