I was recruited to work in their office on Connect...

I was recruited to work in their office on Connecticut ave. They must train their entire staff to fake being happy (I do know the owner, Helen, said that everyone must be optimistic who works for her) because I fell for it. I got along with everyone, and the job they sold me sounded ideal, and I was very excited...until I was called with an offer of employement.

The offer, job, and even job title was nothing that we had discussed, and was below my skillset. Plus, they wanted me to take a decrease in pay and responsibilities, but it's worse than this. I met with the owner on a Tues, and I told her I had 2 job offers pending. On thursday I emailed and asked for an update. I was emailed that same day and they told me to come in as quickly as possible, for a third interview--by now I have met 10 people. So, I do go in and again all the mtgs went well and I was told to expect an offer. Now I have two other companies waiting for response from me, and the people at Midtown still never said anything about a lower level position or decrease in pay. Friday afternoon finally comes around at 345pm and I get the job offer, and I learn of the new job (that is nothing we spoke of including the decrease in pay). When Nick tells me all this...I'm in shock so I dont accept the offer and he says he will try to get me more money.

This is 3 days after two other jobs extended offers to me, and they knew I was waiting for their offer. I accepted another job without telling them until 8pm on Friday night. I waited to see if the people at Midtown thought anything about what they were trying to do to me, or if they respected my other job offers. Of course not. They don't care and I really think they thought I needed their job that badly.

Let me tell you--Helen Stefan the owner, is fake, narcissistic, and a liar. She's one those that thinks she's SO important, and she is very sly. By offering me a lesser job and money, she would have still tried to get all the knowledge, and work out of me...except she didn't want to pay for it.

I am very lucky that I didn't need her job, and I am writing this in hopes to warn people about the way Midtown's office is run. If you can take your business and work somewhere else then please do so and don't support her efforts.

I used to have my own staffing firm, and as a man that ran an honest business...Helen is NOT an honest person. She made me wait 3 days for her job offer which she gave on a Friday at 345pm, and Helen didnt even bother to finalize the offer on Friday...I would have had to wait all weekend for Monday to come just to see what the final offer would have been. Needless to say...I refused Midtown's offer and I removed my candidacy....I also emailed Helen Stefan and told her she and her team lied to me.

If they will lie to me, then they most assuredly will lie to you.

You never should not tell someone when interviewing them that you are thinking of a lesser job, while verbally selling the better job. That's lying.

Consider yourself warned!
