I visited Austin Texas for the very first time with my family Sunday March 8, 2015. We were prompted to meet additional family members at Hula Hut for dinner. It was a total of 18 of us. We waited for over an hour, which a wait is generally expected when you have a large group, so understandable. What was not understandable, and totally unacceptable is that only 5 entrees were served and the rest of our meals they seemed to be out of some ingredients to complete the entree. When we asked to speak to a manager, she came to the table and we explained the situation she said yes i'm aware of it. Right away, I knew this was going to go in a direction I was not going to be pleased with. As a manager if you are aware that that many people at our table did not get our meal you should have already come to our table to address the issue.
So we continued to discuss the situation at hand, her statement was "well we cook our food fresh and we are out of ingredients unfortunately." My response was " How are we going to handle this situation? We have waited a long time to be seated, additional time to wait for our food only to be told it will not be coming out." Her response was "Well if you can order a burger there are other things on the menu you could have ordered since you eat beef so there will be no compensation."
I am a business owner, and my husband owns a separate business. We have a complete understanding of customer service and this indeed was the furthest from it. I have never been advised of something so absurd from someone in a position of authority. Typically, I do not have time to write complaints. However, this indeed took me over the top and I had to make time to sit down and post this review. I do not have the manager's name, however she was caucasian with eye glasses and several tattoos. This is a description of the lady that was very rude to our party and served no purpose. Our waitress even stated: "I'm new and she's scary". It was after 10 pm at night and more than half our party had no dinner at this point. They were out of burger patties, avocados for the stuffed avocados, ribs, etc. I am extremely upset, and will never visit this restaurant again due to this experience. I would not even give it one star, however it would not allow me to publish my review without a star. If she had suggested something as minimal as 10% or any type of suggestion of compensation for the inconvenience, even as little as a gift certificate for future visit we would have been okay. It would have showed us that she appreciated our patronage and was understanding of the inconvenience that was caused. There was no acknowledgement or appreciation of any form.
