Building and space is really nice. Quality of exhibitions has variable for me.

A famous small gallery. I find it to be an ok experience with some moderately interesting exhibits. The cafe is pleasant but has gone downhill since it moved within the building; good food but sometimes a little sloppy in table cleaning etc. Having said that, this place is one of the hearts of the white chapel community so it deserves to be supported.

Always something good on here, and the coffee's not bad either. Well worth a visit.

Gallery of contemporary art. Very interesting if you like the genre.

Free gallery. I haven't been amazed by the exhibition at the time I went.

Great art gallery with remarkable temporary exhibitions (William kentridge was amazing )
Also has a nice small book shop and a very good cafe which now does wine night on Thursday and Friday's

I stayed at my friend's apartment in London during my holidays. When I looked outside my window I was amazed by this beautiful building, "Whitechapel Gallery". I got my tickets, and spend the afternoon surrounded by great contemporary art pieces! Very nice !!!

I stayed in the apartment of my friend in London, when I go to my window to see the view, suddenly I see a beautiful building "Whitechapel Gallery". I decided to buy my ticket and there I went! I was all afternoon surrounded by contemporary art, not very classic but very cute !!

It worths the visit. It has one open gallery where you can access for free and there are another one with seasonal expositions where you have to pay. It's a nice place, the hostess is nice and very helpful. I just expected it to be bigger.

Really enjoyed my (brief) visit, and the place is straightforward to access (via steps) from the tube. Maybe there's a lift from the tube too, though I saw no signs for one. I only spent about 15mins at the gallery as I was due elsewhere. Went to the shop and a free exhibition space.

Excellent food, small enough that the service is really sharp with friendly staff, good menu and much better than kfc next door if you were considering that instead. not cheap but very good value for the quality of food on offer

I really like this gallery, a bit further out from the centre but a must see.

The Whitechapel Gallery is a public art gallery in Aldgate on the north side of Whitechapel High Street, in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets in the East End of London and Central London. Designed by Charles Harrison Townsend, it was opened in 1901 as one of the first publicly funded galleries for temporary exhibitions in London, and it has a long track record for education and outreach projects, focused on local people. It exhibits the work of contemporary artists, as well as organising retrospective exhibitions and shows that are of interest to the local community.

A nice quiet place to wander, not really my subject of enjoyment but a nice chill place to go

I have been here twice and the exhibitions were very boring and poorly presented.

Beautiful place, with great art pieces. What I loved most about here is the service. The staff are friendly and helpful.

Peaceful place to visit, nicely laid out galleries, exhibitions regularly updated.

I love art and I love the sculptures of this place, they also have some nice food and the pieces of art are amazing.

A gallery that is not much on the mainstream arts circuit, but worth knowing. Admission free.

I walked through the wrong door and was hustled out forcibly for not having a sticker on my jacket. Not impressed with the customer service! Either provide better signage or make it free. Art is about creating a response in the viewer, and this woman certainly did that....but won't be going back there anytime soon .

Feeling a bit tired and desperate after all these years. Feels like an agenda driven institution rather than an art institution.

I'm an art geek, and this place came highly recommended. With good reason. Amazing space, with great curation, context, contrast, comparison, and impactful artworks.

Take this review with a pinch of salt. I'm not a fan of conceptual art. If you like conceptual art you'll love this gallery. I had heard that the Whitechapel Art Gallery were displaying previously unexhibited works from the civil service collection. Obviously that was only a temporary arrangement. There is nothing there more than 50-60 years old. There is a lot of multi-media and mixed-media work, over two floors, plenty to discover in a small premises. Cafe and gift shop.

Small but such a great space. Free to enter (donations always encouraged of-course) and worth a stroll. There were 3 major exhibition areas on my visit including the amazing collection of George Loudon and some very comfortable art (there were climable pillow hills). Also a great book store that's worth a perusal.

Love this place. Some of the shows are better than others but it's a good atmosphere and well Thought Out

A really lovely building both inside and out.
On the day we visited there were very few exhibits that caught our attention and it did feel a bit like they were between exhibitions with some spaces empty. Worth a visit and I'm sure it would be great on another day.

Was not impressed of not in favour of the art work inwhich one of them being a broken ladder!!

Small but very useful and interesting. I enjoyed my visit there. There are a lot of various exhibitions and events. Very nice cafe too and close to a tube station.

Always coming here because they have loads of free exhibitions and huge modern variety of art. Great cafe as well.

Great artistic corner in east London. Shame it's not bigger. Very good temporary exhibition made by a local school.

I went to see a free exhibition which was just ok. The building is nice and clean and the whole exhibition well organized at the least.

They always have interesting proposals, totally recommended

It wasn't worth the visit for me, I'd go to the British Museum or the National Gallery instead.

Very disappointing if we take into account the rave reviews that are everywhere. There is not much to see in reality.

Server is 10 out of 10 , Beautiful Art Gallery . I am feeling go again next weekend
