Today did full eye exams there and cause they don t have my prescription glass I was forced just to take my recipe and prescription and leave cause I was leaving town in the morning. When open my recipe there was not PD pupil distance on it at all. They charge me 140$ For my diopter without checking the most basic stuff? Doctor was great but opticians are not helpful at all. When I called after and asked why they didn t check they they told me that is extra and btw I never ask for any price. Just wanted full eye egsam.won t recommend. Very expensive and not full service

Since Dr. Katz is less involved, the practice, in my opinion, is suffering. The desk staff seem clueless, sloppy and in some cases downright aggressively rude. It took a month to get my contact order straightened out, and I am still not sure they gave me the right prescription. I am disappointed to see the increasing lack of professionalism and will seek a different practice next year.

I've been using Dr. Katz and TSO for my eye care for at least fifteen years. The vision and medical eye exams are fast and excellent, and the selection of frames will fit anyone's taste. Classic to eclectic, fashionista to frugal, and everything in between: they've got it at TSO Galveston. The staff will actually listen you, and help you select frames that suit your face, your look, AND your budget. The only caution I can mention is that once you go there, you won't want to go anywhere else.

This doctor cannot do math!! He gave me a bottle that lasts 11 days for a 28 day set of instructions. After several attempts to get it corrected, I called him myself ( I am a good pharmacist and CAN do math), he continued to argue with me. He is an arrogant gasbag, too sure of himself to ever admit that he made a mistake

I was a patient of TSO for several years. I called today to refill my contacts. They said that I would need to come in for an appointment. I asked if it could be this week and they said no they were booked up. I have an urgency to get this taken care of this week so I asked what the last prescription was on my lenses and the receptionist said no she would no share my own personal information with me. I will be asking for my records to be released today in person... She was extremely short with me on the phone and offered no solution or help or even an explanation. I will no longer be a patient here after the way I was treated by the receptionist this morning and the hassle this has created for me. I would not recommend them unless you don't mind being talked to in a disrespectful and unprofessional manor.

After reading your response I would like you to understand that I had no issues with laws or policies. Honestly I understand that and respect that. at the same time I asked for general information about my prescription and they refused to give it to me. I did not ask if it was expired I just wanted the numbers. Literally I got off the phone walked over there and asked for my medical history which of course hipaa laws require you to provide... Low and behold, clear as day the information I asked for wow not so hard after all.... Don't act like I was asking you to do something illegal... The truth is they were being disrespectful and short and less than helpful. THANKS...

I was in Galveston last weekend and my son lost his glasses on Sunday. Monday morning called TSO and they were able to see us and to my surprise able to make my son a new pair of glasses. The whole process took about an hour and a half. They saved the rest of our vacation so Thank You!!

Dr Brownlee is great and professional, but unfortunately even with an insurance discount, the prices are high. Just for a contact exam (did not purchase contacts yet) it came out to an amount just shy of 200.00. That was with a 20% discount! This is higher than a lot of places offer for patients without insurance.(My husband doesn t have vision insurance and pays less than $100) When I questioned if the price was correct the first receptionist was rude and sighed then stated she would get her colleague to explain it to me. The second receptionist was kind and professional. Lastly, the trial contacts they gave me were expired!(I didn t notice until I got home.) Ultimately, I will visit another eye doctor next year.

Update: The next day I called and the staff ordered and replaced the expired trial contacts. They did not apologize for this oversight, but they did replace them quickly. The overall dissatisfaction was not only due to price, but the way the receptionist responded as if I was dense and didn t understand. In customer service sometimes it is how you say things versus what you say that can make the difference of a satisfied customer or a disgruntled one.

Very happy with the expertise and friendliness of the staff & physicians. Very short wait time, answered my questions completely and left me more knowledgeable about my eyes.

David & the staff there in the eyeglasses portion of the shop will get you set up with the very best eyewear at affordable prices. Thank you TSO!

Dr Brownlee spends quality time with his patients which enables him to listen to their concerns, answer their questions and provide an exceptional and professional service to his clients. The staff is always very friendly, polite and professional each time we have visited. We live in the Houston area and I would highly recommend going to TSO Galveston if and when you are ever in need of eye care..well worth the drive!!

READ THE REVIEWS!!!!! IT IS TRUE!!!!! This place ONLY cares about $$$$ They don't give a **** about anything .. I took my daughter here then I decided change to this location "Mistake" With my appointment the equipment that takes pictures broke so they never took picture. I was getting 2 pair of glasses. A nice pair and a cheap pair for work but when I looked at the cheap glasses the associate older lady walked away, ignored me but when I went to look at the expensive ones my other pair she then came over to help me. I wanted 2 pair of glasses but the lady wasn't eager to help so I left......

I wanna give this place a 5 star rating I just wish I payed attention to the persons name who helped me so I can put them in the review. But everybody on there staff was very helpful. I went to academy for costa sunglasses and nobody there could help me get the right color lenses so I didn't feel comfortable spending roughly 300 on a pair of glasses if they weren't right for me so I stopped by here and these people really know what there talking about. Good job guys keep up the good work thank you for the costa glasses!!!!!!

The people who work here are friendly. It s a cool looking store. My appointment was 9am, but they didn t unlock the door until nearly 9. Then I had to wait for computers to boot up before they could check me in. My appointment started about 10 minutes late. Their equipment is state of the art. I felt I had an accurate exam. I had to pay $40 for a prescription, uncovered by insurance, even though I ordered new lenses from them. Who knew an eye exam didn t include an RX???

I have to change my original review & give this place four stars. Not 5 because it is still the most expensive exam I ever had & they could have been more forth right about the mounting charges. That said I have to say the Dr is spot on, his staff is courteous & professional. The Dr wouldn t give me my contact lense prescription until I at least tried on the lenses he ordered...have to say he was correct & I am loving these toric lenses. I left my original unflattering review below so people who may have seen it know I did change my mind.

I wanted to patronize a local business instead of big chain optical...won t do that again. $167 for an eye exam. They love to say they dilate your eyes every exam but if you make they mistake of saying diabetes that free exam becomes medical in my case free cost me $60. Then I was told I have astigmatisms for the first time ever...been wearing contacts 40+ years by the way so that put me into their intensive range or whatever so needless to say that took my exam up. $167 with insurance...I have paid totally out of pocket before less...the Dr won t sign my prescription for contacts until I do the fitting so I m stuck doing that...after that I will never set foot in there after that. Pearls, Visionworks, etc...here I come.

As always, Dr. Brownlee and staff are knowledgeable, courteous and friendly. I continue to drive 3+ hrs each year for my annual eye exam given the level of professionalism displayed and the quality of care he and his staff provide. In addition, they offer a wide selection of quality eye wear and are very customer oriented. Kudos TSO Galveston.

Intentionally will not give you your PD unless you buy their extremely marked up frames. Their prices are sometimes 6x what you could find elsewhere! Don't use them for eye exams! Called to confirm information over the phone and was given the wrong information. Blonde female optician is extremely rude. She was rude and had an attitude when she first greeted us. How ever if you insist on still going here David the optician is extremely helpful and friendly.

Bad billing service. I had updated my address and phone number after my last eye exam and glasses purchase. I used my vision insurance, and we all know that sometimes not aleverything gets covered, and we I left with a pending balance that was sent back from the insurance. Well TSO never removed my old information and failed to contain me with my new info in their database. After a month they sent a $25 pending balance to collections. WOW, like they would never see me again after going to them for 3 straight years not missing one eye exam. They suck, greedy jerks!

This place is amazing. I got in today at 3pm, and at 5, I had a brand new pair of glasses that I love. Dr. Brownlee is knowledgeable and personable, the front desk staff are kind and efficient, and the two people who helped me choose my frames and fit them correctly were both amazing and adorable. I ll never be going anywhere else for my eye care.

I tried to explain to the receptionists that I choose to get my son's eyes dilated every two years, as I've read that is perfectly acceptable for a healthy child. When I walked away I heard them talking about my decision disparagingly. It was very rude and unprofessional, it made me feel uncomfortable. The exam was thorough and the optician kind, but the overall feeling of this office is snobby. We won't be back.

I have been going to TSO for years. The selection of fabulous frames has gone down tremendously. A big disappointment when I had my eyes tested and for the first time ever could not find a nice frame. If it was not for Tiffany with her great customer service I would not go back.

I recently had prescription lens put in my Oakley sunglasses. The eye exam I received was the most thorough I have ever had. Would I recommend anyone...you bet. My sunglasses had to be sent back to Oakley because they are under warranty and I am waiting on them now, but I am confident that the work will be as professional as the service I have thus far received. They are patient and courteous. I am very happy with them.

I honestly walked in not knowing where to look nor how to use my insurance. I was helped the moment I stepped in to the store! The front desk helped me better understand my insurance and the assistant showed me countless frames allowing me to find the perfect match! Also, the interior is unique and marvelous to look at!

As I was trying to tell the Dr Dantin, OD that my son couldn t see she snapped at me and said give me a minute! Wow! And she s always trying to use her sweet tone which is so fake.

It s my job as a mother to speak for my son since he is still a minor. I can t stand this place. Each time I ve come here...the customer service is terrible.

This place has great doctors but the contacts are UNREASONABLY overpriced. The same AIR OPTIX Night&Day Aqua contact lenses I needed were priced $100 (a box) here compared to $62.96 (a box) at Sam s Club and the price matching Eyeconic.com website. That is a $148.16 difference after four boxes (for a year supply). Absolute mad. Go elsewhere and save your money .

Every visit for the past 3 years has been a pleasant experience. The Manager, Dr s and the whole crew are always great to work with and questions are answered as needed. The most modern technology is utilized and the Dr s are very knowledgeable about any new options available. The quality of their lenses and frames far exceed any mall type eyeglass outlets. 5 Treatment...

TSO in Galveston is fabulous beginning the minute you walk in the door! The staff are friendly and happy with their jobs The entire experience is positive! Their selection of frames is wonderful with a vast variety. I drive for two hours just to have them do my eye exam and purchase my glasses because I know that I will be completely satisfied......and will have frames that make this ole lady look sassy!!!

This place ordered tests without getting insurance approval then tried to charge me for them even though I had asked if the insurance agreed to the additional tests and was lied to.
TSO missed my cataracts so could not explain why my vision was always blurry. This happened in 2 different TSO offices. They do lots of fancy testing and it costs a lot of money but they missed cataracts.
My opinion is you can't trust them.

Dr. Katz and his staff have been helping me see well (and look better!) for over 11 years. Dr. Katz is amazing and the staff are so friendly and knowledgeable. I enjoy the personalized service, and know that each time I walk into the office, I will be greeted with a kind word, treated with care and respect, and enjoy my time there. Great place, and frames like no other! I always leave with a smile on my face, knowing I have been taken care of well!

Simply the best.
I can't say enough good things about this place. You can get an eye exam anywhere, but my husband and I drive over an hour to come to this TSO. The staff is professional, friendly and always helpful.
Dr. Brownlee was thorough and took the time to address all my concerns - overall it was the most accurate eye exam I have ever had & I didn't even have to get dilated - win win.
Tiffany is INCREDIBLE - she will make almost any frame fit your face perfectly (no more headaches!). Great practice run by an Optometrist who truly cares about his patients.

Recently purchased my second pair of frames and lenses, but noticed small iridescent logos in the lens glass. I live a block away, so after calling and explaining, I walked over to show the ladies at the front desk who promptly suggested that it was normal to have shiny embedded logos randomly positioned in my lenses. I ve worn dozens of pairs of glasses over the last 20 years and have never seen branded lenses in prescription glasses. I assumed they might be axis reference marks that weren t removed, but the logo is embedded in the coating. Regardless, after spending a few hundred dollars, I can t stand to wear them and ordered several pairs online for a third of the price. It s a shame because this store offers such unique frames, but can t persist with such high prices and incongruently terrible customer service.
