They do things and have everything you might need near by. If you plan on using the trolley going to towards Fisherman s wharf then catch it at the bottom of the hill. Center of the city, quite lively, surrounded by stores such as Macy's and Saks. Currently winding down the winter season with only the ice rink remaining. From what people had been telling me, I was expecting it to be dirty and dangerous. That hasn't been the case.

Definitely a great shopping experience if that's what you're looking for. Shops and stores and restaurants as far as you can walk and tons of great people watching opportunities. This is definitely one of the places to check out if you're in San Francisco.

Union square is more like, the center of the city....

Union square is more like, the center of the city. Nothing special, but is normally the meeting place for your buses. Busy place in the middle of stores and hotels. Close to train station and cable cars. A good place to start your day, but nothing to really see.

There's always fun stuff going on, it can be art, a gathering, cultural events... This is a nice place where the weather is nice, grab some food or a drink and enjoy the sunshine. Don't forget to take pictures of the heart art on the corners of the square.
