Simply Extraordinary! We had our wedding at the Peter Shields Inn this past weekend. They graciously accommodated 100+ of our guests and provided extraordinarily professional service, extreme quality gourmet food, a scenic overlook that cannot be beat, and a feeling of home that cannot be matched. We are absolutely ecstatic with the outcome of the event.

Delicious, with a gorgeous view of the beach! Lovely piano music serenaded us as well. Elegant setting with a price fixe three course meal if you arrive before 5:30. Attentive service but BYOB, though we bought the Cape May Vineyards wine that they sell and it was fine.

The best food I ve eaten in South Jersey so far! Yes I am I am a chef myself for 22 years, been in the business a little over 30. In the 90s I worked in some of the finest gourmet restaurants Atlantic City had to offer.. Make sure you BYOB! Otherwise, they have a charming selection of locally crafted wines that they sell, not serve

We had our wedding at Peter Shields March, 2018. Amy, the wedding coordinator, was extremely professional and handled all details, and made the day flow seamlessly. The guests were impressed with the menu choices, the beauty of the Inn, and the piano music by Kahlil. I would highly recommend this venue if you want an intimate and elegant wedding!

My husband and I went here for our 10yr anniversary. Reservations were competitive due to Covid (around here restaurant reservations usually isn t that competitive during the off season). Our waiter was great - attentive without being suffocating and very knowledgeable of the menu. The ambiance was great for an anniversary dinner - with views of the ocean from a window at the front. The food was absolutely delicious - we didn t have room for dessert even though the dessert menu looking so enticing.

This was the best restaurant experience (food and service) we had during our time in Cape May. We ended up having the terrace to ourselves due to a late reservation and it was the perfect end to our small getaway to Cape May. Highly recommend eating here! They also fully accommodated Gluten free (The Majority of their menu is GF...)

We enjoy coming to PSI every year for dinner.
The ambience is just lovely. The cuisine is delicious. The service and presentation is excellent. Chris is a wonderful waiter and
makes our evening a special occasion.
BYO wine. Bon Appetit.

My husband and I absolutely loved our much-needed weekend getaway at PSI. The interior is absolutely stunning, with delightful antiques and beautiful common areas for all to enjoy. The rooms are absurdly gorgeous, even the bathrooms. The service from employees was friendly and wonderful, and the rates were a truly good deal, especially considering all that was included.

Restaurant Week in Cape May. Peter Shields Inn is a great place to come for dinner. The food is always very good and the staff is excellent. We had the Potato Leek Bisque and Lightly Grilled Tuna with Shrimp Risotto. Thoroughly enjoyed the meal. This is one of our favorite places. We enjoy dining on the front porch when available to sit and look out at the ocean. Restaurant Week is a good deal and makes the meals very affordable but we'll be back long before the next restaurant week. PSI is also a BYOB. Many restaurants in Cape May area are BYOB which helps keep costs down.

We stopped here for dinner when almost every place in town was closing. They were extremely accommodating and the food was amazing. We got the summer corn soup and the burrata salad for appetizers. For the main course we had the chicken, roasted pork, the mushroom fusili and the gnocchi. Best food during our 2 day trip.

We miss this magnificent establishment. Listening to Kahlil Gunther on Facebook Saturday nights at 6pm is the only constant- the same wonderful concerts we always enjoyed while dining are heard on line. Other than that, my hosting pales to that of Amy and her front of the house crew. I have been told to take lessons from Kim, Kris, Peter, RJ, Sean, Dillon, Dottie, Megan and the balance of the wonderful waitstaff. Our food during these hours with Kahlil has been good and we are among the lucky- but compared to Carl and Jeremy our entrees are mere child s play. And don t even go into the end of meal mode, I totally lack compared to Chris, Martine, Tyler, Ben and crew. If you want to have a vivid Covid-19 dream, think of your last experience at this restaurant. This, too, shall pass, Be safe. Stay well. And hold tight for PSI s return!!

The Peter Shields Inn is perfect for a romantic dinner. I took my girlfriend there for Valentine's Dinner and we were impressed from the minute we arrived. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. They had rose petals all along the window sills with roses on the table and they had a piano player playing their grand piano in the main lobby. We started off with ordering the Butternut Squash with Smoked Trout and it was unbelievable. For our main course we had their Tenderloin and Scallops and both were out of this world. Their desserts were a nice ending to our meal. The sorbet is house made and delicious and their creme brule was just as good. The whole time it felt like we had four waiters as we never had to ask for fill ups on our water or wine. From start to finish this is one of the best restaurants to go to in Cape May. We will be going here again the next time we are Cape May!

I've been able to get subs from White House a couple of times and they were great. I would've gotten more during other visits if the line wasn't so long. White House Sub Shop is a very small place where you have to be in and out quickly. Believe me, they make great subs but be ready to order.

Hands down was one of the best restaurants we ve been to in town. Had the 7 course meal and we spent over two hours eating and enjoying the atmospheres. The piano player was heavenly and the staff always kept our glasses full. If you truly care about quality, details, and good service this is the place for you. Make resverations long in advance as seating is extremely limited.

The ambience is excellent. The decor is well done and the tables are spread out so the noise is at a minimum. The food and service were wonderful. We had a appetizer from the nightly special list which was Ceviche. This was light and tasty. My wife had the Halibut and I had the special fish, both dishes were excellent. She had the Creme Brulee for dessert and that also was excellent.

I could seriously write a novel on our experience with Peter Shields Inn, Amy and the entire staff at PSI are absolutely amazing!! They went above and beyond in every single way to make our stay, our wedding, our reception and our entire trip absolutely spectacular for us! From being such a gracious host to our vendors, the private lounge space in the basement, waiting on us hand and foot, to tying up every loose end for us, keeping the venue very private the staff even kept pedestrians on the street from stepping into the ceremony, managing musical cues, catering to our food allergies, and so much more!! Amy did a really good job at managing everything minute by minute in the background, making everything run smooth for exactly what *we* wanted, without ever getting in the way.

Had a great evening at this restaurant. We took advantage of the $ 40 menu for those arriving early (5:30 pm). There were three choices for starters, main course and dessert.
The tuna tartare appetizer was particularly successful.
What is very rare in this type of restaurant is that you CAN BRING YOUR WINE! There is no extra charge to unclog the bottle.
If you feel like it, you can finish your wine on the terrace at the front (sea view).

The restaurant is the best. Food was very good. The inn is also very nice. The room we stayed in was sufficient. Clean. Good amenities. The staff was all good. The cheese, fruit and wine snacks in the afternoon was a nice touch, but they could use a few more crackers to match the amount of cheese. And, maybe try to keep up with the wine demand, as the wine and crackers seem to get gobbled up in the first five minutes. I would reccomend and will go back. We enjoyed our stay.
