I would highly recommend this bike shop for all your repair needs. Having bought a retro mountain bike which needed some repair work I decided to drop the bike in on a Saturday morning on my way to work not expecting to have it again till during the week. Well as soon as I went to the workshop the guys seemed so enthusiastic. I needed new tyres and gear and break tune up. I think it was a guy called robbie ( sorry if I got it wrong) said go for coffee and when ya come back the bike will be ready. 20 mins later I arrive back and Robbie showed me a serious issue with rear cassette with broking gear teeth. So after working out a deal with manager a new cassette and chain were replaced there and then for a very reasonable price. The mountain bike that was left in no more than half an hour earlier was transformed in to a fully functional road hog. this bike shop puts alot of other bike shops including the mobile repair units to shame with their lack of customer service and extortionate prices. They also have a great selection of road bikes etc which are keenly priced. Thank you so much guys.

Great shop. Have had a bad run of luck with little things going wrong but the guys in Penny Farthing have always looked after me. Always been charged less than expected, and even had a tube replaced for free at 5:30pm as Robbie felt so sorry for me! Great shop, Great Staff.

Very disappointing. And sad.

I bought not one but two bikes there and they turned out well when I went to buy the older gentleman, I suppose that he was the owner, he attended to me and my partner very well, I think that despite being in quarantine, they continued to attend from the door and the attention in that moment was very good, of course because they wanted the money.

However, they sold us the idea that the store also provided maintenance and help services for any situation we had with the bicycle. Well, shortly after leaving the chain, it was damaged, we returned and they did not change them, since according to the worker who assembled it, he used a damaged chain.
Then I went to buy a bicycle basket because I need to have the tires checked and put on air, first when the staff entered they were eating at the reception and a young man, white green eyes, brown hair, with a disgusted face, attended me in a very bad and despot, they told me that for the basket I had to wait a few weeks for that bike they did not have but I could see some on display, since I had asked before I was going to buy it. Maybe they did not want to sell it because the snack interrupted but it is the reception of the premises. Why do they eat there in front of people?

They sent me to the back to take care of me because of the air and the rubbers a bearded guy who was very badly faced and with his mouth full of food told me that I would blow the rubbers myself that he did not do that and I I show an excuse bomb I didn't even know how to use. Not all of us know how to use esony and they were supposed to provide the service, I didn't mind paying for it because I wanted them to check them for a detail that the ring had.

He did not want to attend to me and told me to go to another store. That's where it bothered me. I'm the customer. And I felt humiliated.

I went back to the reception and I complained to another man, he is bigger and like a red-bearded man, he was not interested in the complaint but he helped me with the ring since I told him that I bought the bicycle there and since the bicycle has the logo of the store I guess that's why I thought twice before making fun of my face like the other.

Anyway, I suppose I will buy the basket through amazon and now I will have to go to another store if I need to repair the bicycle, a store where customer service is better, they made me feel very bad and the worst thing is that I cannot return the bicycle with the strange ring.
Very badly I hope that the owner takes letters in the matter and trains his staff in ATTENTION TO THE PUBLIC. respect, cordiality and good education.

Amateur shop. Repairs are slow and you can end up with missing parts on the bike.
I will avoid this shop from now on. After getting a tyre fix I ended up with no handlebar ends and no light. They lost it in the shop and deny it. They blamed me, even if just before entering the shop I have put the light on the bike.

WORST SHOP IN DUBLIN. AND EXPENSIVE.

Alot of bike shops in the city centre are a little to focused on sales, no this one. Great customer service from Ben who passed me over to the mechanics who did an unbelievable repair job on an older trek racer that I own. They even tuned the breaks which I thought were fine. I will definitely be back and would and highly recommend this shop for repairs in city centre. Fast turn around time too.

very poor service. I called them on the day of collecting my bike that I'm coming from outside the city so I need to travel long distance to get the bike.
when arrived at the shop they have the cycle assembled but did not include the all miscellaneous parts of the bike.
They did not give me lock wires, and I had to remind them that I paid for that.
They did not include the handlebar bell.
When I called them, they asked me to come over to the shop to get the bell.
I paid over 1000 quid for bike, the least service you can do is check if you've included everything.
It was my first bike and I had so many question about the bike and the Lad didn't care much about taking time to explain anything as if he's in some kind of a hurry to get me out of the shop

From the moment I decided to pick Pennyfarthing for my bike to work scheme I have been continually impressed and overwhelmed by the support and professional service they provide! Not ONE bit intimidating and I cannot believe they have serviced my bike free of charge and replaced a mudguard that has fallen off twice without asking for anything. I gave a description of what I was looking for bike wise and it is perfect for my needs. Stephen and the lads are so supportive. Would recommend to anyone ( and I have never written an online review that impressed)

Love this shop. You walk in and are immediately made feel welcome. Bought a Giant Rapid with Penny Farthing last year and am very happy with it. Regularly service the bike here too because it's reasonable, the guys give good advice and take care me and the bike. Great bunch of lads. Even popped in yesterday with a slight tyre problem, sorted it in minutes, no hassle, no fuss. Great service!

Myself and my boyfriend recently decided to purchase bikes on the bike to work scheme. After shopping around we decided to go with Penny Farthings as they had a great selection and the staff were extremely helpful when it came to choosing the right bikes. Two very satisfied customers.

called in this eve at 6.05 (they close @6.30) on my way from work & having issues with gears. asked if they could have a look and that I'd make it to the weekend if they were busy. they changed my gear cable right there and then. it's always been the same in this place, the service is just brilliant.

Brilliant, last weekend Graham and Ben replaced some components on my bike and they did a brilliant job, no issues whatsoever .The work was completed the same day, given how last minute it was I was very impressed how confident they were they would have my bike ready so quickly. Bravo.

Just popped in to enquire about getting a service done on my bike.

I was advised it would be 25 for a full service but the staff were kind enough to have a quick look at the bike anyway. They oiled my chain and tweaked the gears a little, which is all the bike needed. All free of charge.

Very friendly and i will definitely be going back again if i need anything done with my bike.

Picked up a wonderful little Tern folding bike here for my commute to work over a year ago. Love it so much. After care has been fantastic. Such a great spot. Guys are always so friendly and helpful with great advice and support if you have any issues or questions about maintaining the bike. Great bike service option here too. Can't recommend them enough.

Unbelievable treatment and lack of communication and ended up buying my bike elsewhere.

Full context; in June I wanted to buy a Brompton with the Bike 2 work scheme. I came to Penny farthing and they were really helpful in letting me test the bike. I then went it and placed a custom order. They said it would take 2 months.

5 days later I had 1 missed call and NO voicemail message from them. 2 months later I went in to ask for my bike. "Brompton cancelled all orders and yours was cancelled too. They accept orders again in a month and then it will take another 2 months". They claimed they had been calling me. They called me literally once without a voicemail. By that time I was already paying off Bike2Work.

They had a Brompton in stock so I asked if they could customize it with a different handlebar, gear ratio and seat. They were going to call Brompton and call me back. I didn't hear from them until I called them. It would take 2 weeks and no change to gear ratio. I agreed because I just wanted my bike as summer was almost over.
A week and a half later I walked in and they forgot to ask for the handlebar and the other pieces hadn't arrive yet. They would call Brompton again.
The next time I called them they told me they couldn't do it after all and would refund my deposit.

I called other bike shops in town and a week later I had my fully customized bike from another shop.

All at all they kept me waiting for almost 3 months with continuous promises of communication they didn't follow up on. They led me on.

I understand Brompton cancelled and they couldn't do anything about that, but they could have been straight with me instead of empty promises and lack of communication. We're talking a 1400 euro bike here. Customers deserve better.

The best bike shop in Dublin. Friendly, knowledgeable and down to earth staff. Great bikes at fair prices. We were replacing a stolen bike which had been bought at Penny Farthing just two weeks ago, a birthday present for our 16 year old son. They threw in some accessories as they were sorry to hear about his bad luck. Thanks guys you re so decent

Robbie in here is an absolute gentleman. I cycled in Dublin city for the first time as part of a new job. First day my bike gVe a few problems. They were opened before 9am, and he had my bike serviced by the time I was finished work that same day. Opened to 7:30pm too. Nice lads and have everything in one place. Don t rip you off either, charged me 14 which was reasonable for brake service, oiling chain, new gear cable and tyre check.

Will be back again for the bike to work scheme from my employer !

I bought my beautiful Giant bike 1 year ago and I have to say it is one of the most valuable assets I own. It is perfect both for an easy trail and for town and it is very good looking (orange and silver)!

I have always wanted a cool bike and the staff of Penny Farthing Cycles helped me along to make the choice. They were super patient and they really try to guide you through the best possible option both for accessories and bike.

You can really trust these guys in terms of customer and bike caring. Let me tell you a story. Few weeks ago I had my bike very badly stacked to another bike parked next to mine. After more than half hour trying to get them apart I went to the bike shop asking for guidance (as I was desperate). The guys were amazing! They first guided me through a possible self-service solution and then as I couldn't fix it on my own, they went out (5 minutes away from the shop) and they helped me getting my bike ''unstuck''.

They were amazing as they had no obligations but they were simply being caring! Ans as if the help was not enough, they even offered to help me get my bike up and running as I damaged it while trying to get it out on my own. They gave me guidance for taking care of it and I was then able to go and enjoy it!

If you are still unsure which bike shop to choose, Penny Farthing should be your choice!!

It s always when the chips are down that you see the best in service. Called in at 440pm and a damaged hub was diagnosed. I would have been stranded but everything was dropped there and then to get me on the road home. Can t ask for better help, service and care then that. Like A&E for bikes .....but one that works!

I brought here a second hand bike, I had buy the day before, to have it checked. The repair team was all you could ask for, they looked at the bike and knew already what needed to be done. They changed a wheel and fixed the breaks for the cheapest price. As a broke student, they were very comprehensive. I recommend this place to everyone.

I went to get my back tyre changed for a new one since it needed to be replaced , after an hour I came back to collect the bike and I been told that the back brake isn't working and I need to pay 15 euros more to get it fix if I like too. The thing is as I explain them that I haven't had any problems with the brakes before, basically it was working completely fine,
I Really try to make the person understand that I'm not sure why the brakes isn't working any longer after they change the tyre, if there was a problem I would have mentioned to them so it could be fix or give it a look, I wasn't going to pay extra money for something it was working fine before got to their hands.
At this point was my word against his.
It felt very frustrating .
I came to their shop trust them and payed 56 euros.
They left me go with the brokem brake they had broken by accident or they did not know what they were doing.

Rude staff and unfair: they told me the pedal of my bike was broken and should have been replaced, then I couldn't buy any utility from that shop (since I just wanted one nut to put again in place the pedal). So I have been in another repair shop and with just 0,50 for the nut my bike works again!

Absolute bunch of cowboys! Put a deposit of 100e on a bike and for unforeseen personal reasons I could not complete the transaction. In their eyes a 100e deposit equates to 70e store credit. No grasp on customer care and encouraging repeat business at all, avoid at all costs.

My Trek FX 7.5 was rattling and skipping. I was going to trade it in, but the guys turned it around in a day and it was like a new bike. Best servicing option in Dublin in my opinion. Plus, the staff are very friendly and know what they're talking about. They obviously have a passion for bikes and customer experience. Thanks.

These guys are amazing. They helped me choose a bike which was ideal for my needs, ordered it in and fixed it up for me. They have an on-site repair shop where they also do six-monthly servicing. They're well used to doing Bike to Work Schemes as well. Incredibly professional and friendly team. There's literally nothing about bikes or bike accessories that they're not expert in. Perhaps not the cheapest, but when it comes to bikes- and the correspondingly essential choices around safety, quality and long term reliability- you really get what you pay for. Use them.

I went to the store to get information about changing the brake and gears cables of my Giant bike.
At the cash desk the manager made me the price of 35-40 euro for that but when I left the bike the day after the price has been changed from 35-40 to 52 euro. I went to the desk and I spoke with the manager who told me not to worry because when I went to get the bike I would have a discount.
I took the bike and I have no discount I also told the person that I had talked to a manager and he told me he did not know anything, I also told the person who told me that he would do me the company I had paid 52 EUR. But he said he could not do anything.
In addition to paying 17 extra for the change of cables I have also ruined the paint and the lettering of the bicycle just painted.
negative experience, I will never come back.
Rude and unprofessional.
I forgot to tell you that I bought a 1100-euro bike from them 2 years ago

I went to take my bike and get my brakes bleed (but working brake), true my rear wheel and sort some worn bushings for my rear suspension as well as it felt a bit loose (although I didn't know it had to do with the bushings). The kid that took my bike said that overall was going to be about 20 euros the whole thing. So that was fine. What was not fine was that they didn't tell me the bike wasn't going to be ready by the time I needed to pick it up. They called me almost 2 hours later (by the time they called I was on my way) than the pickup time. When I arrived the kid claimed to have been calling me a while and couldn't get a hold on me. Anyways, when I arrived 2 hours and a half later than the appointed time my bike was pulled apart and this kid proceeded to tell me that I need to get new calipers, new bushings and that I needed a new a rear tyre (the tyre had only a few scratches on the side). Couldn't that be determined earlier when I drop the bike or called me explaining me the situation in advance? As I wasn't happy to this approach of trying to get money off me I said, ok, give me the bike as I brought it and charge me for whatever repair you did. I got my bike back and the front brake wasn't working. I told them then, my front brake was working before, can you at least give me the bike as I brought it in? Then another guy came in, took care of my bike and return it to me with the brake practically fixed as I was hoping from the beginning. The only plus I would give to them is that they didn t charge me after the hassle. All in all, I think the approach they took to take care of a customer I don t think it was the appropriate. If they would have proceeded in an honest and upfront manner I wouldn t have been annoyed in spite of the situation. The shop looks great though!

My boyfriend brought his bike in here after previously having had it 'serviced' at another shop, but there were still a lot of problems with it. He called ahead to make sure they could take in the bike, which they could immediately. He got a phone call the next day to discuss all the repairs needed and pricing options on getting the bike road-ready or to get the bike running like new. Prices were more than fair, and the bike was ready less than 48 hours after he'd brought it in. There was no attempt at upselling, the work carried out seemed to be of high standard, and he was advised on some things to keep an eye on but reassured it wasn't necessary to have done right now, just to be aware of. Overall very pleasant, quick, friendly and professional. He also gave him a contact for a friend who runs another bike shop where I could find a decently priced second hand bike - where I did purchase one a week later. Would recommend!

Bought my road bike here a few years back and have always enjoyed stellar service on a fantastic purchase. Today was another example when Graham had me back on the road in no time after me playing around at home bending screwdrivers. Great lads and a real pleasure to deal with.

Great service. Ben and the team saved my buckled wheel. When speaking to other shops in the area, they only wanted to replace the wheel (Sometimes with very expensive replacements). PFC saved on the waste and cost. The only place I will go to for bike repairs in the future. Thanks lads.

Bought a brand new bike and when I got home I noticed the mudguard was cracked. Went back in and they changed it for a new mudguard, no questions asked. However, when I got back home I noticed another problem. The brackets they used for the new guard was scratched and the black paint came off (it s a matt black bike). So I had to go back again and then the guy told me that there s nothing can be done, that the bracket for the guard needs to be bent and so you loose some paint. I was never told this and am thoroughly let down because I spent a lot of money on a brand new bike and it s not perfect. I won t be buying from them again
