Nomads Esplanade

That Backpacker is not bad spot to stay. It is cheap with very simply complimentary breakfast at the heart of esplanade. Rooms were not bad just some of the room doors were hardly to close. Bathrooms nice and clean. Staff is nice depend who is serving you.

Arrived after hours and could not get hold of anyone till 1 hour later, although there was supposed to be someone available on a provided mobile number on door and we told reception beforehand too. Finally got our room at 1am in the morning and it's really just what you pay for. Everything in the backpackers is in desperate need of some TLC.

I stayed at the Flying Monkey Backpackers for few nights when I came to Cairns. I really liked the cozy atmosphere of the hostel; the staff was great and really helpful about everything; they always asked the guests if they wanted to join their weekly activities which was really nice, way to get to know new people. Very clean hostel. Free breakfast was a really nice surprise. Flying Monkey Backpackers is on a perfect location,the Esplanade, close to everything, just step outside from the hostel and you're able to anything you want:) I highly recommend this hostel for all the backpackers!

Tne bedroom is a little small. But the location is very good. Near the wharf and city centre.

As far as hostels go, good value for your money. The location was perfect for getting around Cairns, and the rooms were fairly clean. Helpful and friendly staff and manager.

Complete lack of management/utterly clueless staff. Our room was still occupied when we arrived despite it being mid afternoon and after check out time - the member of staff on the desk told me this was normal because "the rules are pretty relaxed here". Because of this, we were told to leave our luggage in a 'locked' room until our room was vacated. We left for about an hour and a half, and came back to find a different member of staff on the desk who had no idea where the 'locked' baggage room was, and told us to go check if our room was empty yet! After finding where our bags were, the door was left ajar and unlocked for all to gain access. We peered into our room and found that the previous guests had eventually moved on. However, the bed sheets smelled of sweat and musk, like they hadn't been washed, merely folded up to look new. The room had a working air con which was good but came at the cost of being extremely loud, making it unusable during sleeping hours. The only good thing about this hostel is the location and the price. Personally, I wouldn't stay here again.

Good place, value for money and close to everywhere

I couldn't believe how good the location was. It's right at the lagoon! The free breakfast was awesome. The kitchen could have been cleaner, but it was very busy. I recommend it to everyone!

Although the staff were extremely great and the location was ideal, I never want to stay in a place like that again. The dorm rooms were awful. There were broken kitchen appliances covered in duct tape. Stains were all over the place, the window was missing, the AC didn't work, and the beds felt like they would break at any second. Not to mention, the floor and beds were COVERED in bugs. I had to spray everything I owned with bug spray, and even then, they still crawled all over me. Wasn't happier than I was when I checked out. If you need a cheap place to stay, it's this one, but you're getting the value of what you paid for.

Nomads is in a great location, right in the heart of the Esplanade. Great times and good people!

A very arrange hostel that have everything a hostel should have. They need to clean there sheets better thou. Very good location. :)

The place is very dirty and disgusting. The staff are rude, when we wanna to check-in, he already said there is no room, even thought we booked a room. And then we find another hostel, but few days after i find out they deduct our money. I have never ever find a place worst than this one. This is absolutely a tourist trap, if you are thinking living here, plz think twice before you live here.
