The level of incompetence from this company is astonishing. We hired them to replace our liner back in 2017. They had ordered the new liner, but made wrong cutout during the install, so it was leaking. After several failed repair attempts and back and forth fighting they finally agreed to replace the liner. By the time new custom liner came in, the summer was over, so we missed out on most of the 2017 pool season.

In 2018 with the new liner we were still losing water, but it was at a rate of 2-3 inches per day, and so the pool was still usable, and we thought it was just splashing and evaporation. During 2018 I hired them to install a new pump, salt generator and heater. Shortly after the install (about 3-4 weeks) the pump shorted out and heater stopped igniting. At that point I hired someone else to take a look and repair it, and it turned out they hooked up the pump with a piece of an old wire that wasn't even properly isolated, and that the heated had accumulated heavy carbon build up and needed clean up and new ignition system. The heater was installed inside a shed, and such install requires an exhaust, which Mill Bergen failed to inform me about.

At that point I decided to let Mill Bergen finish the service contract for the remainder of 2018, but hired the new guy for 2019. Mill Bergen closed my pool in the fall, and back in may the new guy came to open it. When he opened it, he found that;

a) They did not even bother cleaning the filter for the winter after they closed the pool. This is very detrimental and shortens its life span.

b) When they installed the new liner, they did not even clean the bottom of the pool and did not install an underpad. The whole bottom of the liner had a bunch of holes in it and the pool was empty (it was half full when they closed it).

I did not even bother calling Mill Bergen at that point, I just had the new contractor order and properly install the new liner. No more leaks, everything is working properly now.

If you value a set date, a set time or a companies promise, stay FAR AWAY from this company. They put me on schedule for Wednesday, didn't show up, when called they said they don't have a record of the set appointment. Then offered Thursday morning. When called at 12PM Thursday, they said they are held up at a different job and are 100% going to be there during the afternoon. When called at 5PM, person who answered the phone said someone showed up at 11:30AM and there was a foot of water on top of the pool cover (complete fabrication, I have an automatic pump that takes the water out) therefore could not do it and left. Then tried to reschedule me again. At that point I gave up on this company.

Called first for information about opening a pool was given some basic information and told to come in to the store. I went in the next day was given a form to fill out and told someone would call back well that was 4 days ago to date. They are nasty, arrogant and act like your doing them a favor. Refused to answer questions told me someone will call. Unfortunately there are not many pool service places around and they know it however doesnt give them the right to treat a potential customer in a nasty fashion. I am happy to report found someone else to do the job for half the price.

I ve been doing business with Mill Bergen for over 20 years and always found them to be honest, reliable and helpful with any information needed to run a pool properly.
The family members are friendly and personable.
It always bothers me when some people who clearly can not be pleased with anything trash businesses or people on a public site.
If you are looking for a quality pool store in Brooklyn. Mill Bergen is it.

Tom, Bob and their team of professionals have been opening and closing my pool for over 20 years. I couldn't have been happier with their service. All their workers are very well trained and a pleasure to work with. This review has a bittersweet ending as I sold my house and moved out of Brooklyn, however, I will forever have memories of my pool and the great relationship I've had with Mill Bergen Pools. Incidentally, Bob sold me the pool and his team installed it and had it up and working on July 4th weekend 1997. I wish everyone at Mill Bergen well and if you're ever in the Bluffton SC area, look me up.

Mill Bergen was recommended to me by a friend who got a pool built last year. Said the experience was great and they did what they said they would. So I gave them a call, had them come out to my home and check things out, explained what I wanted and sure enough they made it happen. Now I have a fantastic new swimming pool that everyone wants to see. Kids love it, wife loves it, so I love it. Give these guys a call, they're great.

I recommend Mill Bergen Pools to anyone that has a pool or is thinking about getting one. Everyone in the store is knowledgeable, helpful and extremely courteous. All of the staff, especially Tommy, has helped me deal with the inevitable problems you have with a pool. Definitely the place to go for anything having to do with pools!

Living in South Brooklyn I was happy to hear that there was a pool store in Brooklyn after the Pool Factory closed. Traveled on a Sunday morning, spoke with Tom who seemed very knowledgeable and caring at the time we spoke. Told me the job I needed done was minor and could be done the following week. He then refers me to Alexa to take my information. Three weeks later, two calls with voicemails not returned and numerous emails continually asking me to send more pictures and still no one has shown up or called. Seems that they are that busy or don t really care about customer service. I also spent over $100 the day of my visit. Now reading all the the reviews I see it s the same old story. I did the job myself and will continue to buy my pool supplies online, not giving my money to the mom and pop small business like I was hoping too. This is the reason small companies can t retain clients, a simple call back from Tom after leaving two voicemails with a little concern would ve went a long way. Not even an email return from Alexa. Unfortunately, my business going forward will keep the online employees in business!

Ill start by saying the only reason for 1 star is the person who "worked" on my pool is a nice guy otherwise id give 0 stars...
I went through 2 pool companys to open and close my pool yearly. Both not only connect everything, treat the pool, but, also cleaned it. By the way, just found out today that Mill Bergens Idea of opening (for $231.00) is removing cover, connecting filter throwing in chemicals, NO CLEANING, Ill get to this later.
One of the previous companys stopped servicing Brooklyn, unfortunately. The other, after my openning 2018 left with a leak in the connections which I did not notice cause it was under my deck, and when I called they said they will send someone in 2-3 weeks to fix it cause they are busy (pool opnening season, duh, it is your business)
I call Mill Bergen at the end of the 2018 season to close my pool.
I figure I knew them from when I grew up in Canarsie, a known name and from what I remembered good work, closing went...well, fine, now lets go to the 2019 openning.
April 2019:
Scheduled pool opening date was set ( can be changed due to weather, fine) called back to get a price on a specific product for my pool, they sent me a quote with labor.
I explained to Alexa i can get the same product ( the actual color I wanted AND with an extra component) for $90.00 less expensive. I was told(with an attitude) its less than what they Mill Bergen can get it for, so, fine.
Being they were going to be opening my pool I figure ill still pay the labor to put the product together (even a RIDICULOUS price of $250.00) just so I dont have to be bothered doing it. Her answer was well we only do the labor for the products we sell to someone. Ok cancel the labor, keep the scheduled pool opening. May came I forgot the date I had so I called to ask, wow, they didnt even have me scheduled, no worries they gave me a date a few days after what I thought my original date was anyway.
Opening day Wednesday May 15th 2019:
The guy comes to open my pool. Water is missing to below my return and skimmer line cause the plug they put in the return fell out and is laying on the bottom of my pool. Along with the plug is all the DIRT and LEAVES from the cover when he removed it. He said he can hook up filter, but, cannot run it cause not enough water in the pool. He left me with 2 pounds of shock and assured me after I fill the pool , run filter, dispense shock , vaccuum, all will be fine. I did what he said, filled, ran filter, shocked, connected vaccum ran over night (this is also what has always been done by the previous companies and everything was perfect next day)
Thursday May 16th 2019:
Leaves and dirt still in pool, water still a lil cloudy. I call, as the guy said, and I told Alexa exactly what happened. I explained the reason he couldnt properly fun filter cause water was to low, she started to point blame at me for low water, that I had to stop her and say its cause the plug they installed in my return, ehen closing didnt stay, I explained about rhe dirt and leaves they didnt clean it, day later its all still there, etc.. her answer to me was, now get this...remember first thing, $225.00 plus a $6.00 gas charge is $231.00 and her answer is... our pool opening is just remove cover, make sure filter/pool is operational, and put in chemicals....NO CLEANING, not even the stuff that their " employee" dropped in the pool when removing the cover, not even the plug that didnt hold they installed and, to top it off, how can they say filter is working properly if the employee couldnt let it run when he left (again due to the fact the plug they installed didnt stay in place and my water drained)?
So for $231.00 plus tax ya have someone remove a cover, hook up two hoses and a return, drop 2 lbs (well leave me with) 2 lbs of shock and when you call you have to deal with an attitude of someone who thinks their company is the company all other pool companies strive to be like, as if their s**t dont stink and they are better than their customers.
Do yourself a favor stay away from them, definitely NOT worth the price or attitude.

These guys are true professionals. We were looking for what type of spa would be best for our backyard, and that is when they suggested the Swim Spa.

I hadn't heard of a Swim Spa, but this was exactly what we were looking for. It's basically like a lap pool, but 5% of the size. It's awesome, and we wanted to thank you.

1 because I can't give 0 stars. I don't understand how they stay in business, but it must be because they are the only game in town. They have a terrible understanding of how to run a business and such blatant disregard for customers' time. I have been left stranded countless times awaiting a scheduled and confirmed service only to have to call them wondering where they are after waiting HOURS to find out "oh we got backed up" or "we are low on trucks." It is unacceptable for an "established business" to have such poor scheduling abilities.
