I was stationed with 1/1 and my battalion did the rock tour. Even in May the gp tents were still cold at night. My co. went up into the mountains for a week.We came back down to base camp and I had a grand mal seizure. Before that, I was planning on re- enlisting, but I was deemed unfit to serve. I e...
For every marine who will go there, good luck. You will hate life.
Rock Package in 86' with Bravo 1/8, Cold Weather package in 92' with H&S 3/2. That place builds character after breaking you down. One positive is I learned how to ski
Stationed there in 79 as an engineer we remodeled a old barn for admin offices never did clean out all the horseshit covered it up with concrete I hope it still smells good
I used to be a ski instructor and mountain rescue teacher here when I was a Marine officer in the 1950s. Amazing place.
1995 for 1\8 0341 Mountain Training. You learn to appreciate lower altitudes stepping off a plane.
Hated that climb but was so worth it the views the training the friendships made awesome!! Semper fidelis oohrahh
Apparently, marines and their spouses with a permanent change of duty stationed here get free tuition to UNLV based on UNLV's Nevada residency rules
Rock package, Jun, '84, F 2/4. From Camp Lejeune, el. +10?, to Pickel Meadows in mere hours. Put an end to that smoking BS! On our day "off" we hiked back up to Levitts Lodge to camp out. Used the courage developed here to forge my way into ironworking. Heights are a real problem for those who have...
Did a black boot and winter training here. Survival school was great . 2/9 STA.
Was there in 96 weigh the 3/4. Awesome scenery & training was fantastic. Climbing up 200ft of smooth face Mountain in full gear & then getting to repel down was some of the most fun i had while was in. Freezing cold, but beautiful views
Th area on up th road is Stunning especially th River running next to th road. Most beautiful waterfalls.
Did 2 cycles with A.1/6.
Hellish training, Lousy accommodations... Good beer, Good memories... Amazing scenery, cold nights.
Amazing place for military to hike all year round. Love the views. If the Exchange has the items, they have a wide range of outdoor gear. Recommend they sell ski equipment and it would be the best place to shop. Selections go very quickly.
Some guy named Wagner keeps writing on every bathroom stall.
Challenging experience made great training. Kilo 3/24 July 08.
Visited the MWTC center for Animal packers / mule teams course as part of a workup for UDP to Okinawa with 3/3 Kilo several years ago in 2012.
The course was great and I consider it a three week vacation / camping trip, while everyone else in my unit got to freeze in the snow with the regular tra...
SERE school in 1964. Assigned as instructor in 1968 . Best duty I had in my career . Loved this place !!!!
Went in Jan 85 with 2nd LAAD for Cold weather package. I thought I was tough before getting there, but this place really built both my mental and physical character. This was also one of the most beautiful places I had ever visited in the Marines.

I was stationed there off/on 1978/79. We maintained a HF radio link with a TSC15 comm van back to Pendleton. Was used a few times when bad weather took down our phone line. All we had was quonset huts and dirt roads except for the main roads. I was there when Lt. Col Guy took command. Looks like th...
Stationed there 85-88. S/Sgt. T. Smith MCMWTC Instructor. 86 established Animal Pack Program. Great duty station. Great training, harsh winters, beautiful summers, God's country!
Was just there on happenstance as a civilian passing by. The plaque is helpful for history of the place. The facility looks well funded and in VERY good condition; seems to be expanding. The U.S Forest Service has a public trail road through campus, you just have to check in and not take the road ...
Was there a few times for both the summer and winter training packages! With 2/4 and 1/2! Great scenery and training and the fishing during the late summer was outstanding! Most beautiful place I've ever witnessed!
