It's a quirky take on cocktails based on spices from around the globe--great concept considering when you see the word "cilantro" and you expect an incoherent drink. However, you'd be pleasantly surprised by the complexity of the drink--this is true to almost all of their creations. Go with an open mind because if you go in with a vodka-screwdriver mentality, you'll be out of your comfort zone. A great place with a genuine concept, accompanied by an amazing staff. Must visit! But PLEASE fix the air-conditioning unit!

Decided to check out this place after a friend recommended it. The drinks taste great, it s a really cool spot, although the music was a bit too loud, so talking/hearing was difficult. Decided to give it a shot at the Ants drink... yeah, real ones of top of it I know it s NY but not sure it justifies paying $15-$16 each drink.

Super inventive cocktails. If you re looking for an out of the box drinks menu definitely check it out. They have all sorts of interesting ingredients - herbs, tonics, teas all infused with spirits.
French bartenders are very knowledgeable and friendly. There s also yummy truffled popcorn!

Incredible new cocktail bar in E Village. Drinks are extremely well crafted, with layers of complexity and always a little something to make you say "hmm, what WAS that?". The menu design is great, stirring up questions and syncing the whole process. Especially loved the "Dill" and "Celery Seed" offerings.

It's often too easy to write off yet another cocktail bar -- but not this one. Tucked away in a quieter part of the East Village, this place brims with the hip and in-the-know. Drinks are unique and full of ingredients you may not know, but soon will. The impressive and attentive bar staff serve them with ease, and the drinks are as delicious as they are expertly crafted and beautiful.

Very impressed with everything about Mace! I loved the ambience, low key with nice music in the background. But the drink menu is wonderful. Every drink is based on a different spice (ginger, lavender, black sesame seed, white pepper, etc.). It's unlike any other cocktail bar we've been to. A must stop when you're in New York!

A comfort zone to hangout alone or with friends on a weekend afternoon when the place is bathed in sun not people. The bar tender is friendly and easy to get information on the cocktail. There are many indoor plants which I like. The cocktail menu change regularly and plant is the unchanged theme.

I love well-crafted, high quality, and fancy cocktails. We spoke with a couple of bartenders at a fun event which bar was their favorite one in NYC. They had a few favorites, but the number one choice was Mace. I had my eye on Mace for a while, but haven t had the chance to visit them now that we know it was an awesome spot to get some amazing cocktails, we had to go!

The inside was quite small, but to my surprise, they used to be even smaller They have recently moved to this new location, with a bit more space. With its popularity, their space gets filled up quick!

We got a couple of small bites to go with our drinks; Potato Crips and Spiced Nuts. They were quite tasty, went great with their cocktails.

I loved their drink menu, with spices stealing all the spotlight. Everything else plays the supporting role to the main spice here. We tried Thai Chili, Ghost Chili, and Ginger. All high quality, well crafted, balanced, really wonderful drinks! No wonder this spot is on the top of other bartender's list...

Their drinks are a bit pricy, but you get amazing cocktails of the highest quality. I would love to try all of their drinks! So interesting and creative, tasty and innovative.

Love this place. As the name suggests, cocktails are based upon different spices. Some of the bartenders are really cool, others not so much. Unfortunately, this place is becoming a little too popular for my tastes; if you don't want to wait in a 30 minute line to get in, you might consider other, lesser known cocktail bars in the area.

Been here a few times. Really nice atmosphere. Waiters know their stuff and are very friendly. Drinks are UNIQUE! But don't get me wrong, in this case that's a good thing. Nothing tastes bad, although the ingredients are quite different. I've tried the entire menu and can't say anything wasn't a delight. One note though, if you are looking to reach the next level here, U will have to do ALOT of tasting. Looking for something to drink out of the ordinary. This is the place!!!

This is one of my favorite cocktail bars in the city. Incredibly innovative, delicious concoctions that change every few months, in a low-key, relatively quiet space. Its being dimly lit, with candles, adds to the mystique, and I can't help but think that I've ventured into some fancy forest healer's hut, where the cure is esoteric booze, and lots of it.

Showed up on the day that they changed to a Miracle Christmas bar. I'm not a Xmas fan but this place was fun. Especially with the Santa heads in jars. Service was quick and cheerful, drinks were tasty and stiff I'm so glad to have experienced this establishment.

I've frequented Rye off and on for years(many years) and over this time period, I can honestly say I now have a new found appreciation of this lounge spot in the Tenderloin. The layout and decor looks mostly the same. How can you miss the smokers cage facing Geary St?

Oh man, talk about an East Village cocktail bar. They serve some high-end cocktails and have a very chill vibe and scene. Professional bartenders that know how mix and know how to work with customers. Dark lighting, boutique liquors, cool music, and on point service.

This is the place for you if you want to drink like a connoisseur. But you need to handle yourself appropriately - meaning, you need to handle your booze.

Grass ("Silver Needle Tip White Tea-Infused Mizu Shochu, Grass Cordial") and Paprika ("Blanco Tequila, Smoked Paprika & Pea Shrub, Balsamic Vinegar, Verjus, Champagne") were extremely good cocktails! I spilled my Grass after having half of it, but my waiter brought me another one. Very friendly and gracious and quiet staff. Loved this place.

Mace has possibly the most interesting cocktails in NYC. You won't find a Moscow Mule or Appletini on the menu, although I'm sure they would make you an incredible one if you asked. All of their cocktails are handcrafted and unique; their recipes blend spices, herbs, temperatures, and textures to give you a drink that you will not forget.

This is one of favourite cocktail bars in NYC! It's a modern chic venue, it's not too noisy (you can actually converse without losing your voice!), and the cocktail menu is top notch. My recent favourite was the bubble tea cocktail- so innovative and well balanced.
