The Government Polytechnic, Pune, was established in the year 1957. Thirty seven years later, in May 1994, the institute was awarded academic autonomy. Today it houses in its 28 acre campus, a main building, students hostels, classrooms for various faculties including Electronic Computers, Library, Canteen, post office and other facilities and has the capacity to groom more than 300 students in various engineering fields every year.

Over the last four decades, the institute has produced more than 8000 diploma engineers in different disciplines, has won several awards in academics as well as socio-cultural activities and on the whole has succeeded in contributing humble positive efforts towards the building of a progressive society.

Placements : Last year, Blue Star offered 4 lakhs per annum package for 2 students. In recent years, Tata Technologies company visited the campus and selected 3 students with Rs. 20,000 per month. Software companies are there for computer & IT students. Around 2.5 lacs per annum package was offered to diploma basis. ACC Limited Tyane offered 2.1 lacs per annum package for the students. United conveyor, Thermax and companies from Pune basis visited and offered jobs for the students.
Infrastructure : The college is spread across 27-acres green campus. The main building with stone masonry has a cold temperature. It has a new building with elegance air-ventilated roof coverings. The main building is g+1 floor & new is g+2 floors. The atmosphere is really studious. There are facilities like exam cell, workshops, and parking area. The campus is surrounded by greenery. It has a well-planned canteen. There is a big ground in this institute. There is as an indoor hall for indoor games. There is a special auditorium hall.
Faculty : Government Polytechnic Pune is an autonomous institute of Maharashtra and has its which course and exam schedule. Yamaha & Mechatronic Diploma by Mercedes-Benz is here. All branches including meta and DDGm- dress designing is there. The institute follows 180q & 180s credit system. Practical and lectures basis teaching is there. There are about 2 to 3 practicals on a day for 2 hours.
Other : The Institute organised Technofest 2k18. Students from all other diploma & degree college participated and won. Sports career in IDEESA is there for both indoor and outdoor games.

Old construction. As usual government lazy work. Not maintained. But due to government facilities student take admission.

Very old, very famous and very popular college in india. Very big campus as well as play Ground. Many students from pune and out of Pune wants to join this college. There are many department of various engineering faculties.for out side pune there is college hostel facility.

Government polytechnic Pune is one of finest institutes in India. I am very proud to state I d got opportunity to study during 1971-74 in GPP. In 2017 when I look back, I feel proud as GPP diploma holder.

This institute was created by Board of Technical Education, Maharashtra State, India. Government of Maharashtra State granted initial funding and started 3 years Diploma in Engineering courses. Initial years the Institute did not had its own building and class rooms. They used College of Engineering, Pune premises to conduct classes. Later in early 1960s they acquired current land and constructed current building.

The Institute also owns its own boat club next to College of Engineering, Pune. They have fleet of many boats for students to practice and participate in annual race called Regatta. Many past students have enjoyed this rare opportunity to go on boat rides in the junction of two rivers "Mula" and "Mutha".
