My journey at GCU has been wonderful experience because of the great staff beginning with my counselor Rhonda Madrid who has demonstrated to be so caring, attentive and follows up with me throughout this journey. I also want to thank GCU for providing excellent instructor, tutors who have been very supportive. I am excited for myself in completing my last class by the end of March of this year. I first want to thank God for leading my to this wonderful Christian university in which I am very happy to have attended and would definitely recommend it to anyone who is pursuing a higher education. Again, thank you Rhonda for being there for me.
I am in my first year at GCU, and I have only great things to report. Both the faculty and the staff are the friendliest, most helpful people ever. Everything has gone smoothly, and efficiently. I receive awesome feedback from my instructors and my advisor has always responded immediately, when I have any questions or concerns. I am proud to be a 'Lope' and I suggest this university to any and everyone who wishes to further their education.
This school passes you without hesitation. A person I know recieved her master's degree and cant even pass her CBEST written part of the test. Makes me wonder.....
I love GCU! Though I could go on about how wonderful my experience was, I would only like to highlight my outstanding counselors. Sean Mathis and Shadreika Summers were the absolute best. They were always prompt and super helpful and most importantly encouraging. So grateful for them!
GCU online degree programs admit anyone with a pulse. Valerie De La Torre is unfit to be an educator. Valerie De La Torre must be fired and banned from teaching.
When I decided to finally go back to school, I was not sure where I was going to go. My wife had already started college with GCU and was telling me how supportive the teachers and the administrators were to her and suggested I give GCU a call and see for myself. So I did just that. From the first call to my, now 6th class, they have been amazing. The instructors are awesome to work with, very knowledgeable and are there to help you succeed. My counselors have been awesome as well, they make sure I am understanding the material, they give me additional advice about options I can use and are very friendly. In fact my particular SC, Nick has myself, my wife, and my daughter, he has been there for all of us and we see him as part of our extended family. Deciding to go to GCU was probably one of the best decisions I have made in a very long time.
GCU is a great school! You must work hard and spend time studying, completing work, and learning material. It is not the school for those who are not disciplined or those who do not have good time management skills. It is a great place to earn or finish a degree. It is convenient for people with full-time jobs, because there is an online program.
I recently obtained my Master's Degree in Criminal Justice at GCU, and I had a great experience during my time: * Both my University and Student Service counselors were very helpful. They support my need as a student by providing information relevant to each course that I have taken. * All my professors are great. They know what a perfect balance of control means. They took the time to communicate with the class when there are questions and/or concerns; they have sense of humor; they make the topic enjoyable; and of course, confront us if we are not doing our best. * The tuition fee is a lot affordable in comparison to other Universities that I have checked. * It is a Christian school. * Most importantly, I graduated with a 4.0 GPA. * I highly recommend GCU to anyone that would like to pursue their education. I was promoted two times already within the Criminal Justice System while at school.
0 stars! This place is a dump. A money hungry FOR PROFIT college. They are not Christian. All they want is your money, and will lie in anyway to get it. I suggest you go somewhere else.
I am a dissertation away from a doctorate in Education. I have two Masters and the pending doctorate with Grand Canyon. Yes to all of you who have had troubles. The last class I still owe because they forgot to tell me I had maxed my student loans. I lost my job in 2012 and have fervently been applying EVERYWHERE, including with them..... NOTHING. Not even THEY will hire me even though I kept at least a 3.2 GPA. Makes you wonder how much they value their own teaching. If it is because I own them money, I even said they could take it out of my first paycheck......NOTHING!
This university wont stop calling me, no matter how many times I block the number they call me from they still manage to find a way to contact me. They say they have a "file" of me at their school because I've shown "interest" in going there when I've never even heard of the school until they started calling me over and over again. At first it was no big deal but I can't seem to get the calls to stop no matter how many times I speak with the people that call me and tell them I'm not interested.
Update: Even after sending an email to the provided address with the 4+ numbers that have called me, I just got a call in March that was in my "blocked numbers" voicemail.
Highly disappointed in the fact that they will not accept students in the BSN program who have had previous college schooling under their belt. Very odd. And will not be recommending the to military spouses seeking degrees online.
I highly recommend Grand Canyon University. The university legitimately cares about their students and is focused on helping everyone succeed. The classes have been fantastic, and they offer a multitude of degrees and online options too. By far the best college I have ever attended, and I have gone to state colleges and even UC Berkeley. GCU has a great reputation among employers too. I love my counselors Megan Neel and Adele and they are a major reason I was able to finish my degree. They are even helping me with transitioning to a master's program.
I recently completed a MSN in Nursing, and I am pleased with the program at GCU. What I like are the 8 week online classes, supportive instructors, challenging academics, and real sense of achievement. My guidance counselor, Darlene Hill, was there for me throughout the program. She encouraged me to stay the course and answered all my questions. GCU is a christian, faith based university and this provided me continual inspiration. Thank you & Happy New Year to everyone at GCU because you are making a difference!
Mya Carlisle is the best counselor ever...she is always available with a positive intake when you are done and out her favorite song might be "Jesus is on the Main Line". All in all she is an awesome person to have in your corner and to God be the glory she is very humble...There are many other great workers at this university but she is my favorite...
I was planning on finishing my Nursing Degree online. However that s not the case with GCU. This school is a joke! Stay FAR away! Will not recommend to anyone
Very disappointed with my experience with this University. A lack of professionalism and they seem to be scam artist. You speak to one representative and they will tell you one thing and when speaking to another representative, you will get a totally different explanation as to what's going on.
This is an amazing university to attend! They have online classes for people that are out of state and that has families. I will be honest that it is A LOT of HARD WORK! I attend GCU Online. My counselor Kevin Carter has checked up on me to see how I am doing every once in a while. Not many colleges or universities do that, even schools that you can only go on campus for rarely or never checks up on you.The instructor that I have now gives the class so much information for our assignments to help out the class.I've been attending GCU for almost a year and I absoutely love it!
I have been attending GCU since 2016, and I will say that It has been a great experience. My advisor Andre Anderson have been genuinely motivating me, and always helpful even when I need to speak with my professors. The professors have been patient and also considerate with my assignments. I am looking forward to graduating and making sure I remember all the motivation tips to keep me going with my classes. GCU has been thus far a great school and dont have any complaints. Thanks to everyone on my team at GCU for their great service they provide to their students.
I have attended both online and on ground, so I have received the full experience. I had AMAZING counselors online and on ground and they made the transition seamless. It was the best experience I could have asked for. I am prepared to be a teacher! I highly recommend for anyone who wants either an online or on ground experience!
BEWARE! If you are considering attending this university as an online student be very cautious. If you don t withdraw prior to the class beginning you are CHARGED full tuition, whether you paid anything or not. Crazy, right?! Most other universities give you a few weeks to withdraw, not this one. Be careful! And yes, I did end up paying the full tuition. Hopefully the instructor receives it that I met during that first week, she was great. The 1 star is for her. Very dishonest, and it s a Christian school no less. So sad.
Remember if you do the online program like I am currently doing or taking part in the traditional classroom, communication is important. My SSA, although we might not always see eye to eye, is a good one! She openly admits the things she is limited on but does try to help reduce frustration if all possible. I have to remember not all professors are the same and some lack communication where others are wonderful with it. My advice, reach out to your professors and take ALL classes seriously due to GCU is building your skills up for your core classes. GCU offers tons of online resources that will help you be a better student.
My experience with GCU was absolutely phenomenal! My advisor was so awesome when she noticed that I was falling short on class participation she would give me a call and motivate me and encourage me to continue my education. Everyone at GCU held you accountable for the goals that you set for yourself. Enrolling in online courses was intimidating at first but through the help of my advisors and the professors I became comfortable and accelerated in my courses. I completed my masters in public administration with an emphasis in government & policy. I was even able to fly to Phoenix, Arizona to attend the graduation ceremony. The ceremony was awesome, speakers were awesome. Very welcoming environment. I highly recommend anyone seeking to further their education to attend GCU.
Two time alumni here! This is the best school ever! The negative comments all seem to be the product of having a run in with a bad employee amongst an incredible organization. The school is shaping central Phoenix, bringing down crime, increasing home values, tutoring high school kids, mentoring elementary students, and much more. More schools should look to have such a great impact.
The ability to study through an online program makes getting an education possible. One aspect to keep in mine is the work load is quite heavy. You are covering the same content of material that would traditionally be covering in a 16 to 18 week semester in just 8 weeks. You really do not have the time to truly enjoy the journey because it is at a super fast pace. A second aspect to keep in mind is financial aid is a very slow process. Do not expect anything before week 6 or 7 in an 8 week online program. If you know you will have expenses such as books, prepare to have a plan B that is not dependent on financial aid.
I was getting ready to attend class but found out my admission counselor been lying to me. I filled out requests to have someone to talk to me and left a voicemail at the manager office for call back. Neither request or callback got responded to. I thought the admission counselor was a nice person until I discovered she been untruthful. Financial aid wouldn t return my phone calls as well. I guess I dodged a bullet

I contacted Grand Canyon today and asked for financial aid but was told that my student services counselor handles financial aid. I was put in touch with the lady and she told me things that the admission counselor didn t tell me. I needed a letter wrote for financial aid purposes. I wrote them before but this is the most difficult college with it. My sister and I don t have a great relationship so I asked her to write the letter. The admission counselor said that the lady she was talking to stated that it needed to be more specific. This happened twice! Then she kept changing her story from oh she just need to be specific along the lines like you did then she told me tell your sister to just change her first part and be specific in what she is saying . Then I was told let s wait on their feedback before writing another one The admission counselor been telling me I been doing this for 10 years and blah blah blah ! Bunch of lying she did! The admission counselor name is Laura! Then she wanted my sister to write it for the 3rd time! I just got off the phone with the girl name I believed to be Mercedes! Mercedes telling me that it just needs to be more specific which is what Laura was relaying to you! I said to myself wait a minute! You got my number and all contact information and supposed to be helping me but you both messaging each other back and forth while Laura didn t tell me I needed to speak with you! She didn t even mention your name! Both of y all some run around lying people!
Started at GCU in August of 2014, was told I would have 10 classes to complete for my MSA. Fast forward to now, I get a call this morning saying that I now have 2 extra classes to finish, and my graduation date has been pushed back from March to July. Ridiculous money grab, since I can not receive a degree unless I finish these new classes, I have no choice but to take them. If I could do it over again, I wouldn't enroll at GCU.
I have loved my experience at GCU in one of the doctoral programs. Have had absolutely no problem with anything from applying to enrolling to financial aid.
I can honestly say that my experience through Grand Canyon University Doctoral Journey was the most stressful but rewarding experience. My committee was made up of professors who didn t surgar coat the process, they kept me on track but ensured that I would learn from my journey through revisions and conferences. I am indeed blessed to complete this process under caring but uncompromising committee members. Thank you for your commitment to my success.
First let me say.. Ms Lillian is very nice. But she had me enrolled without transcripts or any confirmation from me. Second, I explained I was not ready yet she kept saying try another week. Third tried to reach out to instructor because I was struggling, she wouldn't return any calls. Now this is funny part. They say they call you to give you welcome info on the phone and that they don't send out paperwork. .smh.. so I don't even know how much course cost. They never said you can withdraw first week. It's ok to struggle as long as you got financial aid. Now no one wants to return calls.. So disappointed. .would not return here..
I love the instructors and the other students, and would probably be able to give GCU four star rating if I were a ground student. However, I am an online student and all I can say is that the online software is terrible. The system crashes regularly and you will often have to re-do assignments because the system crashed while you are submitting them. As I write this review, it is the final day of one of my classes and the system is down again. Look at their Facebook page and you will see many disgruntled online students who are angry because they cannot log in to submit their assignments. My instructor told us that he cannot accept assignments after midnight regardless of whether there are technical difficulties or not. I am fortunate and have completed my assignments and submitted them earlier, but I would be FREAKING OUT right now if I were still needing to submit my final assignments for this class.
It is not fair to expect someone to complete and turn in an assignment by a particular day, but not give them a way to do that. I have brought this issue up to GCU on multiple occasions only to be told to "work around it"! I'm sorry, if Facebook were down even 1/2 the amount of times per week that GCU is down, Mark Zuckerberg would be working at McDonalds!
Check and triple check! I had been talking with an advisor for several weeks after being told my state (TN) accepted the MSN program. Tried and tried to enroll but would never able to get past the Program of Study section in the enrollment process. My advisor got IT involved who cautioned that it was usually an issue of state agreement that causes this problem. Needless to say we went through all kinds of server checks etc etc etc. with said advisor on the phone. Finally I asked if she was CERTAIN the program was accepted in TN. After assuring me she had double checked, she offered to triple check just one more time . Well wouldn t you know it...Grand Canyon University ACTUALLY ISN T accepted in TN for MSN in nursing education ....funny how those third checks can do that . Be super cautious and diligent when looking for an online program. Some schools are truly not up to any good. Their withdrawal policy would have likely deterred me from choosing this school anyway as their policy is 75% refund after your first post (required in the first day of class) then if I m not mistaken (of course this is by THE advisor) you re down to 50% after a week in class, then no return. Unfortunate but thank God for watching out for me
I am grateful for GCU in the sense that I was able to achieve a personal academic goal in earning my masters. However, I was disappointed in the experience I had with most professors and university support staff. Professors and support personnel are largely disengaged with the students and appear to operate in "cruise control" issuing general responses to inquiries if any at all.
The "customer service" and overall response to student concerns could use serious attention from university leadership. If I had to do it all over again I would do a little more research and choose another university to pursue personal educational goals.
This was my first online program. I was nervous at first to start but my awesome counselor, Danae walked me through each step and made life, work and school meaningful.
The instructors at GCU use Biblical teachings to encourage daily and guide. I love this school and will definitely go back if I intend to pursue my PhD. I would recommend this institution to anyone.
Classes were great, learned my subject area and am able to apply to my current work. Inconsistencies with expectations per class even though there were set expectations by GCU. Once I finished my last class for my masters, that was it. I have no idea when I will receive my diploma. It's as if I am no longer important because I'm done with classes. I chose to not walk and unfortunately I have heard nothing else from GCU in regard to what happens after the last class. The academics were great. I was able to access and complete assignments as needed.
Do not attend this school if you are planning to study computer science or engineering. They will give you a deadline for your graduation and then change the course walk half way through. They tried to schedule me in a class that was EQUIVALENT to a class i already took and tried to charge me for it. That is not very Christian. The worst part is that the professors do not even know some of the material or projects assigned. Transfer students from community colleges have more knowledge than juniors and seniors who have started their education here. When you do ask for help, professors just tell you to read the book or watch youtube videos, that is DEFINITELY not Christian.
Cautionary Tale... Update from Previous.... So naturally, someone saw my previous detailed review and called to pretend to be concerned. I received one call and an email. I was suggested one of GCU's links, that proved to not be valuable and the other, I was not able to register. I have a masters from this school that does not mean much of anything. I urge you to do your research; and make sure that this school's program offers what you need to be able to progress. Even though I researched, I wish maybe I would have gotten a second opinion and compared other programs. Check everything several upon several times before accruing the debt... and just when you think you're sure this is the school for you... Have someone you trust look at it with you. If this only help a few people, to not make the same mistake of going here that I have.... then that is all that I could ask for.
I have been attending GCU for a little less than a year now, online. I love it! The classes have been challenging, and the instructors have been wonderful! The school has been very accommodating, which has been great for someone like me that works full-time and is a mommy, as well as a military spouse. I do think they are expensive, but I knew that prior to beginning. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because admin can be really difficult to get a hold of. By this, I mean your academic counselor, financial counselor, etc. I have been frustrated once or twice trying to get something done in that aspect, but it all worked out and everything has been good! I would definitely recommend this school, especially to another military spouse!
Warning do not fall for the "Sales Pitch" to go to class and they will work out the financing. Wife wanted to take a few classes so she called in and after some high pressure sales pitch she signed up only to find out 3 days later she had to pay 600.00++ right THEN or else. Lets just say HIG PRESSURE place. here
Great experience.. excellent professors. I learned a lot and am grateful that I chose GCU. The professors were great and understanding. GCU has helped me on my pathway to success.
I completed the online doctor of nursing practice degree in 2/2020 at GCU. There are so many negative comments that I can make about this school, but I will try to keep it short. I feel they are more focused on money and less on learning. From day one they stress how the doctoral student is a self-learner. Yes, we are but why are we paying you all? They do not have video or live instruction. They use and reuse old material that often does not flow with the provided syllabus. Some professors cannot answer your questions. They make you locate 15 or more research articles in one week, read them, and complete a literature review. They do not accept late assignments. I failed my first class ever in my entire collegiate enrollments, at GCU because I turned in a late assignment. They are not supportive of the working professional. Beware and read the reviews before you make your decision to enroll at Grand Canyon University.
Originally I came here to obtain my degree in Public Health, but changed my major. I must admit, though I have failed bio-statistics once, This University still encouraged me not to give up. I was in the loop, but GCU guided me through. Now, I am close to graduating and will continue to grow. If you are interested in becoming knowledgeable about things that go beyond your studies. This is the lace for you to be, as long, as you love to learn new things, and grow within your educational status.
This school wants to keep there students from registering to vote... they went as far as surrounding a kid just doing his job trying to get adults registered to vote and kicked him off campus... cant believe this school is trying to keep there students from having the right to vote.
I was very happy during my time with GCU. From the moment I started looking into attending their student counselor that was assigned to me was fantastic and beyond helpful. The classes were fun, very educational, and I feel I am prepared for my future. I received my master's degree with GCU and enjoyed my experience with this university. The teachers were helpful and quick to respond to any questions I had and the online pace of the classes was very good. I highly recommend this university!
An experience like never before. Being out of school for over 20+ years and coming back to the foreign world of online classes I was terrified! Office staff, professors and classmates helped ease all those fears and uncertain feelings. This has been he best most memorable experience (outside of marriage and births) I have ever experienced. I will tell everyone I know about GCU! God knew what I needed and HE sent me here!
My husband attended this institution because it was a Christian university. He put in sweat and tears until his last semester and they showed him that he was not as important to them as he thought! His sponsor/advisor wasn't supportive or encouraging at all. Needless to say, the money ran out and all of the time he put in is a waste. I will not recommend GCU to anyone!
Great christian university overall. The campus has exploded over the last 3-5 years thanks in part to their online programs. Now the Lopes have excellent sports teams and the facilities match their skills. Check out any event that is held at the recently improved GCU arena as the place itself is worth seeing!
This is a great university. Most of everyone are very friendly and helpful. The professors are great and enthusiastic with what they are doing. Great quality in general. I spent my undergraduate and graduate years over here and had no issues with them. The graduate program is very practical.
Masters and first time certification in special education program- Great overall program. Teachers were excellent and gave a lot of feedback. I was able to double up on classes and finished in one year with a 4.0gpa. I passed my praxis 2 on the first try. My admission counselor Kevin Chaney was INCREDIBLE! He really helped me with any question I had and if he didn t know the answer he would get it immediately (super helpful since I live in CT). He also stayed on top of my other counselors in the program to make sure I was on the right track with class enrollments and payments and student teaching. I d have to say without him I would have had a prolonged experience because the other counselors assigned to me only reached out when I called them or Kevin emailed them on my behalf. So if you want a great experience and a good education make sure that you start your journey at GCU with Kevin!
I must admit, I was very skeptical about taking classes online because I felt that I couldn't have a great rapport with my professors but I was wrong, the professors were very helpful with my journey and I'm very appreciative of the experience.
I am an online graduate student. Although I live in Pennsylvania, this university has be amazing. The staff are always helpful and I always have my questions answered in a timely fashion. The online professors are always willing to help and ensure that they are giving challenging work. During my student teaching experience, the professors and staff have been tremendous in helping me successfully complete my master's degree.
I find all the negative reviews shocking. I have completed a Masters with GCU and now currently working on a PhD and I've had nothing but a wonderful experience with them. I will admit that the high turn over of advisors is a little annoying but other than that, I have been very satisfied. I am doing the distance learning program and all of the professors assigned to me have been great. I had a horrible and sudden death in my family back in 2015 and GCU advisors as well as my professor gave me time off as requested with no questions asked and many kind words of condolences. I did not attend the graduation ceremony for my Masters but I plan on doing so for my PhD in 2018. Thanks GCU!
I am so glad that I chose Grand Canyon University's online program to persue my Bachelor's degree! My commute is less than 2 minutes from wherever I am in my apartment to my computer. I go to class when it is convenient to me! From my first discussion with my admissions counselor I have never felt "thrown to the wolves ". GCU constantly shows it's commitment to our success! There are tutors, tutorials and study guides. The diversity that comes with sharing classes with people from all over, is amazing and ads so much to my education. I wholeheartedly recommend GCU and wish I had done this sooner! LOPES UP!
I pursued both a BA and my MDiv at GCU, and I really enjoyed both experiences. I completed both degrees online, which was compatible with my work schedule. I was on active duty when I did my BA great Veteran s program!!! Also, I was volunteering in ministry during that time. During my MDiv I travelled as a missionary, so the online format, again, was compatible with my schedule. I enjoyed getting to know the professors and other students. Anyone thinking of continuing hit or her education should look into joining the GCU family.
Worst school I ever attended! Most of the computer systems were glitchy or didn't work at all. Half of the teaching staff didn't even know the criteria they were teaching. It was made very clear to me by the admin staff that because I was over 24yrs old, had a job, didn't live on campus, and was a veteran, I wasn't their ideal student. Went to 2 other colleges and had a perfect 4.0, graduated with an associate's degree with honors. Went to GCU and could barely get a 3.0.
They care more about your money. They were quick to auto enroll me next semester and when I told them I wasn't coming back within hours I received an email about returning my Title IV loan. Funny how that works...
If you are going to college excited to finally feel like an adult, GCU is not the place for you, their are non stop rules that rule your entire life. You are helpless to do anything to make your life better, I was in a situation where I almost never slept and was miserable, we found the solution to the problem was to let switch one roommate with another in our own suite. We did that for about 3 or 4 days and all my problems were fixed, RA comes in and saw someone switched rooms and gave us a day to move him back. That same night the RD came in and charged each person who moved 300 dollars. GCU does not care about you, rather they care about your wallet. We tried to go through our RA to fix the problems we were having in that dorm(which could have been solved with a very very easy fix), but he basically told us we are out of luck. While at GCU you will probably feel like you're in a prison, their are guards everywhere. If you go to GCU you will never feel like you have any privacy, any place that is not public, is off limits. They are terrible with getting information out to their students. If you went to college to get a taste of freedom, then GCU is not the place for you. The only thing good about this school are the teachers, other than that this place sucks. If you do decide to go to this school, avoid living on campus like the plague.
I was hesitant at first, but my Advisor Ashley Sears has helped me every step of the way towards obtaining my Masters Degree. Even through grief, medical issues and late night 12hr shifts at work she was a phone call away to say," Let's take a break and regroup and come back to your courses." I have had a great experience with their online instructors. If I had a issue or any questions I could always send a message and get a quick response. I am in my final 8 weeks Practicum and I am so exited. I am working with my Field Advisor Cody Maiocco who continues to provide guidance. I highly recommend GCU!
I obtained my Masters degree in Special Education all on line at G.C.U. It was a lot of work, but I learned SO Much while I attended and am still learning from the information I was provided. All of the people there that I had the pleasure to talk to were extremely helpful. There's no question about it; Grand Canyon University is a 5 star University, any way you look at it!

The GCU doctoral program was perfect for me. My experience has been great. GCU is a great school! They were the only school flexible enough as far as tuition payment for military families. I enjoyed every single class and learned a lot! The teachers were also very understanding, flexible, and accommodating to my special circumstances! I'm so glad I attended this college. I certainly recommend this school to anybody!
I completed my BSN at GCU after being out of school for 30 years! It was difficult for me, but with the patience and understanding of the instructors, I made it! I had a great student advisor that coached me into enrolling in the MSN program. I had second thoughts but so glad that I did! I GCU! Try it; I guarantee you will not regret it.
I loved this school, I attended 3 years and was kiked out I became homelessness with my 3 kids and did not pass a class i was not able to pay it back and got kiked out until I can pay it. I called everyone I could but they would not work with me.I wanted to be a teacher and work with kids who have learning disabilities I needed 120 credits but was able to make it to 92. I called everyone I could think of to help me but no one here cares. I was trying to show my kids anyone can be anything they wanted to with hard work, but GCU only cares about money.
I am coming up on the completion of my Masters degree at GCU and cannot say enough good things about the program. The administration staff, professors, and curriculum are all top notch. You must be self motivated to be successful in the online program but GCU gives you the rest of the tools to be successful!
Shaye Karl, I personally would never promote ANY graded or time-scheduled ONLINE COURSEWORK AT ANY SCHOOL, because so much can and has happened to course work submitted to online coursework. That's a shock and unfortunately, a ding to the subconscious, the student's self worth, forever. It never goes away. Even though the student did everything they were asked to do a d submitted everything they were supposed to, the way they were supposed to, their work has never been seen or recorded as received, so they could get the credit needed. It is demeaning and confusing. And you know, even though you submitted everything, no one is gonna listen to you. You are SOL and not gonna get your credit, and will also get for your trouble, an incomplete. So you don't get your class credit, and you also get an incomplete. Wow. That event alone will realign your faith in the school system. You don't want to even go on at that school, or probably ANY school. You're done. And you cant explain it to a tone cuz they couldnt understand, and they think you must have done something wrong. And you can't explain what you had been doing for 2, 3 years. And you got nothing to show for all that time.
I had something exactly like that happen to me, but at another school. I gave up my Masters over being kicked aside. I didnt need a Masters. Heck, I found out what a scam throwing away so much money was, exactly that, a scam. Unless you're going for something in the higher engineering or mathematics skill set, you should just start working at a young age in the field you want to learn. You'll be higher qualified than someone who just graduated some college so-called degree. Or at the most, do the vocational set.
I graduated from this college. Yeah, I said college. And I'm being nice. Love how they say they're Christian and non-profit. What a crock.
This school is a diploma mill. Nothing more.
I'll be spending the rest of my low existence trying to pay back 80k for a night school course that existed of busy-work and bunk highly overpaid teachers. The classes in the late 90's were $700 per class, and that was crazy high and lacking for any life learning capabilities.
I tried to call to talk to the current Dean of students, about what happened to me at this college but, don't cha know, he wouldn't even talk to me about it. I tried several times, as a trip over there on the West side would've been very hard on my work schedule and I might've lost my job I did have, for missing work. So, I have stayed resigned to not claiming a college degree, because of this disgraceful decreditation of my work. If I didnt have my honors certificate along with my so-called diploma, I would have no way to substanciate my story of graduating with a 4.6 GPA. The only people who know I graduated with honors were those 20 students who actually watched me get up to get my certificate for graduating with honors, at the honors program. I am a PK and am still utterly disgusted at the behavior of these key people at GCC. Still so disgusted.
So, Shay Carl, and that other guy (Johnson?)who wrote about somehow having to take "$900-basket-weaving-classes" to fill in more hours to pacify someone who didnt care about the few of us who fell through the cracks in college, I feel real bad for you guys. I KNOW how much and how long that hurts. It's twenty years later for me, and I absolutely DO still feel it myself. It's a shame that some of us do somehow slip through the cracks in school, but we have to go on. Go on without it. Yes, it hurts to have to continually explain how that could've happened but if you wanna go on with what you got, you gotta.
If you're smart and do talk around, you'll find out that deep, dark secret. . . . It's not worth a lifetime of financial misery to saddle yourself with a big student loan unless you're gonna need much higher math or science to get where you just gotta go.
I do not like Grand Canyon University and would never advise anyone to attend there. They are very rood and some of the online professors are just simply not right in the head when it comes to their teaching ways. But hey, what could I expect coming from a "liberal" arts institution...
The school was very good, I had a great time as a ground student. I was involved in many things from plays to pickup ultimate frisbee. There facilities are nice and always improving. I think the oldest dorm is maybe 2003 if I remember correctly. The only real downside that I had while I was there is the communication difficulties. They switched my advisor right before my very last class, and I almost missed paying the tuition because of it. That same advisor also said I hadn't paid graduation fees, when I clearly did. I had have the same advisor for 90% of my time there though, which was nice. I knew people who had like 5 different advisors while they were there.
Such an excellent school and an equally excellent university experience. I graduated in Oct' 18 with a dual masters - MBA/MSN. It was a challenging program but I felt very supported by my teachers and advisors. I would highly recommend this school and who knows I may choose to continue with my studies sometime in the future.
I just finished my MEd program with GCU, leading to initial certification. Overall, I had a very good experience at GCU. I took all of my classes online as I live in Georgia, and I truly enjoyed all but one class. I had a professor who decided that she was going to give a 0 for a group project that was submitted just a few hours late (due to late participant submissions and general confusion--group projects are EXTREMELY difficult in online classes!), but the grade was quickly changed when one of our group members filed a complaint. Other than that professor, I found all of my professors to be extremely knowledgeable and professional, including my on-site supervisor for my student teaching. I would recommend GCU to anyone looking to further their education while leading a life outside of school; the online classes fit very smoothly into my already busy life as a full-time employee, wife, and mother to two children. My only real complaint is with the advisors; I had at least three different advisors assigned to me in a very short time, and a couple were difficult to contact and/or receive a response from, but otherwise, I loved my time at GCU and am proud to call myself an alumni!
I ve been attending Gcu online for the past year ... and I don t regret my decision at all...... the administration is very friendly and the professors give you amazing feedback in each course.... I would recommend Gcu for online college.
GCU has been and will always be a the best thing to happen to my career and my personal self-growth. Let me start off by saying that no system is perfect and for those few to leave a bad comment here, my belief is that you didn't read all of the language before entering and signing into a program and you had an expectation that GCU couldn't meet. I would like to defend the "my" school by thanking all of the hard working people behind the scenes to make the masses of students working in the online portal possible. No system is full proof and there will be those that can't cut the mustard to make it to graduation. But, for those students like me that opportunity was given and I'm thankful.
"Always make the most of your dreams whether you complete them now or later in life".
GCU gave me the opportunity and the tools needed to re-establish belief in my education, myself and growth in my career. Because of GCU, I have a different walk about myself after completing my Bachelors degree in October 2018. The number of students that participated in walking across that stage was overwhelming exciting, which makes it's own statement of a working system. GCU is by far a wonderful program and it's made up of imperfect people (like we all are) that believe in you before you complete your own educational dreams!

Never ever work OR study in this university; I was a faculty for GCU and they reset their faculty like slave and students have no respect to the faculty. This university do not screen their students, any students have money to enter, they will accept; this is NOT Christian university; all the leaders are hypocrites; I will never hire students graduated from GCU; I will never send my kids or relative to GCU. This is BAD and EVIL university;
I am having a great experience at GCU. My counselors have done a wonderful job keeping me updated on future classes, and my student aid. I would definitely recommend GCU to any future student.
GCU is outstanding in building and molding leaders through critical thinking not only academically but personally. It is not just a saying but a way of life to find your purpose in everything. Counselor Lorianna is and has been outstanding, optimistic and energizing. She truly seeks to engage students to become the future leaders of tomorrow.
