Wow! Such a great museum! You could spend there all day (which I did) and still don't see and try everything available. It's a great place for kids and the my really enjoy trying everything (even small kids, ages 3-5). The restaurant has reasonable prices and the food is pretty good.
If you go there, plan a full day of you want to explore everything available... Otherwise you might not be able to do so. Admission could be a little lower,... But it's okay.

Pretty neat place for anyone with a day to spend in the city. Beware of zealous kids pushing their way into exhibits and messing with your process.

It is an impressive collection of experiments to see and understand physics principles of all kind (mechanics, optics, electromagnetism...) plan at least 3 hours if you want to see everything!
The exhibits are quite rich and can be operated by the manual.

The place is really interactive, and as during the day yo can feel a little guilty making a kid wait, there's a thursday night event for adults only that is really amazing.
The food in the restaurant is really god, and there's a nice view from it.

Everything there is awesome and also the food court probably a little expensive but still I had the best time there with my friend too bad I had to be with my teacher's down but anyway it was fun

Such a great place to bring your family & friends in. I bought the membership and it's all worth it. My kids loves it and even my husband. There's so much to do and so much fun and educational things to interact with. A must see and go to when you're in the city for vacation or just to explore more.
This place was awesome. I was there on pi day I tried to walk the whole thing and couldn't it has a lot of active for all ages I will go back to adventure more and I am 60 years old . Plenty of places to rest if you get tried....

It was fun very hands on but if you don't have kids I recommend going to the after dark times when there is no children.

Fun place to go. Things seem a bit repetitive after a while but all in all it's a pretty fun place with lots of things to check out. Definitely a good place to bring kids if you have them. The diner was not bad, food was pricy but that's to be expected when inside a museum.. Or in this case an exploratorium.
It's an awesome place to go I like the new location I went there when I was a kid in the sixties and early seventies everything looks so clean and well-kept and I always love the Hands On Learning experience

If you visited the Exploratorium's Marina location but haven't been back since their move to the Embarcadero, the experience is substantially different on Pier 15/17. For one, it's hard to beat the Bay. And the new facilities are bigger, brighter, and considerably more modern-feeling. The exhibits are great fun for kids and interesting for adults as well certainly if you enjoy science. Definitely a must-see for vacationing families.
Very cool place for children and adults alike. I loved the Thursday night "Exploratorium After Dark" for adults. It featured a few pop up full bars and all the awesome exhibits of the Exploratorium. It really was a highlight of my whole trip!
Haven't been since I was a kid in school & now they're in a new location. Had a great time checking every thing out. Just as cool as when we went on school field trips

Fantastic hands on place to learn about many science disciplines. Seems loosely organized by human perception (sound, optics, communication, environment). Guests are encouraged to interact with small-scale stations as individuals or partners to experience the scientific idea presented. Our group's age range was 2-70; everyone had a great time while learning!

A very interesting and interactive museum for all ages! A little pricey but still worth it. Try to spend at least half a day as there is much to do. Our kids loved the pendulum drawing board and got to bring home their finished drawing. We enjoyed lunch at the Sea Glass Restaurant within the museum. Again we found it a little expensive for the selection of food offered but it was a convenient location and had a nice seating area overlooking the water.
Fantastic. Simply fantastic. Extremely well put together with lots of live demos. Def need a good amount of time here. Beautiful views of the bay here as well.
Too many pe pole that didn't want to learn. My son loves to question, why, so when he can read all about something, it's great. However out trip here was a disappointment because people were pushing and shoving each other so they could "play"!
I really enjoyed the exploratorium experience. I came for a night event and got to check out some really cool science exhibits and a lot were actually interactive. There was alcohol available for purchase to consume while checking the place out as well! Super cool for kids and adults alike! The #BuckyBall outside is crazy cool at night!

Thursday nights are really fun (though often crowded). The special events are amazing but even wandering through the numerous exhibits over and over again is fun.
If you have a word that describes this place, I can say, SPECTACULAR. Imagine a place to take children and leave them at ease. This place is the Exploratorium, because in addition to being instructive, everyone has a lot of fun with the experiences that explain everything in a very didactic and playful way.
A fascinating museum. Highly recommended for children, teenagers and adults. Lots of cool stuff. You will spend a visit place of at least 3-4 hours to really exhaust it.

The most amazing interactive science museum. Super fun and educational place to visit. Great for both kids and adults. It's physics, engineering, and biology made fun, super interesting and highly interactive for all.
Such modern yet imaginative science muesem. You can see it driving, you can take pedi cabs here, field trips are common here, they display fun and intriguing exhitbits.

The museum was closed since it was Monday, but the gift shop is excellent. Science related games of all kinds!!

This place is huge! This center has a ton of things to see and do. Very practical/hands on things to see and do. I was not prepared to visit a science center of this size. The variety of experiments and stations is quite a wonder. Kids enjoyed. Definitely a great place to take kids who want to learn something. Side note: might get busy.

Great interactive museum with lots of well maintained exibits and hands on science experiences for all ages of kids and adults. Membership payment is tax deductible. Parking is available along The Embarcadero.

Very cool exhibits. Lots of fun, I would definitely at least recommend checking it out once. A little irritated that they severed alcohol but only to members that seemed a tad rude in my opinion.
I was worried that it would be too kid-focused, but it's actually a great museum for adults too. The place is also huge.
This Museum is great for kids because it involves a hands on learning experience. A lot of interactive kiosks, games, puzzles and activities to engage the young ones. It explores topics of science, physics, anatomy, geology and so on. A bit pricey as are the most of the museums here. I checked it out with a friend so entertaining for all age groups. For adults, they have Thursdays after dark with drinks.

I'm an After Dark member, and it's absolutely worth it! If you are 21+, and don't have kids, this is the way to experience the Exploratorium!
Go with friends, have a few drinks, and play with the exhibits along side other tipsy adults. It's my favorite "bar" in the city.
The Exploratorium is famous for its interactive exhibits, and deservedly so. Each one is a stand-alone experience, blending art with science in varying degrees. Some are designed to teach you about a specific phenomenon; some are meant to be thought-provoking or beautiful; some are simply meant to be silly and fun; and some are a combination. The Exploratorium strives most of all to show people how fun and rewarding it can be to truly engage with and learn about the world around you. No one is too young or old, too educated or too ignorant to be able to take something away from the experience of a visit. I would recommend no activity more highly in the Bay Area than a visit to the Exploratorium.
Some tips: visitors wanting to avoid crowds would do best to come in the afternoon on a weekday. Adults wanting something geared more towards them should absolutely check out the Thursday night programming, which is stellar. Parking is available but expensive, so I advise taking BART to Embarcadero and walking the 10 or 20 minutes from there (or taking the F streetcar, if you're feeling a little touristy). If you have the time, go through the Tactile Dome. You have to pay extra and make a reservation, but it's an experience quite unlike anything else (and that's all I'll say). There are two cafes, one at the front which is cheaper and has a smaller menu, and one at the back which is pricier but has more options and a spectacular Bay view.
Next time you're wondering what to do with your day off, come to the Exploratorium. You can come here once a week for a year and still have a new experience every time.
Best museum ever!!!! For kinetic learners there really isn't anything better! Been going there since I was six years old and still finding inspiration and new things to learn each time!

This is an awesome location! There are hundreds of attractions here. If you're interested in STEM (Science Technology Engineering and Math), this is the place for you. You can stay busy here all day with all the activities and experiments that they have on display.
