Exploratorium

I didn't get to go there. My friends told me that Thursday night was good day to go. I hope I can go visit in March. Always looked busy though. Very alluring place.

You need to visit, just come on their free days towards closing time!

It s been a long time since I ve been to the exploratorium since I was a good and it was located in a completely different space. But I took my little brother there and let me tell you he had a blast. Even if you struggle to get your kid to understand the science behind the fun, they will still have fun and I promise you that one day they will think back to what they saw when they learn about it in physics (speaking from experience) and go Ohhhh that s what was going on . A very educational and fun place. I will say that when we went it was very crowded and a bit overwhelming with children running around everywhere. Adults will find it interesting because it is actually informational whether the kids read the plaques or not, you can at least and learn something out of it. I m not a huge fan of crowds so I wouldn t recommend this on weekends.

I love the exploritorium. You know how sometimes things or people try to teach you sciencey things and it's totally boring? This is not like that all. You will probably learn things. But you'll definitely have fun. There's so many little stands to interact with. You can just run around trying them all with no plan and no supervision. Want to test your hearing level? Or pet plants that curl up when you touch em? Or see how rat bodies decay? Or wander through a cardboard land? It's basically a huge room full of tons of fun little things to try. If one thing doesn't interest you, just move on. But there are things to interest any age level. My favorite is the monochrome room. There's also food, bathrooms, and a store. And I highly recommend the tactile dome! That's actually the best part. But you hafta reserve that in advance and pay for it separately. You get to crawl and stumble and walk through a very mild obstacle course, in the pitch black!!! Great fun and you usually get to go twice through it. And it's a good price.

Basically a wet dream for homeschoolers and intellectuals.

Love this place. We were there for 3 hours and barely got through half. It has so much to do and see, all of it is hands-on. Will be going back soon.

Vast expansion compared to the old Exploratorium in the Palace of Fine Arts.

The evening event for adults is a great chance to see the hundreds or exhibits without little kids running about, but be sure to get there early to beat the crowds.

Great place for a second or third date since there's a lot of interaction and exploration.

Art is mixed into a lot of the science exhibits, which works better in some situations than others.

A lot of great permanent exhibits. Plan for a full day of fun to explore all of the interactive exhibits.

So interesting since I could experience science directly.

Loved this place!!! Was there 4 hours and could have stayed twice as long if I had gotten there earlier. Such an amazing place for the science enthusiast, the interactive exhibitions make many aspects of science very fun, interesting, easy to understand and just plain amazing! Very highly recommend!!

Good museum to take kids! Adults also have fun and learn!

I went for the first time a few weeks ago and was blown away by the exhibits. The space is huge and divided into different domains of exploration. We took my 3 year-old nephew who had a great time, but I was a little disappointed that the tactile area for younger kids was only available for an additional fee. From the website, there is no mention of needing to pay extra to enter this area. The exploratorium is better suited for kids 8 and up who can read and understand cause and effect. We knew there would be limited exhibits for toddlers, which is why it was such a disappointment that the general admission didn't include the tactile area.

Huge fan of the Exploratorium. It just reminds me of being a kid. I never seem to read the instructions, I just end up touching everything and trying to figure it out on my own. It's about trying new things and figuring it out.

They also do After Dark every first Thursday of the month. Drinks are served ($5 beers, $10 cocktails and like $7 for wine or something like that). It's so cool to be able to walk around with a fun crowd and just play. I can't say enough good things about this place. Absolutely LOVE IT!

Even if you don't pay to get into the Exploratorium you can go inside their store. They have lots of cool stuff!

This place is great and your tickets are free for your whole family if you have Cal fresh.

So much to do here. If you see more than 20% of the exhibits in a visit, you probably weren't looking closely enough. Besides exquisitely designed science exhibits (most of which are interactive), the place itself is an engineering marvel and looks amazing.

Lots of fun, even as an adult with no children. Was able to check out a wonderful exhibit, curious contraptions. Would love to come back for their after dark feature

Probably have to spend all day just to see everything in the place. Everything is interactive and a lot of fun. Best time is to go on a weekday in the morning. You get more time at each exhibit piece without having to wait much.

When I went... it was closed. But the views from the surrounding area was amazing!

The Exploratorium is worth every penny. I love it and every time I show someone around San Francisco we spend time here. It's a great experience for any human with curiosity!

We had a fantastic time here, as we don't have kids the best time to visit is on a Thursday evening when it's over 18s only. They reopen from 6pm until 10pm and you can have a great time plus it's only half price to go in then. They had a couple of areas selling beer when we visited and made it a very funny and good natured evening.

Very nice and educational for all ages .. High entry price and too bad that there is no discount at the end of the day.

This place is awesome, there is so much to do you can't see everything in one visit. All the exhibits are interesting and thought provoking.

The exploratorium there is BIG and you can learn many scientific and cool things there. At sunset, everything is beautiful

This is definitely far best science museum and exhibition I have ever seen! It is the state of combination of arts and science. Awesome!

Went for my kid's 7th birthday and was definitely worth the drive. Everyone had a great time-adults and kids alike.

This place is amazingly fun for all ages and does so much for the community from giving access to local low income youth to outstanding professional development for educators. The Friday night time event is a blast!

Fun place the first time you go but it gets boring. Don't buy the annual pass.

It is the museum to see, in practice, what we learn or read in puberty and adolescence. And you can interact with the exposed equipment. Worth it.

This place is perfect for grades 2-6 and curious K-1 students. If you're with a group there are guides to help, and the cafeteria (although pricey) has some healthy options.

Complete fun with science that is interactive and a blast. You could spend hours in here.

There were toooo many school children who were running around and cutting through to play with whatever you were using. The center in itself was fun but 3 hours in and I'm not done because of those kids!

Interactive exhibits at their best. Over a hundred of them!

It is worth going for children! It takes half a day but it is absolutely recommended! Depending on the day of the week, you can admire admirably.

It's like Disneyland, you need 3 days to see and experience the entire place.

This place is so much fun, there is literally SO much to do. All hands on too! It's geared for mostly kids 4 and up (maybe) but my 2yo had a blast! So don't count them out. The food and the gift shop are fair price on most things. The is also a large variety of gifts and toys too. My favorite is the fog bridge, but be careful! It gets SUPER dense and you literally cannot see in front of you. My only complaint is that I didn't get to stay long enough. Very cool place!

I went to the exploratorium for a company holiday party. It has neat little interactive exhibits, good for maybe an hour of distraction.

Awesome night out, can get lost exploring all the pieces and the may the 4th event was great. They have events often and I'm told they're all as much fun as the Star Wars themed one.

Didn't spend long there, but enjoyed what I saw. Excellent for kids.

It's HUGE. better for older kids, but I took my two year old and we had fun.

Get there early on weekends bc it can be crowded. Overall so much fun though.

A ton of great activities for preschool aged children to adults. There were way more activities than there was time. Something for every interest. Would highly recommend catching out at least 2-3 hours. Getting a season pass for locals makes a lot of sense.

I went through the City pass. Between MoMA and this, undoubtedly this one. There are several dynamics for all ages. Children and adolescents tend to enjoy more, but I as an adult enjoyed the proposed scientific issues.

incredible hands on experience for friends and families of all ages!! my 1yr old to my 10yr old loved it could not get them to leave after spending 5hrs in there! kids learn while having fun and fun for adults as well!

Great for people of all ages. The exhibits are fun for young kids but still have relevant information for adults to learn as well.

Worth every penny. Its huge and very interesting. From science of sound, light, bio, behaviour etc it has almost everything

An extremely fun place to learn new things and try out cool stuff. The tactile dome was absolutely incredible. The dome has no light and requires you to use your other senses to feel around and move around. It was a completely new and awesome experience that I believe a lot of others would enjoy too.

A blast. Lots to see and do. Hard to take it all in with just 1 visit.

I don't care what age you are you will have a blast here. Watch the time cause it will disappear and you'll realize there's still 5 more wings.

Great place for self directed learning and discovery. Sign up early if you want to do the pendulum doodle.

Fabulous to have an After Dark membership, so we can go Thursday nights when there are NO kids! Then we get to play!

When we purchased our tickets, I saw that disabled people had a reduced rate. I informed the employee that I am disabled. She looked at me and giggled. I am mentally disabled and told her so. She told me that doesn't count here.

What an amazing place! It would probably take 2+ days to see and interact with each exhibit. This place is hands on and educational in the best way. Our 7 year old had a great time and do did we! If we're ever back in San Francisco we will be spending more time at the Exploratorium!

The Exploratorium is a fun, interactive museum for children and adults alike! My family and I had a great time, just make sure to get there super early on community days; the line sometimes even snakes around the fog bridge on those days!

Great place to learn about science for the whole family. Good location on the edge of the bay.

Super fun activity to do with kids, also to do it by yourself. I've a great time there.

Lots of stuff to keep kids and adults enteryained. I was impressed with how well maintained all the exhibits were.

My girlfriend and I ran around like five-year-olds for hours and then had to take a nap.
