A boorish and ungracious interview experience @ BlogVault-
My name is Shunamrajit Sen. And, I gave an interview with this company for a role in Community Management. I was taken aback the manner in which the interview was conducted and also the post-interview experience !
The interview was an extremely boorish and ungracious one. One of the most impudent interviewers I have faced in my 7+ years of career. It was conducted by a lady called "Swaahili M", who happens to be the content and marketing associate in this organisation. Before the oral interview I was asked to fill quite a verbose form with things like my interests, my work experiences etc and subsequently prepare a couple of tasks given by this team including creating a video which I did quite diligently and submitted on time. Although initially I felt that this was like an MBA/college-level assignment but still I complied with it. I had also submitted my resume well before the interview. The team approved all my tasks, video and resume and scheduled my interview. To my amazement, the lady taking my interview neither had any idea of what I had written in my tasks nor had any idea on my resume-content. She lacked the basic interview etiquette and courtesy to conduct one.
She was extremely brazen-faced and started giving negative spins to every answer that I was giving to her questions. At one point, she almost escalated the situation to a point of a verbal-argument regarding my answers to her questions. All this time, I was complying to everything as I knew that this was a job interview going on. Also, when she started asking questions from my resume she was extremely contemptuous towards my previous companies- she said "You worked in SOME Infoware Solutions". I was awed by the high-handedness and impudence displayed by this lady while asking me questions from my previous experiences. The interview was pushed to the cusp of an embarrassing argument. Even, this lady started challenging each and every point in my resume and in the tasks. And, it ended on a very bitter note.
Also, she started making personal judgements while the interview was on for eg- "You know absolutely nothing about social media"! , "You know nothing on marketing" ! I was awestruck by the basic lack of interview etiquettes in this lady with the aforementioned name.
After the interview was over I reached out to the hiring team at BV and also to Mr. Akshat Chowdhury, the founder, on LinkedIn but they unheeded my agony and concerns and did not even had the ethics to contact me or send a soother over email. And, quite to my assumption leave alone qualifying the interview, I did not even get a response from the BV team after I had communicated to them my agony. For this, they had also rejected another Customer Success role that I had applied for.
I was really taken aback by the entire BV team, the manner in which they conducted the interview and the post-interview experience as well !
All I want to tell them is, to not treat interview candidates as trash. If they do it with a 7 year experience candidate like me, I wonder what they must be doing with freshers! Please stop treating interview candidates like trash! Before you give employment in your company please give respect to people!
This was during the Covid-19 situation, when the economy was opening up, companies started hiring and employees where looking for new jobs or a job change. In such a situation, I was really awestruck the manner in which the BV team was operating .
