Great Food. Don't be fooled by the smaller than average menu list. They don't give you an overwhelming amount of choices to make but rather ensure that all the items to choose from are delicious. Service was good but nothing special. The atmosphere was very relaxed. Good for dates and hanging out with friends.

This is definitely one of my favourite restaurants in Waterloo. A great choice for brunch or dinner. The Charcuterie Caesar is just what the doctor ordered to start off brunch. I get the eggs Benedict almost every time because of their delicious hollandaise sauce but the Cali burger is also a great choice. The ambiance and food will leave you feeling more than satisfied.

I really enjoy this place. It has an upscale ambiance with well thought out decor, and quality materials. The warm lighting and industrial feel make it perfect for both a date night as well as somewhere to grab drinks with friends to watch the game. The food is really good and the on site bakery makes amazing breads. Food quality has dipped a bit in these past few years, so I give it 4 out of 5 stars, but this is easily a 5 star establishment with small improvements.

I went in looking for an iced coffee and some AC on a muggy day, and it was definitely worth the stop! The iced coffee was very good and I had something they called a bread pudding from the coffee shop. I am not sure what it was but the combination of sour cherries, cranberries and almond slices in a bread pudding like muffin thing was excellent. (I posted a picture of them in case you are looking for them)

Loved this restaurant.

We (my girlfriend and I) discovered it by going to Vincenzo s and decided to give it a try.
The place is really comfortable.
We went on a Friday night and even being full I didn t find it loud or anything alike.
The waitresses were really professional and the food was really good, we both had pasta as a main course and it was really fresh and well made.
Definitely worth coming back.

Excellent service in a great location. The food is well prepared and beautifully plated. This is a great venue for a date, or an after work meetup. The Bauer Kitchen is perhaps the more creative and interesting of the Charcoal Group restaurants with some creative flair in the menu and ingredients.

The brunch menu on the weekend is fantastic. I do recommend any Benedict served - the eggs are perfectly poached and the hollandaise is fantastically leaning into the lemon.

Excellent wine list, extensive taps, but rarely bitter or unusual craft fare. I've never seen sour ales or big Belgian types of beer.

Also recommended - anything duck from this kitchen. Fantastic fare.

If I could give more than five stars I would!

We went for a anniversary party and the service and food was incredible! Anyone who get Nisha is in for an enjoyable experience.

We had an amazing spot on the patio and thoroughly enjoyed our visit. We will be back again for sure!

My husband and I had anticipated going to dinner at Bauer Kitchen for a few weeks. We visited tonight to celebrate my birthday and unfortunately we were extremely disappointed. Firstly, we ordered a Cesar salad, as recommended by our server, and it came with a large anchovie as a garnish. This is quite bold, given how many people feel about seafood; needless to say, my husband would not eat it at all and was pretty upset about it. Secondly, we ordered a pizza, again recommend by our server, and it was again very disappointing. It tasted like a cheap pizzeria. Finally, we ordered beer when out meal came and it took our server 20 mins to get us it to us. We were both finished our meals when the beer came. The food was overpriced, and the experience was underwhelming and ultimately disappointing. We will not be back.

The design of this place is nice but that s where it stops. The service wasn t bad but for a place like this you expect more than you get at something like Swiss chalet. The waitress seemed scared to talk with us but granted she may have been new. She took our plates away before the food came so we just ate over the table. The food is made to look upscale with its price and description but I can tell you it isn t. The tuna poke tasted ok but visually it really needed work. Some nori would have helped this dish rather than some hard crackers. The pizza was $18 for some chewy bread with a couple of patches of cheese and a few tomatoes. I am surprised at the presentation and taste of both dishes considering there was a chef back there making it. Overall it s just overpriced mediocre food at best. There are much better places in Waterloo to spend your money. I won t be back.

Disappointing - we were there for our anniversary. expensive wine and the pork tenderloin meal had very little meat, just two small end pieces, plate was 80% potato, 10% meat and a wee bit of kale for $28. We nicely asked the server to bring this portioning to the chef's attention, reply was it was presented correctly, that is even worse. A mistake would have been more acceptable by far, things happen, but to plan this rip off is terrible. Its our last visit there...

Update: based on this review, we received a personal phone call of apology from the manager, Christine. She graciously offered us a 'do over', and along in the mail came a $100 gift card and a well written note whereby she asked us to please give them another chance, and if we did, she would also include a round of drinks complimentary in addition to the generous gift card. Well, we went last night for my birthday. What a difference! Special seating, then an accommodation for the wine we wanted to be included as our 'free drink', then the meal was perfect. They also prepared a keto version of the Beef filet meal for my fiance which she was very happy about. Everything from the caesar salad to our entrees was amazing. Then a nice touch to finish off our meal - a very scrumptious flourless birthday cake for me to celebrate getting old. My reflection on this? Sometimes even good restaurants make mistakes. While I wasn't sure initially if The Bauer Kitchen would fall into this category, I am convinced now. Thanks for a superb 'make up' evening!

We went to the Bauer Kitchen for our anniversary and enjoyed both the service and the food. Nice decor inside and had a friendly welcome. Our server Sara was the best and part of the reason we had a great experience. Food was delicious, we ordered calamari for appetizer and two different pizzas for mains. Overall, would recommend.
