When it's time to reconnect with your family and nature, it is extraordinary.
Crooks, plain and simple. I was appalled that they add 20% to every bill as a 'service fee' (tip) no matter how large or small the party. There is no choice but to pay this... but to add an additional 'tip' line to the credit card bill is dishonest. My guess is that they are not paying the staff but promise them at least 20% on every bill with the chances of getting double tripped if the guest does not read the bill completely. Why don't they add another line for 'food and drinks' with the hopes of getting additional money from the knuckleheads that don't care. I care, and I'm mad that they tried this scam on me. We had thoughts of having our wedding event here before this, no way in hell would i ever return.
Just an amazing, relaxing, beautiful establishment to go to and enjoy your selfs.
Beautiful and very peaceful place for visit, plus they have many choices available for activities.
Beautiful property and the people that work there are just as
It is a huge resort it has golf , bar ,cottages and a lot of other stuff.
Wow.. That's what you can expect. What an amazing stay. The resort, the activities, the food and the professional staff tops it off. This needs to be on your bucket list. A beautiful place to stay!
For the price of everything they charge it lacks the amenities and facilities of a high price resort.
The equipment was old, warn, and sub par. Went to put a boat in the water and had a hole and only a couple other boats questionable. Bicycles where warn and dated with broken parts on them. If your going to charge guests a resort fee they should have the resort amenities worth being charged for.
The room and cottages and grounds look nice but the cottage smelled like mildew and old. The shower had mildew in it and would not drain properly. The towels smelled horrible and where hard like cardboard.
Of course they talked about construction ending on the web sight yet it was loud and annoying the entire stay. Hard to sit on the porch and relax with that going on.
I love staying at resorts like this but this does not compare with others. One of the best I would recommend is Big Cedar Lodge it's 10 times the resort.
I l
We enjoyed our 2 day stay at Barnsley Gardens. The food, drink, and service was excellent. We also enjoyed the sporting clays course.
We have been celebrating monumental events at this resort for years. The location is an hour away from Atlanta going up 75 N. The resort's recently built inn is beautifully decorated and the personnel was attentive and kind through out our stay. Food and beverages were delicious and ascetically presented. If you have time for a massage ask for Sierra, she helped me settle into vacation mode.
Business lunch today at Barnsley Gardens' Woodlands Grill. Excellent food and service. Get the burger with pimento cheese and bacon!
It's my passion and privilege to maintain the historic grounds and gardens.
This place is like a Disney Resort. Great place to go for a stroll through the ruins and eat at the fine restaurants all the food is excellent.
Great getaway spot where you can do as little or as much as you would like. The grounds are beautiful and the staff has been very attentive.
Beautiful resort with a great golf course and delicious dining options.
Very enjoyable dinner in an upscale restaurant and pleasant grows to enjoy a walk afterward.
One of the finest places I've ever stayed. This is a special place.
The grounds and manor were very cool to look at, but the construction kind of ruined the immersion. The staff was mostly nice, but some workers seemed to act a bit cold. While both the Rice House and Woodlands Grill were delicious, both places were very pricey. If there was something nearby that offered less expensive food that would be nice. The room was wonderful and I felt very comfortable in it.
Barnsley Gardens is an amazing location for pictures! The area is so beautiful!
I was worker in the woodland grill they never wash there hands they make the food a week before and freeze it and they have bugs inside the kitchen and they have dirty dishes ever day put up in used like nothing and the stuff cleaned probably
Excellent food and customer service. Steak cooked to perfection.
We had a wedding at Barnsley Resort & reception at the ruins. My Famly & I had visited the resort several times & also played golf. We just absolutely love the property & the staff. Its so beautiful there. The wedding planners are less than desirable. They are not a good representation of this resort. . We communicated w/planners for several months & honestly NO ONE EVER answered any calls from me or my family. Would get return calls days later We made a deposit &reserved the venue. We find out right before the wedding that the deposit was NEVER charged. In fine print it states setup and taxes aren't included. Found out 3weeks before wedding it was $4k. We asked planners the morning of wedding for a direct # if we needed anything, since we had so much trouble in past with getting anyone. They were evasive & we never got. Transportation showed up 5 minutes before wedding to pickup stressed out guest. It was 39 degrees we got heaters. Half didn't work at all. Other half ran out fuel. Guest had to keep wood on fire. Planner came up during wedding to state that the desserts on chalkboard arent offered. We wrote down the SAME menu we had from the beginning and went back & looked thru our emails and there was clearly these desserts listed. So our guest had NO desserts. No one told us be out right out 10:30. They started throwing stuff out onto the street in front of ruins. Telling us everything had to be out. Guest were helping us load up with their dresses on. They threw a 3 generation family heirloom serving set out and lost a piece. My family & I called several times no one ever called back. 3 Family member fell trying to carry items back & forth for set up after getting ready, cause the golf cart the wedding planners stated were available for this purpose never showed up. Nightmare experience not to include VERY OVERPRICED. Thank goodness for the wonderful pictures.
Only was there for business. It seemed to be a nice place
I've been to Barnsley for both the woodlands grill and the beer gardens and both I have been to Barnsley for both the Woodlands grill and the beer garden and both have exceeded my expectations. The grounds are always beautiful and the service is great at either. One day we will save up and try the rice house. If you're thinking about going just go. You will not be disappointed.
It feels like I am hours away from home but I'm only 35 mikes away from my home. The cottages are so quaint and perfect for my husband and I to get away at this time of need. Everything couldn't have been better. The service was outstanding.
Barnsley is a beautiful resort in rural Georgia. While not inexpensive, everything is high quality from the food to the staff. Each cottage is unique and has it's own personality as well. Barnsley is a great place to get away from your every day life and I'm looking forward to going back.
For a customer, you will be treated with the utmost respect and class. Working is good if you work anywhere but the Woodland grill. Managers will leave for hours at a time preventing you from getting off at your assigned time and a lot of the employees there have a negitive attitude. Pay is not too good depending on what you do its anywhere from 360 to 400 every two weeks. This job is for children who are still in high school but if you do happen to be a customer.. Its fine.
Nice rooms and great place to hold meetings. The food was excellent, also.
Outdated rooms, limited access to ruins and ponds because of a wedding party. 20% gratuity added to everything from food to service.
Beautiful accommodations and dog friendly. They also provide firewood every night for the fireplace in your cottage which is part of the $30 per night resort fee. 2 free water bottles are included every night as well. There are plenty to do everyday including canoeing, hiking, biking, fishing, exploring the ruins. Only problem I saw, other than it being super expensive, was the fact that there is only 1 restaurant open during the week. I saw that as a huge negative. Beer Garden and Rice House Restaurant are both closed during the week. HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT. Woodland grill is the only open restaurant. Other than that, the property is gorgeous.
I went there for my 50th birthday. It was overwhelming. The food was out of this world. I will be back. My parents surprised me with this and i can't say enough about it. You need to go at least once and you will go back. Its worth the drive.
Barnsley's attention to detail sets the bar for all other resorts. Their attention to detail is phenomenal, The customer service is fantastic, the food is exceptional and the Fazio designed golf course is unbelievable. You owe it to yourself to take a long weekend. stay in one of the chalets, either shoot clays or play some golf and then visit the spa.. It's definitely worth the money.
Everything was absolutely wonderful. Everything was beautiful. My daughter had fun making smores and seeing the animals. I had even more fun getting a massage with my mom for her 49th birthday thanks to my godmother and her generous girls night out!
Love this place. Beautiful, great food, great activities, and they have everything thought of.
The golf course with beautiful and the staff were pleasant and professional
Great weekend getaway... You could live 20 miles away and think you are miles away.... Friendly professional staff... Plenty of activities...
Excellent lunch! Very polite and attentive staff. Thanks for another great day!!!
Lunch today in the Georgian Hall was very disappointing. Decor was beautiful and setting pleasant. Food was not hot and stations were too spread out. Meal was very overpriced. There was a fly crawling on leg of lamb. We came expecting the quality of the Rice House. There is no comparison. We were forced to pay in advance with no option of cancellation. We do not plan to reurn to Georgian Hall!
This place is truly beautiful. I had the pleasure of spending a wonderful relaxing weekend at this resort. My stay was excellent and the staff was very accommodating and wonderful. I had the pleasure of being greeted by Josh who was security and also a front desk person. At the front desk I had the wonderful pleasure of being assisted by Ashantee and Lynn my housekeeper Brandy was so kind and wonderful. I also appreciate Jenna who assisted us with building a fire in the firepit for our s'mores. While I was at the property I visited the museum and the ruins. Also I workout each day at the gym which had exactly what I needed to complete my daily workout. I also visited The Woodland Grill and my waitress Jasmine was awesome in assisting me with my breakfast choices of food. The Presentation and the taste of the food was miraculous. This resort is highly recommended and I will be back with my family.
This was once my favorite place for a special meal; not anymore. The filet came on a naked plate with an al a carte side ($3.00) of runny macaroni and cheese the size of a deck of cards (if that), The 6 oz filet was very good but the presentation was horrid - not even a sprig of parsley on the plate. The service was good. The bathrooms were littered with tissues. I was very disappointed. They need to update (or at least starch) their servers' attire. The $9.00 salad was a wedge of iceburg with , I must admit, an exceptional dressing. I am sorry it is not as it was 2 years ago.
Property is great. Rooms are very spacious. Great for company events as well. Food was also very good.
We ate at the grill. Our waiter was ok, but the food was great.
The grounds are beautiful. On our next trip, we will take the time to enjoy more of the scenery.
We were greeted with the Best Southern Hospitality. We will return & share our experience with others.
The people were so welcoming it is a high end quiet place
The service is top notch!! The facility is incredibly beautiful!!
Barnsley Resort offers visitors the pleasures and pursuits of a fine Southern estate: exceptional cuisine, a championship golf course, a sporting club, relaxing spa, excellent horseback riding and wilderness trails for hiking, walking and biking. It s perfect for leisure vacations, business meetings, and romantic getaways and is just a short drive from either Atlanta or Chattanooga.
If you re checking in to Barnsley Resort with nothing specific in mind to do for the next few days, trust me, you won t be bored. Want to relax and take it easy? Consider the seasonal swimming pool, a relaxing canoe ride on the lake or a nice leisurely stroll around the grounds. If you want something a little more strenuous, how about biking, hiking or horseback riding? Shooters will find the Beretta Shooting Grounds by High Adventure Company to be one of the top wing shooting and sporting clays facilities in the Southeast with two 14-station clays courses that feature a diverse layout of shots.
For many guests, Barnsley Resort is all about the golf. Whether you re playing a round on the Fazio Course or taking a lesson at the Golf Performance Center, you re bound to be impressed. The Jim Fazio designed golf course offers stunning views of the North Georgia mountains and features what many golfers consider to be the best collections of par 3's in all of Georgia. The course blends in well with its natural surroundings and features strategically placed hazards that make the course incredibly memorable. There s plenty of room off most tees and the approach shots to many of the greens involve avoiding a hazard or two, but what you ll likely remember most are the greens. They are some of the quickest, most undulated greens I have ever encountered and only add to the thrill of this North Georgia golf masterpiece.
The other piece of the golf puzzle at Barnsley is the Golf School. At the ripe old age of 32, Head Teaching Professional Kyle Morris has been studying the golf swing for more than half his life. In his own words, Kyle fell in love with the game at the age of 5 and by the time he was 16 years old he was caddying for a friend of his on one of the professional tours. During that time, Kyle developed a passion for the mechanics of the golf swing and decided to make a career out of it. He attended the Golf Academy of America in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina where he studied Sport Psychology, Methods of Teaching, Biomechanics and Attitude & Motivation Assessment. After a few stints as an Assistant Pro at various clubs, Kyle made the decision to get back into teaching full time and took the position of Head Teaching Professional at Barnsley Resort.
After spending an hour with Kyle at the Golf School at Barnsley Resort, I d say he made a smart career move. He has a knack of quickly identifying a problem or potential problem and offering solutions. His knowledge and use of both the Trackman Launch Monitor and Swing Catalyst Balance Plate is uncanny, but more impressive is his ability to make it simple and easy to understand for the average golfer. Don t get me wrong, if you know and understand the intricacies of the data generated by these two teaching systems, Kyle is happy to discuss the minutia with you. He understands it all. Whether your golf game needs some fine tuning or a complete overhaul, Kyle and the competent staff of the Golf Performance Center can help get your golf game back on track.
Golf course is immaculate, a true bucket lister for this area. I can't speak for the resort I have only played Golf.
Lovely resort exquisitely maintained and immaculate. Staff tends to every need and detail. Have done wonderful job reopening after covid. Be sure to take time to walk through the bamboo and tour ruins and cemetary. And so much more.
Great place. Beautiful. Great food. Great service. Awesome golf course. A bit pricey but worth it.
Beautiful setting, peaceful ambiance reminiscent of a remote elegant Southern estate, but located within close proximity to Atlanta.
The amenities are four star, and the new hotel is very nice. The rooms are large, clean and comfortable.
What is not four star level is the staff. While friendly, they have not received the training a facility of this caliber should. I would expect service on the level of a four seasons, Waldorf Astoria or Ritz Carlton, but everyone is a local hire and has not received that level of training to anticipate guest needs. I'll spare you the anecdotes.
Fantastic venue and superb service. The entire crew is well spoken and caters to you. We just went for a weekend getaway but saw a wedding taking place there. Great venue for a wedding or any kind of celebration. Keep it up guys!

Loved it! The grounds were beautiful and everyone who works there were wonderful to us!
I enjoyed this course it was in great shape even for Thanksgiving golf
I would like to start off by saying the resort itself is beautiful. The English style cottages were very cozy. The spa was refreshing as well and that s the only reason I m giving one star. Our experience at the Woodlands grill was less then pleasant. Juanita was our server and to start off she made unprofessional remarks at my husband when he didn t want to have a Bloody Mary with his breakfast. Secondly we over heard her very rudely gossiping to a fellow employee about another coworker. She didn t refill our drinks.. nor did she bring us our food. We saw her once more about mid way through our meal and when we were finished we never saw a dessert menu. We waited patiently to receive our check. She was very overwhelmed with the few tables she was attending. I hope if we ever decide to return to Barnsley that they have restaffed with servers that are up to par with a resort experience.
Beautiful and absolutely 5-star facility. Perfect for a weekend away. Spa, pool, golf, gym and excellent accommodations and staff.
A sprawling and beautiful complex would attend another wedding here.
Barnsley Gardens is such a beautiful place, and the staff were all so nice. The grounds are meticulously cared for. I would recommend this to anyone looking for an upscale romantic getaway, or just a weekend with the guys out golfing or shooting clays.
I love the golf course, but it is way to expensive for the average golfer. My wife got me a gift certificate for my birthday and it cost 125.00. The 18 holes I played cost 124.80. Is is not that good of a course.
I loved every detail. The grounds were well kept. The cottages were well appointed and the customer service was great!
Dinner for 8 at Woodlands Grill. Meal was delicious but service was sluggish.
If you have not discovered this little gem tucked back off the intestate it is certainly worth the detour!
Such a lovely resort tucked away in a beautiful setting. Staff was so friendly and helpful, the food was plentiful and delicious, and there was so much to do. Great place for weddings, family reunions, or just an escape from the city to unwind.
Great hospitality, excellent track, solid amenities, very quick greens.. running at 14
One of my favorite places in the world. I go here all the time just to photograph the gardens. Magical.
Great food, though a bit cold by the time I got it, great cadre at the clay shooting range. Good humored folks, fun to be around, and not too uppity.
The rooms are quite huge the location is in the middle of the hallway the service
Barnsley Garden's General course is generally recognised as one of Georgia's top-quality golf courses and a very good tree-lined parkland layout. The course provides a wonderful test for your all-round game with many excellent holes to enjoy. A must play if you are in the area.
Great place for wedding and other events, we wish the parking is next to the wedding location instead of taking shuttle.
Great experience as always. Got a couples massage, walked around the campus, and had brunch. This place is our go to if we have a day off to relax and enjoy each other
Beautiful, elegant golf resort with a lot of history
Relaxing Quiet Gateway. We stayed in a unit that is part of a 6-unit lodge that is part of the village. We faced the green area. The room is gorgeous! Wooden floors, king-sized bed, soaking tub, wonderful shower. It also has a bay window overlooking the green with a couple of comfortable reading chairs. We walked the grounds, brought our own lunch and ate at the mansion ruins, which is situated around beautiful gardens and trees. We're not golfers, but we enjoyed the views of the golf course at the Woodlands Grill, a bery mice resturaunt. The food was outstanding. My wife has to follow a stict gluten free diet, and the staff at the resturaunt treated her like a queen, making deliciius gluten free side dishes on the spot to go with the main meal. We spent lots of time at the pool. The bartender provided complementry iced lemon water. We enjoyed smores in the evening on the green at a firering near our room. We had a wonderful time. Barnsley Gardens is not far from Atlanta. We will be making this a tradtion of staying here.
I m a current employee at Barnsley Garden. You should be aware that there is a Hep A outbreak at Barnsley Resorts. You might also want to know that the kitchens are infested with cockroaches and the building is bombed routinely to keep them at bay. They crawl on all food ware used to serve you. The food from the weekend buffets are saved after being exposed without sneeze guards to be served the following day. The eggs are made from cartons, not shell. The crab is canned meat and most of the food/ beverages are served expired. As much money as our guest pay, I felt it was a moral obligation to make you aware of these few details that I will speak on, before you make your decision to dine with us.
Loved this very Pet friendly restaurant. The waitress even cut up Mr. Cooper's hamburger and brought him a cold water when we arrived.
Great place to meet up with old friends and great food and service
Secluded drive to the most beautiful complex. Service was exceptional. Anything you ask, they do. Everyone was so kind. The cottages are beautiful and elegant. Feels like home. Food at the restaurant was delicious. Dinner is pricey but good, breakfast was outstanding for the price.

Barnsley Resort: A Historic Southern Estate with Unmatched Amenities
Nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, Barnsley Resort is a historic southern estate that offers an unparalleled experience to its guests. The resort boasts 3,000 acres of natural beauty and features luxurious accommodations, exceptional dining options, a championship golf course, horseback riding trails, and much more.
History
The history of Barnsley Resort dates back to the mid-19th century when Godfrey Barnsley purchased the land and built his dream home for his beloved wife Julia. The couple spent many happy years at their estate until Julia's untimely death in 1845. Devastated by her loss, Godfrey abandoned the property for several years until he returned with a renewed sense of purpose to complete his wife's vision for their home.
Over time, Barnsley expanded his estate by adding gardens and outbuildings that reflected his love for architecture and horticulture. Unfortunately, tragedy struck again when Barnsley passed away before he could see all of his plans come to fruition.
In 1988, Prince Hubertus Fugger von Babenhausen purchased the property and began restoring it to its former glory. Today, visitors can still see evidence of both Godfrey's and Prince Hubertus' visions throughout the resort.
