We went to Avery on two consecutive days so that we could try everything we wanted on the taplist - it was all that intriguing and good. Didn't have much food other than the excellent garlic fries. Both the ground level taproom and upstairs dining area were comfortable and staffed with the friendliest, most helpful folks. I highly recommend checking them out. Their barrel aged beers are mind blowing, and we had the opportunity to try a few from the Dionysian series as well. Swing by the upstairs swag shop for hard to find bottles.

I am so bummed! I usually LOVE Avery, I always refer my friends from out of town and clients. I went here yesterday after an afternoon walk with my pup, and was thinking since they are so dog friendly that I would be able to sit outside and enjoy a refreshing beer. It was around 2:00 so they weren't busy. I sat and waited and waited for 15 minutes, before the lady next to me told me I have to go inside to the bar and order, meanwhile all the employees I see are sitting down folding silverware, I then tied my dog up and went up to the outside section of the bar to order, a waitress then told me I had to go into the bar and couldn't order from outside, I then went into the bar and waited ANOTHER 15 minutes to get someones attention, he then told me he would be right with me and I left. My dog meanwhile was watching me and barking the whole time which is why I was in a hurry. I just felt like I was inconveniencing them which is such a bummer because I LOVE their beer and food and was extremely disappointed with the customer service :(

This review is for their beer, as the brewery is too far away to visit. Parry's Pizza has most of their best efforts, and bigger liquor stores carry the really high alcohol brews in their cold rooms.
I'm thrilled they have been making the Rumkin, and Double Barrel Maple Stout available before Christmas. Now if they'd just do the same with the Lost Abby. It's crazy expensive, but at 15-16+ percent, it's like drinking 3 regular beers at once. I wish I were younger so I could drink it longer.

Ok, we all live in Colorado and think that we are beer connoisseurs. As such, we can't possibly think that the most popular brewery in the area is the best--we have been to the new, secret places and know too much about beer to love the same brewery that all the casuals like.

Let's be honest though, Avery makes the best beer in Boulder and probably the best beer in Colorado. Sure, you can find a single beer at this brewery or that brewery that might be better than Avery's rendition, but Avery keeps 30 beers on tap that span the entire spectrum of beer, and they are all very good--some of them I would argue are the best.

Beyond the beer my review is not a positive one...

One of the things that I dislike most about Avery is how much it has changed since they moved to their new location about two years ago.

The employees used to know regulars, give them discounts, and you could almost always find a table. Now, everyone and their mother goes to Avery and despite the fact that I have been to Avery well north of a hundred times over the years, I still get asked if I've ever been to Avery every time I get seated. Uh, yes I've been to Avery and you have probably served me beer a dozen times...

The food is also way more expensive and not much better than it used to be. They used to get their food from a catering company across the street that made delicious sweet potato tots, buffalo chicken sandwiches, etc. It always tasted good and the prices were way more affordable.

The last thing that bothers me about Avery now is how much the overall atmosphere has changed. It used to be a laid back place to go have a beer with some familiar faces at the end of the day. Now it has this corporate feeling and there are kids everywhere. I get that allowing kids probably brings in more money, but it totally changes the feel of the place. Kids are always running around, hanging on things, etc. Which is fine, that's what kids are supposed to do. But it's not the laid-back atmosphere it used to be and you feel like you have to filter what you're saying because you're around a bunch of little ones.

Sometimes you want to go where everybody knows your name. That place used to be Avery, but it's not anymore. The beer is still really good, but the service, atmosphere, food, price, and just about everything else are all worse than they used to be and I miss my old hangout.

Covid-19 review

First time at Avery one of my favorite breweries in the world if not my favorite.

Tip go online to yelp and reserve a time if yuh want to visit in person. It s a wait list and we got 1 hour 50 min on Saturday #35. However it only works if you are within 40 miles so if you are driving from a ways away well sucks to be you (that was our case).

Food was great service was good. Beers are decent but going in person I realized there are many meh beers and seltzer s they make and some great ones.

They keep the place very clean and safe due to covid outdoor hand washing etc. definitely check it out if you are in the area ample street parking as well.

I had the brusque... It was amazing... The sides that came with it... Sucked... Or were just average. Great beer and cool atmosphere... But if the server walked past us one more time without asking us if we were okay we were just going to walk out. Had to literally flag him down to give us our check. Server sucked. Food and beer were great... and the fries were amazing...

We visited this restaurant last night. There were six people in our party and everything that every single person ordered from the drinks to appetizers to the main course to dessert was amazing! The portion sizes are in alignment with the prices and enough cannot be said about how simply delicious the food is :-) great job, Avery!

FANTASTIC experience. Wonderful service and delicious beer. Food was good just not 5 star for me. I'm not a sweet potato fan.

It was VERY impressive how the team worked together. Had multiple 5oz drafts dropped at the table by 3 or 4 different servers accurately and without asking who ordered which item. Same experience with the food.

Servers were curious and prompt. Beer came out amazingly fast. Server had good input on selections. Kyle was perfect.

I had the 3x meat plate and wife had the seitan shepard's pie. The meats were ok but cant recommend it. Coming from TX & MS the meats were a little dry but well seasoned. Wife enjoyed her shepard's pie.

We had a reservation on the 2nd floor and were please with with environment. Looking forward to visiting again.

I've been to my fair share of breweries around the country and this one may have the best beers as well as food that I've ever had. Every beer that I had was immaculate. The hoppy beers wouldn't punch you in the face with hops and the malty beers weren't over encumbering. Top notch nachos too!

Avery Brewing is GINORMOUS! We only had time to visit the restaurant (upstairs) portion, which included a beautiful bar and nice eating area. Saw the tasting room & it was packed, so I assume it was as clean and nice as the restaurant. There is also an entrance for a self guided tour of the brewery, but we didn't get a chance to wander through. The service was incredible. They use what looked to be an app to place orders. 2 people in our party knew which beer they wanted to order, while another was debating what she wanted. The 2 beers were delivered before the 3rd had even been decided upon! We all noticed how all the servers helped out and there was not a single wait staff assigned to the table. It seemed to be who was available at that moment. This was a double edge sword. The service was incredibly fast and seemed so effective & efficient! The problem was there was a server that was INCREDIBLY rude and grumpy. We hated when he was the one that was available. The other (main) server was a bright light in the universe. Obviously, we MUCH preferred the light and joy of the universe helping us out! Hopefully the grump was just having a day and that is not a typical experience. I only gave it 4 stars, because, although the food was good, this is a very pricey & foodie place (think duck & waffles entree kind of foodie place). Not at all what I expect of "bar food". We all (5 of us) chose the $18 fish & chips (pretty tasty, but who charges $18 for fish & chips, especially when the serving size wasn't large enough for leftovers!?) When we decided to try a brewery for dinner, I didn't expect an $18 entree would be one of the cheapest meals available on the menu (I believe they also offered a $35 prime rib as an example of the menu). So, as long as you are prepared for a higher bill, this is a nice place to go. **Note: I am not a beer drinker. Others in the party liked all the beers they tried & perhaps that may have been enough for them to rate it 5 stars?

Avery's new(ish) location can't be beat. Their beer is incredible, the selection here massive, and their food is delicious. The only issue I have here are the crowds, but what can you expect at a destination like this? Definitely hit this place up for a great time, incredible food, and fantastic beer if you're in the area.

Impressive operation! Clean facility and nicely done self-guided tour area! The upstairs restaurant is classy and the bar below is comfortable. The food selections are varied and a bit pricey. The beer selection is wide and offers rotating and seasonal flavors. Worth checking out!

This was the best experience at a brewery I ve ever had, and I ve been to many breweries. Me and my boyfriend went to the bar upstairs just expecting to get a few beers before we head out of Boulder and back to Denver on our trip. We got so much more than just a few beers and a nice environment! Trevor was our bartender and he was absolutely delightful and made it a point to connect with us and learn about us and take care of us. This was an amazing experience and one that we will never forget!

Nowhere to have a Reverand at the huge new facility. All tables and stools in the Taproom and restaurant are reserved. At 4 on a February Saturday an hour and a half wait for a seat. The new merchandise area is almost as big as the old Avery. Avery is now a huge canning operation that has restaurants that offer its beer. We love change when it's for the better. We left without buying a thing.

This place WAILS. Disclaimer: I don't drink alcohol, so I can only comment on the food.

The food, though, is amazing. If you can, get the fried chicken. It is so moist and perfectly cooked that you may not realize where you are. The service is speedy, genuine, and helpful.
