Doctors like this is why we have an insurance and medical epidemic. Unethical insurance practice.
Seek services somewhere that wants you to heal not just get unneeded procedures so they can bill your insurance.
I was ask to give a pee sample because it is standard procedure. then I was billed from the lab for a $600.00 pee test because they sent my pee to a out6 of net work lab. My insurance will not cover this bill. 3 months and still waiting for this to be resolved.
Dr. Skailey was great. He spent time explaining my problem and various options to fix it. I rarely find a doctor and staff who will spend the time to talk to you and not in a condescending tone. He seems like a regular guy. I would highly recommend.
I recently moved here from New Jersey and was in need of a new pain management doctor. As per their instructions I had my medical records sent in advance of my appointment. The day of my appointment I spent about a hour filling out paperwork. For the record I have debilitating neck and back pain that has been treated with a number of methods, which does include pain medication. I was barely a few minutes into my exam by Doctor Peter Skaliy, when he basically told me he would be unable to treat me, and made me feel like some sort of drug addict. He had a terrible attitude, lacked professionalism, and was completely unsympathetic. Luckily I found another doctor that took the time to examine me, and I am currently being treated by him. I do not recommend this pain management office or Dr. Peter Skaliy. On top of everything they still billed me for the visit. The biggest problem here is that they wasted my time and theirs. They requested my medical records, and should have reviewed them in advance. Then they could have notified me by phone, that they were unwilling to treat me.
OMG! I can't say enough wonderful things about Dr. Skaily & his AMAZING staff. Dr. Skaily actually took the time to examine me & give me a diagnosis! He also did his best to keep me pain free while him & his staff worked their fingers to the bone fighting my insurance company. Once the insurance finally approved the procedure the entire office stopped by to express their joy for me... I can't say enough good things about these fantastic people!!! If you are in pain, come to these marvelous people, they will do everything in their power to help you.
I am writing this review on behalf of my dad Jerry King. Dr. Skaliy has been a Godsend to him. He has fixed issues and has been completely professional. He got to the bottom of his back issues, and had him up and running his normal pace quickly. Dr. Skaliy is highly recommend for any of your spinal issues.
I was in awful pain and unable to sit. Dr. Skaliy found the root of my problem, offered me ways to get better and now I am back to living a full life. Thank you! I have seen some negative reviews and I do not understand negative comments. The staff is wonderful and the Dr. truly cares! I can appreciate comments about the expenses because healthcare does not always cover all that it used to or what we think they should and sometimes it is frustrating when you have to put money out pocket for your care. BUT can you really put a dollar amount on living a full life?
The Atlanta Spine Specialists and their attached Windward Surgery Center appear to be a single business but in fact they are technically two separate companies. Why should you care? If you go to Dr. Skaliy for a consult because he is a preferred/participating provider with your insurance company, the procedures he provides at his attached surgery center may not be covered. The staff did not so inform me and I was very surprised to get a bill following epidurals and it required calls to my insurance company to determine why there were uncovered expenses. I think it is disgraceful that their business model does not inform patients of the subtle but expensive distinction. Beware.
The $ issue out of the way, I did not find the practice at all respectful of patient's time. You are required to come 30 minutes early to answer 5 minutes worth of questions on a tiny laptop they call a "kiosk". Then there is an extraordinary amount of waiting time in the nicely appointed lobby until you appointment time and longer, then another excessive amount of wait time in the exam room. If you're in distress from back pain, the visit can be excruciating. Allow A LOT of time for a minimal consult.
I won't list all of the other ways in which this is not a patient-focused practice but can't close out without mentioning that during the extended time in the lobby patients and drivers who may be accompanying them are forced to watch FOX News. No option for changing to a more objective or non-political option. The friend who had to wait for me during a procedure was at least successful in getting them to turn it off/down. I would have given them 1 star but my procedure was temporarily successful so I raised the rating to a 2.
My husband could not walk due to back pain. This procedure has kept him from having back surgery and doing all the things he loves.
Dr. S is special person. I have been seeing him for approx. 1 Year and have received excellent service. He explained every procedure and what to expect from that procedure. He is very accommodating to the needs of his patients. His staff is very helpful. All the ladies are very kind and caring. Thank for giving me a chance to get back to my favorite game (golf)
I did not have a good experience with Dr. Skaliy especially his staff. I had to show up an hour early to complete the background information only to be rushed through an appointment that lasted all of 10 minutes. I was referred to have an MRI without so much of a full exam the doctor reaked of cigarette smoke. My pain has been persistent for years so I was really anxious to determine the root cause. So I decided to have the MRI done. After the results of the MRI I had to call the doctors office several times to try to have my results interpreted. Over a 4 day period I never received a my results. When I spoke to the rude lady Maxine or Katherine in the front office she indicated that Dr Skaliy was at another location and a nurse who was in a meeting would look over my MRI and give me a call after their meeting. I called back two days later after never receiving the call I was promised to be told that the doctor was in surgery and would have to meet with me next week. At that point I expressed my displeasure about my experience detailing the lack of call backs, false expectations, and the general feeling of not being treated as a valued patient. The lady at the check in counter who I spoke with each time name was either Maxine or Katherine she was rude, short of patience lack professionalism and racists. She was irrated with me questioning my valid concerns. After asking what I thought were reasonable questions she cut me off and rudely asked if I wanted to schedule the appointment or not!
So of course I didn t set the appointment. As much as I want to get to the root cause of my back issue, I will not be treated in that manner. They are the most unprofessional healthcare provider I have ever experienced.
The staff was very friendly and professional! I went there expecting to hear I would need surgery.I was in excruciating pain to the point of tears for almost a month prior to visiting his office. I was nervous with they lower ratings ....However Dr S blew my mind , Hate it time to review my MRI and explained to me 1 maybe 3 epidurals is all I would need. I left there in a little disbelief because I was certain I only surgery could fix this veer of pain . However after my 1st epidural 2 days later I was pain free I did not even need an Anti-inflammatory!! Go give them opportunity meet your needs, YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT. Still pain free and do hospital sweeps at work. I feel like I have a new lease on life!
I would NOT recommend this Dr to anyone, he billed my insurance company $27,000 for 2 office visits. Insurance fraud I will be reporting this Dr.
