Great place, we had to do the social distancing, but we had plenty of time to see what we wanted to see.

What a wonderful zoo! The exhibits are really nice and spacious and the animals are in areas where they can be easily viewed. We really enjoyed all of the employees sharing their knowledge and educating us on the different species! I love that you go put of your way to educate and make sure everyone is having fun and learning! There was so much to do and look at! This is definitely one of our country's BEST Zoo's!!! Great job!!!
I enjoy going here to get some photos. Over all, a great zoo. Just wish some of the enclosures were a little larger. Many of the animals were saved from bad conditions and get to live out there days here. The gorilla exhibit is one of my favorite, but I also love the tree house, orangutans, and the red panda. Sad that they closed the parakeet house though.
Beastley Feast at the Atlanta Zoo was an engaging evening of educational fun and best of all an elegant fundraiser for the best zoo in the nation. The 10th oldest zoo. The docents were quite informative and added greatly to the experience. I am excited to see the renovations when completed.
Small zoo. Not the San Francisco or Bronx zoo in terms of size but still a nice experience with friends and family. The membership is worth the investment 10 fold. Their summer camps are great. My son attended when he was 6 years old and still talks about his experience - he s now 8.
Went to the zoo with Covid protocols in place. Wasn't too crowded, and the signage and fencing was helpful for making a good walk around the area. Pretty easy to take your time or walk briskly to enjoy it all in a day!
It was easy park, and the zoo was celebrating Halloween so all of the animals were getting pumpkin for lunch! It was fun to watch. At multiple points there was staff to instruct about the animal and natural habitat. Great time!
We had a ton of fun seeing all the animals Panda and snake were our favorite
We visited last year, and will be returning this year sometime. When we was last here it was alot of renovations being done at that time. It was alot of things that was closed off due to construction. But, they made it very easy to make it around the park. Employees was very nice and respectful which made this trip enjoyable. They was very informative and helpful. We can't wait to see the new attractions and animals we missed.
This zoo was awesome! Now I will add that we did the Panda encounter which might be skewing my perception. All the animals looked to be in good health and happy. The food was good as well. All of the keepers and volunteers were very knowledgeable and seemed to have a relationship with the animals they were presenting. The layout of the zoo is rough with all of the hills if you are out of shape like I am but you get great exercise.
Many upgraded exhibits and set up well for social distancing. A good way to get your steps in while the kids enjoy themselves.
Variety of animals, kid friendly, Covid-19 complaint and friendly staff.
Amazing place to take the family. We all had a blast!
It was nice ! Can't wait till the giraffes and the rhinos are there .....my son and I loved the elephant and the panda
Fun place to visit. I just wish they had gorillas and the giraffes out.
Free On Site Parking. Social distancing guidelines followed. Staff very friendly and helpful. They are still in phase one of reopening so some exhibits are still closed but less traffic made our visit more enjoyable. I would recommend you pack lunch/snacks and drinks because park concession prices are high. No cash transactions. We purchased a family membership and it paid for itself in one visit. I would highly recommend for families with young children.
Had a good time! It's a long walk but great exercise and views. I felt safe for the most part.. felt like there could have been more staff cleaning areas we touch more often but I did bring wipes and sanitizer so we were okay!
We went on a Saturday, so there were tons of people. The exhibits were nice and we enjoyed hunting for the reptiles in the indoor area. Staff were very friendly and passionate about the animals.
So this was my first outing since the Covid has hit. I was apprehensive about going but once I read about the safety measures that they were trying to take to prevent the spread I put on my mask and my daughter's and we decided to try it.
You have to purchase your tickets online and check a time and date so that they don't have too many people in the park at the same time, I actually like that they implemented this and I think they should keep it from now on.
Contact less check in was easy, they just scan the barcode on your phone and you are in.
From the entrance you see all the signs and the hand sanitizer stations conveniently located. You also have to follow signs around the park as they have blocked off walkways so you can only go one way. All employees had on masks and certain parts of the park you are not allowed in without one.
Very pleased with my first time here post covid, I would come back for sure.
We periodically visit the zoo of Atlanta. And every year here something changes for the better. Always clean territory. Animals are well maintained and fed. Getting here you will see a piece of wildlife. And it will amaze you. I really like to visit this place probably because I really love animals. How can you not love this nature and all the different animals that the Lord created. How beautiful are pink flamingos. These are beautiful birds. I always recommend visiting a zoo in Atlanta. It will be interesting for both adults and children.
Even with Covid, it was cool! Please visit and support this gem in the ATL!
We go to a different zoo each year. Last year was New Orleans. The Atlanta Zoo is SOOOOOO much better than NOLA. In Atlanta, the map is laid out with walking visitors in mind. Each area is just a short walk from the last and there is always something to look at and experience. Other zoos have a hike between each animal with few opportunities to see or learn anything. Atlanta zoo just seemed to have something to see or do at every turn. My family enjoyed it and yours will too
My girls loved it. They can't wait for the new African savanna exhibits to finally open. It was nice being able to have my 3 1/2 and 1 year old play in the playground at the end of our trip while right above my 13 and 10 year old and their cousins were able to have fun in the Treetop trail.
We love Zoo Atlanta! A beautiful setting to watch the animals! We always look forward to seeing what the animals are up to each time we are there. We have a membership and really enjoy our monthly trips to the zoo!
The Zoo is always a great place to visit for some great pictures and a good walk. The animals aren't available (sometimes) ... Some of the exhibits were vacant (giraffe) ... When I visited. The tiger was fast asleep in a corner and I couldn't even see it . This was the case with a lot of animals. But it could just be my particular visit.
Our first visit to Zoo Atlanta. Had a great day. We were able to see a lot of animals that were very active. We noted that at other zoo's we didn't usually see that much activity.
Parking. Get there early!
My family and I had a blast after spending all day here.
Not a very big zoo but we loved seeing the animals! Easy to navigate, just about every exhibit had multiple ways to view the animals which was nice. The reptile building had a lot to see, our boys loved it! The pandas were neat too, some were sleeping others were a little more active. It wasn't busy which made it great! It was good for about 2.5-3.5 hrs. They have a big area for kids to play but we bypassed it. It was a very nice zoo though!
I gave it 4 stars because I did like it based on the decor and attention to details and even customer service but I wished it had more animals and some of the animals looked as if they were really thin. Other than that it was a nice experience.
This place is awesome. Lots of cool animals to see and feed. The folks are great and helpful. It's a kid safe environment. Parking can be challenging at times but all is good
Good job Zoo Atlanta for taking care of families safety during this pandemic. I was skeptical going, worried it would be too crowded but it was perfect. Everyone was told to stay separated and masks were mandatory for adults. We did have to follow a route which at times seemed a bit rushed but other than that, it was a great experience! Kids loved seeing the animals and I had peace of mind. Good work Zoo Atlanta!
A little smaller than I thought it would be but very good layout and can see all of the animals.
Update: I wish I could give 10 stars. This company really cares about their animals AND customers. I received a wonderful, handwritten letter from the VP, Shawn, thanking me for being a member. Along with the letter, I received 10 ride passes to the amazing rides around the zoo. This includes their train, carousel, Safari, and rock wall. I'm so excited! Thank you Zoo Atlanta!
Love this place. The enclosures are nice and large. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Great place to take kids.
My husband and I got a yearly membership for $139 that covers unlimited entries for the both of us +2 kids up til the age of 18!
This is a very nice zoo. We enjoyed the new African area with elephants, zebra, and giraffes. Also very cool to watch the lions and gorillas. It's a fun way to spend 2 to 3 hours and even when the parking lot is totally full the zoo isn't that crowded.
Nice place to take your family and enjoy a nice day with lots of fun for the kids.
I used to avoid the zoo, but after some remodeling they have put effort into providing shade and cool areas like the reptile exhibit and other indoor spaces.
The place is very recommended but the price are a bit expensive.
Good experience. A little barren in the winter time, but overall enjoyable.
I love animals and this place is the best for them you can see there strong and well cared.
Half of the exhibits were closed, other than that, it was a nice zoo.
This zoo was awesome and details for the animals were well thought out. The new elephant exhibit was well done.
Great to see animals here, wish the whole thing was open but... Pandemic
1.31.2019. I love going to zoos! Unfortunately, I wasn't able to go inside because I was working...but go check it out! But go during warmer season. Also excuse the construction! There is a major redesign and construction project going on.
It was a good experience, although a LOT of animals weren t there (I went on a Monday, still at winter so that explains). Really beautiful and pleasant environment. It is a great tour for those who have children!
I had a wonderful time it was my birthday and was surprised by being taken to the zoo. I had not been there in years and intended to go one day but never got around to it, a surprise, we walked the zoo with the exception of the petting zoo, I checked off two things on my bucket list, my fear of heights and reptiles, the animals exhibits was great but walking in the trees and finally at the very top getting on the zip line was fantastic, I truly enjoyed my experience.
Way better now compared to before! I went to the zoo 3 years ago and it was sad. Most animals were sleeping, weren't in the exhibit, or were in areas much smaller than they needed. I gave it another chance today and was pleasantly surprised. They moved around the animals and now the larger ones have much more room. Most animals are awake in the morning. The park is very well kept now. If you haven't been to the zoo in the last year I recommend giving it another shot.
We saved the giraffes for last because they're my favorite, only to find out the entire savanna area was shutdown due to it being "muddy." For the love of God, if half of the most popular animals aren't in their habitats, put a sign at the ticket booth. Don't let people blow $27.99 per ticket to see birds and monkeys.
I love to go to zoo's. The Atlanta Zoo is a great zoo, easy to get to. A fun day. It is sad though with the COVID-19 restrictions that things are beginning to look a bit run down since revenues are down. I pray the zoo can survive. The thing i enjoyed most was the sense of being so close to the animals. That is very exciting.
Very Expensive! Couldn't See Animals Very Well. But Clean And Safe For Families. Most Trails were on a Grade. SO Seniors Beware. Hey, Rent An Electric Chair. I Did! A Long Walk.
The new Savannah exhibit is awesome, there are alot of great viewing areas so it doesn't feel over crowded when you are at the elephants area.
People are not social distancing and no one is asking them to
Super fun, great exhibits, animals are so Interactive. Plus the pandas are the best part so cute!!! Also surprisingly the have really yummy pizza expensive but delicious.
This place is awesome. I came to visit with my family for the day and got to see plenty of incredible animals. They're all taken such good care of and it's clear that they make sure each one is healthy in every sense of the word. As one would expect, gifts are a little expensive and so is the entry, but for everything you get to see and do it is really amazing. Their expansion into having more animals with a huge amount of land for them to freely walk in was looking really good when I came and I would love to come back here.
Very nice zoo with some great exhibits. Really love there gorilla and orangutan habitats. Wish they had their rhino! The exhibit was under construction when we went. Parking was very easy on a weekday when we went.
I guess due to coronavirus there was a lazy spirit at the Zoo. Some of the exhibits were kind of run-down (appeared unkept). Of course, the 6 year old enjoyed himself.
Had a great time with my family. Really enjoyed the animals. Wish the African safari habitat was complete.
Best zoo in town. Saw all the animals in there natural habitat. Awesome!
Great for kids, kids loved the petting zoo and the train rides. A time well spent amongst animals. The food in the cafeteria isn't great and on expensive side. Overall great experience though. Definitely recommended.
Great variety of animals. Habitat kept very clean there's this feeling that the employees really care for the animals
Awesome place. We just visited on a wrong day. It was very cold and most animals were not available. There was nothing in the African region. We still had a good time with the few animals and the birds which could brace the cold weather.
The set up is great and it is very beautiful. I did not engage with any of the food places or shops. But the price is fair and the zoo is fantastic.
We LOVE Zoo Atlanta! The new alpacas are a new favorite for our family and yesterday we got to watch the bird show that was terrific!
These people truly love and care for the animals so well! If you're local take advantage of being close to one of the best zoos in the US! We would HIGHLY recommend the membership to anyone and the adventure plan (passports) for families!
Was an awesome zoo! Saw animals we usually don't get to see!
Great experience! Very well done. Rob, one of the managers was very helpful in aquatinting us with the grounds. I could tell he loves working with animals and really enjoys working at the zoo. We will be back for sure.
We had a lot of fun in the zoo. The birds show was very entertaining. On the other hand, the admission ticket is overpriced and you have to pay more for some activities inside the zoo.
We were shocked at how tiny the enclosures were. Broke my heart to see the animals in such a small enclosure. They looked so sad.
Pretty good zoo! If you enjoy zoos you ll enjoy this one. It has quite a few extras to keep you busy while viewing the animals!
It's a smaller zoo when compared to others in the US, but the biggest perk is, you get to see the Panda!! The zoo is serene and many varieties of birds are there to see.
The zoo is a good place to spend time with family or friends. The entrance price is good value compared to other things to do in downtown Atlanta. The exhibit and animal enclosures are informative and the keepers/employees working on the enclosures have in my experience been helpful and happy to answer questions about the animals. My BIG issues with the zoo are the price of food there - it's too expensive, i recommend taking in water and lots of snacks if spending several hours there. The other is the lack of nursing facilities for breastfeeding mothers. ONE facility for the entire park is poor form for such a popular FAMILY attraction. They must be able to do better than this!
Lastly, i can only speak for the mens restrooms but the lack of facilities for small children is also poor form. Steps for the wash basins are needed for children to access them without sitting on the surface and the older toilets need upgrading to have urinals lower to the ground like you find in the Georgia Aquarium and Mercedes Benz stadium. The zoo is a good day out for the family but facilities need improvements. Happy to give 5 stars if they update the facilities.
Lady that served us at Willie's Pizza is one of the rudest people I have met. She does not need to be in customer service!
I went recently during the Coronavirus many of the animals not out still a wonderful experience be prepared to walk the entire distance which is like a two-hour walk there's no turning back children will love it all the shared experience the playground and shared experiences like that they're all closed the train is closed but children will love it it's worth it
My grands loved it! Just wish there where more tiger, lions, bears. Get place for family outing
Who doesn t love seeing Pandas?? Great place to go with friends or take your family.
Nicely maintained but it's small. Signage could be better for exits and other areas
We came to visit Zoo Atlanta today, and it was very different than I had remembered as a young child.. Not in a bad way. A lot of stuff is new. This zoo is VERY CLEAN. There was plenty of opportunity for pictures! The only downfall we experienced was the lady in charge of overseeing the parking lot. She was very rude, not to us but to others in her words "the parking lot is full can you read the sign?" "The lot is full this is exactly why I redirected you the first time." If this would have been us we would have just left and went home. When she is the first person you see it kinda just ruins the mood. Furthermore we appreciate the price of the tickets, the cleanliness, the ease of purchasing tickets online, and all other staff members .
ZA is very nicely laid-out and very clean and pleasant. They have a very good array of critters, from naked mole rats to the mighty gorillas! There were several types of fascinating hornbills, and we were pleased to catch an open air, impromptu demonstration in the courtyard, by a large horn bill and a zoo handler! It was amazing and educational! Our visit was over the holidays so there was quite a crowd of people, but everything flows so well there, we were able to comfortably view all exhibits. It is a good trek all the way around to see all the birds and animals, so strollers are recommended for smaller children and I recommend renting a scooter for anyone with mobility problems. I did, and I was able to spend the whole day and view almost all the animals and thoroughly enjoy it. It was easy to maneuver everywhere. There is great food available, for lunch or snack, I ordered a burger and it was very good. There is easy restroom access and a very nice gift shop, too! We bought patches to iron on and the cutest toy lion cub as a gift for our grandchild. You should plan to spend the day, we had a great time and it is well worth the reasonable admition. I am from another state and this is a top- 10 zoo! I hope to return to Zoo Atlanta in the future.
We had so much fun! Learning new information on the animals and about the zoo. It was such a great experience.
Wonderful zoo. A lot of animals. I was impressed. Parking is free. But you need to try to find a place for the car.
I was able to get in for free as a military member. O really, I think it was a positive experience, buy I did visit during the covoid pandemic. I believe this would be a fantastic family trip, especially with young curious children, but there isn't much to do for adults interaction wise. The animals do seem pretty down.
We love going here , we got the season pass so we can go anytime we can
I went for the first time during Boo! at the Zoo and it was a great family event. Really impressive facility.
Absolutely loved it. Bathroom was clean. Friendly staff and reasonably priced.
Covid-19 update! The zoo is normally crowded and loud. With the beerbug, I was worried it'd be a bit much, but it's outside. They did a great job with the one way experience. Very easy to follow. Still able to see most things. Still great picture potentials. If you're worried about the plague, but have to get outside, I'd highly recommend the Zoo. Well done.
(Plus they have ICEEs and I've been jonesing for one. Cherry ftw!)
The time we visited was around new years eve. Had very few people so had plenty of time seeing animals up close. Spent most of the time seeing the lion.
Some sections were closed due to extension and construction work was going around. Animals were cared for very good
Corona routes set up nicely. Plenty to see as weather is getting cooler. Shops open in different spots. Majority of the employees nice and accommodating. We had a good visit.
Covid 19 shut down areas under Kemp Law
I understand beautiful place an love it. No wide open events but Beautiful place great for children an families
Me and my daughter had a blast! It has been a while since my last visit with my oldest and it has improved for the better! At one point I told my daughter I will bring her to the Bronx Zoo because I love their Reptile house. A few minutes later we walked up to a reptile house and I was impressed. I scanned the map when I first got it, but when I was ready to leave I realized we toured the entire Zoo which was about 4 hours. It probably would of been less because we sat down to eat for about 20 minutes and then I got kind of lost lol. Watching the Gorillas being feed and communicating with each other to watching the Twin Pandas play with each other was just amazing! I will return!!!!!
Great getaway in East Atlanta. The renovation of the zoo looks impressive.
Atlanta Zoo is a great place for the family! We loved the lion and panda exhibit. Plenty of places to sit down. There are also wheelchair and stroller ramps to make it easy to get around if needed. The staff are very friendly!!! My kids had a great time!
Pandas, monkeys, flamingos, oh my! It was a great experience and I'd be happy to go back!
