Have not had a bad breakfast meal there (been numerous times). Stuffed French toast is great, corned beef hash and omelettes are very good to!

Wait for 30 minutes to be seated, wait for 15 minutes for the waitress to show up, wait for 45 minutes for the food to arrive after that. Get your coffee but not the milk until the coffee is cold. Plus, deal with a rude waitress who sees that you need something, and shows up like she is doing you a favor 5 minutes later. Just not worth it.
Had a wonderful breakfast with great nephew Robert heading home had a great time in Boston
OMG, so so so YUMMY!! I'm still pigging out on the goodies I brought home with me. Will definitely go back when I'm in the area again.
Very welcoming, lovely breakfast food, and the best french toast you'll EVER have!
Bagel chips to start served with cream cheese were very tasty and addictive. Reuben was good, was hoping for old school deli portions, got regular. Still good and filling. Perfect half-sours! My son got Nova on a Sesame bagel and it was perfect! The side of home made hash was unique and very delicious....surprise treat! Didn't see knishes on the menu... have to inquire?
Food is awesome. The service not so much. Got my to go order wrong. I'm in Boston with a sandwich I didn't ask for. Blah
Don't come here expecting the classic Jewish dishes to be great. I'm not sure the gefilte fish didn't come from a store-bought jar, and the latkes were deep fried and not very flavorful (and finely grated, while I prefer roughly grated). The kugel was pretty good, though it had no apple in it. However, the lox bagel my non-jewish friend got was good, and the fries were excellent. The meal also came with some nice bagel chips. The atmosphere is nice as well and the wait time was very reasonable.
Came here on a Friday night - which I know is not necessarily the most busy time for a *Jewish* deli - and found there to be a good crowd. We mostly ordered standard deli items and were not disappointed. When I come back, I want to try the appetizer sampler or the Lupo - the menu is sizable enough that a few trips would be needed for me to try everything I want.
Lots of choices. Not a kosher deli. My Reuben was not bad, but I have had better. Root beer float was a treat.
The brunch place to go to Brookline. A deli with an incredibly yummy and huge menu. Expect a decent wait on weekends. But it's worth the wait.
Would absolutely recommend eating here. Exceptional character, delicious dishes, great service. 5 stars.
loved: food, location
hated: long wait to get the table for a late breakfast (30+ minutes)
Prepare for a wait, but great food! The nifty art on the walls lends itself to the quirky atmosphere, and the banana walnut pancakes are incredible. The date butter is a perfect addition! There are other good brunch places in the area, so I don't usually wait for a table, but if you can snag one, eat and enjoy.
Zaftigs has a great selection of sandwiches. But not only that, it also includes a brunch, lunch and dinner menu. I went there with a friend and we shared the New Yorker and the BBQ Brisket sandwiches, with fries as sides. Both were super good, although the pastrami had a lot of extra fat on it. Overall the place is good if you want to indulge yourself. Don't expect anything healthy on the menu.
Tried this place in the past with my friend and I am obsessed since then. I liked the great vibes and delicious dishes and beverages. Great work.
Very good service, knishes are delicious, pastrami is not up to my standards but I am unreasonable.
Zaftigs is one of the most popular eateries in Coolidge Corner. I can tell you though, that the main reason would not have been due to the food which is just average. It does have very nice ambience, comfortable sitting, and prices are very reasonable, allowing families and friends to go out but won't break the bank. In fact it's getting so popular that people often have to wait outside for a table. It's conveniently located next to the C line T Coolidge Corner stop.
Classic New York style Jewish delicatessen in Boston. Definitely good quality food but price could be more competitive. Regardless it s a good choice for weekend brunches and group meals.
Good breakfast place, but there is a long wait- a great place to go and catch up with friends!
Always crowded, but so worth it! The potato pancakes are good. Definitely try the Monte Cristo made with house made challah bread.
For me it was really good! Maybe a limitless too pricey.
Awesome food, our waitress was very friendly and helpful. We will definitely be taking friends and family here.
The management of Zaftigs needs to spend more time training its wait staff!
Our waiter last night was hopping around, distracted and disengaged.
He forgot to put in one of the dinner orders with the rest so we ate out of sync. (Until we pointed it out, he was totally oblivious to the fact we didn't all have our dinner.)
The waiter also didn't clear the table between courses so we were surrounded by dirty dishes when eating dessert.
I have been going to Zaftigs for years! Food is great!
One of the best places to get breakfast or brunch in Boston. Classic Jewish deli featuring excellent sandwiches packed with meat, delicious and thick french toast, and incredible desserts. Expect a wait during the weekend for breakfast, especially around 9:30-11:30. Come around 8:30 for great service and no wait!
It's definitely good food for breakfast and brunch but it's standard Jewish delicatessen stuff and I wouldn't put it down as a top-tier meal worth traveling out of your way for. The other problem is that it's super super popular (beyond what I think the food really merits) and the wait to be seated can be an hour or more. They've got a really good buzzer system for seating people so props to the for setting that up but I just don't think it's worth it. If you go and there's no line, yeah, go eat there the food's pretty good and the atmosphere is cute! But if you show up and there's that hour-long wait you might want to think about just picking somewhere else. Lots of good places to eat in Coolidge Corner.
Service was bad. I would never go back there again!
The best deli in the Boston area. I love their meats and bagel chips!
Empire eggs and rugelach are beyond perfect! I go here for brunch every chance I get. The long lines are a bummer most weekends, but there is plenty to do in the area, you can always put down your name and come back after sometime.
YUM. Went with a group of 7 & had to wait 30 minutes which is totally understandable. The restaurant is sorta small & noisy but the menu is great & their food is even better. I got a grilled cheese without looking at the menu because I was trying to be cheap but I was surprised when a grilled cheese the size of my head, made with the thickest bread & lovely amount of cheese was served. It was $10 so I should've checked the price but I have no regrets. We had 7 people, $98 dollars.
I don't usually leave reviews. But this one has been bothering me since yesterday.
Took the wife out for our Saturday lunch date. We were in Brookline and I was craving A Corned Beef Rubin. When I mentioned it to my wife she said she wanted Matzo Ball Soup.
At the suggestion of a manager of another store, we ended up Zaftigs Deli on Harvard Street.
We were really excited, the place was not very busy. From what I can see, 5 tables (maybe 6) had people at them. When we had been seated they seated us in a corner by the door, on the back side of a wall, away from everyone else already seated and out of view of everyone else also. At that point i just knew what was about to happen. Yes, the service was TERRIBLE. It took me standing up, and looking around to get someone's attention. The server even said "Ohhh, I didnt see you there." From there it was just straight down hill.
Everytime we needed anything I had to stand up to our servers attention.
So, 20 minutes after being seated we finally got our order taken.
First order of business, Bloody Mary's. Second our Matzo ball soup comes out the server puts the soup down and walks away. No, silverware, no napkins, nothing but a sticky table.
I then have to stand up and get the servers attention to get utensils, napkins, salt and pepper. (Salt & Pepper she brings us, 4 each of the smallest paper packets you'd ever received, so obviously I had to ask for more) it was a good thing we asked for more because, the Matzo Ball soup itself was bland. The Matzo balls were just OK... probably because they took on the taste of the bland soup. literally 2 minutes after getting the soup our entrees are dropped off at the table, (I have had like 2 spoonfuls of soup at this point.)
My wife order a breakfast entree Corned Beef Hash and two eggs. (She specifically asked for her hash to be well done... NOT...) eggs, were like rubber frisbees... her hashbrowns potatoes, where deep fried potatoes the size of golf balls. And also bland as hell.
My lunch should have been easy to make. Corned Beef Rubin... 4 ingredients... but what I ended up with was overcooked boiled pastrami... (yes people I know the difference...) totally tasteless... other than the water it was boiled in. The Sauerkraut also bland... the Russian Dressing, was the only thing that had taste. But, a last, there was just barely enough to taste it. And the last ingredient Pumpernickel Bread, which was unfortunately soggy because the Corned Beef (or in this case as I mentioned the "Pastrami") and the Sauerkraut was never drained properly. Therefore, it also tasted like the water from them both. And basically fell apart with each bite.
Just so you understand why I gave two stars, we actually enjoyed the Bloody Mary's we ordered. Even though they were tiny... just a heads up, they are 10 oz glasses filled with ice. If you're lucky you get about 5 oz.s of Bloody Mary for the cheap price of $10 each. Someone needs to re-evaluate their drink prices or sizes for that pricem. If you gonna charge $10 each. You may want to at least give $10 worth of Bloody Mary...
Now again I don't usually leave reviews but... this just had to be put out there.
Oh and Zaftigs... if your gonna display best of Boston awards that are like 20 years old, work on your food to reflect those awards... maybe just maybe, you may get a new award... because this experience for was NOT worthy of anything but this review.

Every time I visit Boston, I make a point of eating at Zaftig's, if at all possible. It is just delicious and full of good energy.
One of the BEST Delis in the country outdside of NY city.
It wasn't a bad place, but their menu prices did not match the ones I found online. This was May of 2016, so hopefully they've updated their website since then.
Not that busy when we visited at 5 on Sunday night. The potato pancakes were big and deep fried, very crunchy. BBQ beef brisket is good too. Hit the spot.
Best food and great overall experience at this restaurant
This place is great if you are looking for a Jewish Deli. We are from Charlotte, NC and we only have on we place like this, but not nearly as good. The Chicken Matza Ball Soup was amazing. Everything we had was great. We highly recommend this place. Great servers also.
Yummy! Cheese blintzes delicious. Kid friendly. Crowded on weekends so plan on a wait to be seated. Good service!
Was my go-to breakfast spot on weekends for years while living nearby. Have since moved. One day will be back in Boston area and will definitely stop in for a meal.
it's not as good as I remember it being years ago - they REALLY stuffed their sandwiches back then, and now it seems like they may be cutting corners. Good if you're looking for a fix of jewish foods (they have a sampler plate that I enjoy)
Amazing food, great staff, original dishes, really good experience!
Incredible sandwiches. Everything fresh and homemade. Highly recommend for breakfast, brunch, or lunch.
The place to go in Boston, Brookline, Cambridge...really if you are anywhere in the greater Boston area, you need to make your way here. This is hands down the best and most filling meal you will find in the city. The latkas, either topped with deliciousness or plain, are phenomenal and the sandwiches will leave you desperate for more. And the coffee. I have had bags of this coffee shipped to me all over the world and it is so worth it every drop. Go. Go often. And try everything because it is all amazing
Awesome place. Great food and really well sized portions. Will definitely be going back!
I was recommended to go for breakfast and it did not disappoint. I had chocolate french toast that blew my mind. Can't wait to go back!
Whenever I'm in town I stop for a Zaftigs sandwich.
The best Reuben sandwich I have ever had. Great breakfasts to. We love this place.
Zaftigs has a wide selection of food to choose from. I think I may had just chosen the wrong one. Others have raved about the San Francisco Joe's Special, but I found it anti-climatic. The house made ground turkey hash (with mushrooms, onions, spinach, egg, asiago) lacked the "umph!" I was looking for. Maybe I'm just not used to turkey hash, but my taste buds were screaming for more flavor!
I stop in all the time when in the area. The roast beef sandwich is truly amazing. Honestly it s so big that I tend to take half of it home.
The food and service were beyond our expectations. We absolutely enjoyed the vibes of this restaurant. Amazing place to take my family out for lunch.
Breakfast all day long. I arrived in morning after donating blood at local hospital. I found the steak and eggs with orange juice hit the spot. Steak was cooked well, eggs prepared the way you want, orange juice nice and pulpy. Assortment of condiments of toast. Potato pancake lightly crisped served with apple sauce and Greek yogurt or light sour cream. Bagel slices with cream cheese for appetizer.
Extraordinary - food is out of this world and service is outstanding. Would definitely eat here again. Every day, preferably.
Excellent food, ate there two days in a row for breakfast
Excellent food! Great service! Love going there it's always a pleasure.
Reuben had tough corned beef, but hamburger was delicous.
Best Jewish-style deli food I've had outside of NYC. This place has an amazing selection of food - breakfast, lunch, and dinner - to choose from.
Only downside are is that the line can be pretty extreme sometimes during peak hours, and you may be left waiting as much as 90 minutes. But if you're willing to wait, you are in for a treat.
I usually visit the Natick MA location and find the food there 5 stars, but I visited the Brookline MA location and was very disappointed with my $14 Ruben sandwich. It was not grilled. There was not a lot of corned beef on the sandwich. The coleslaw was also disappointing. So I will stick with the Natick location which is excellent.
The food is always great if you like chicken you need to try the chicken kabobs
Nice atmosphere, Good Reubens but the salmon egg bandict was much too salty
STANDARD FOOD, BUT THE BEST YOU'LL FIND IN THE CITY FOR A JEWISH-STYLE BRUNCH.
Wonderful spot. Great service and food. Very busy especially for brunch so plan accordingly!
I accidentally stumbled upon this gem, it is just what I usually look for in a casual dining place. I loved the food and the options are definitely different from your usually diners.
Ordered BLT s which arrived on cold toast with lukewarm eggs and no bacon to be found anywhere, the finishing touch was the piece of hair on my plate, overpriced and overrated... avoid if possible
My favorite breakfast place ever. Zaftigs has a wonderful staff sporting "punny" t-shirts, a great atmosphere, and even better food. It's always busy, so plan ahead!
The perfect place to get your fixing of Jewish deli food! After a day of roaming around Boston, this was a great stop with a welcoming staff. With their amazing tidbits, one will be sure to get their money's worth. Great place to try!
Delicious food, nice atmosphere. Enormously popular especially for brunch.
