The Jewish Community Center in York provides opportunities for many different activities. For individuals in many different age groups. It helps support the senior community in York with a senior center. It has swimming pool. It has areas for working out. The people there are very friendly and helpful. They're open 7 days a week. All in all a great Community Center.

The fitness room is good with a wide variety of equipment. The only problem for me is that the gymnasium is used by too many people. Unless you want to play basketball at 5 in the morning or 6 at night, there really aren't any more openings to just play basketball. Also the camps leave a lot of trash and liquids on the floor which ruins the court for people who come to play basketball.

Overall JCC has a lot to offer at their facility. They have a few things that are their weak points, as follows, which warrants them a 3 star rating.

1.) Their pool is outdated and feels a bit old an warn down.

2.) Their gym is used by too many people and is not open to play basketball at any time. They have a daycare service who use their gym, some fitness classes and they rent it out. They really need to find another room for these activities.

3.) Their weekend hours are limited. The gym is only open until 6:30 on Friday and 5:30 on Saturday. I find that to be unusual schedule for a gym and difficult to work around my schedule.

4.) A minor thing: They have an upstairs workout area with no airflow or fans. It gets crazy hot in this area when you are working out. They could easily add fans to control the temperature better.

I am currently a member, but these issues will cause me to look at other gyms in the future.

I've been going to the jcc for the better half of 2 years and have nothing but good things to say except for my experience today. Me and my friends were using the studio mainly used for cycling classes to work on wrestling like we very commonly do and the gentleman inside told us we could use it. A lady working there saw us and told us we could not being using the studio because it was closed till 3, we immediately cleaned what we were doing while the whole time she's asking us why we are inside when there's a sign on the door saying it was not too be used till 3. I explain that the gentleman who was with use who works there told us we could use it. She immediately singles me out because i try to explain what happen. She takes me from the group with another man who was with her (I believe the fitness director) and threatened to take my membership away because of the incident. I calmly tried to tell her why we were in there and she continued to talk down to me because she thinks I'm a child. This is not a way to treat your long term customers, but, I will always recommend this place.
